  1. Sorry I am asking this question, but I have been in Arizona since March 29th and I haven't been able to connect up. I know that Alex Burnett made the team (not sure how); I know that Maloney and Grey (huh? how did this guy make it?) made the bullpen. What was the Twins record since March 29th in ST? How are Scott Baker and Marquis doing? Who were the last cuts, both in the bullpen and the bench? Where is Waldrop on the "callup" list for the Twins?
  2. I am thinking the last three pitchers for the Twins, Maloney, Burton, and Fien (pending the health of Waldrop) are probably the leaders in the bullpen fight
  3. Not helping Butera's case: he is 1-3 with a BB and 4 left on base; not showing he can get hits when he needs to.
  4. Theoretically, if Waldrop is too injured to make the club out of ST, would the Twins have any problems taking Fien with them?
  5. Take the payroll complaints and make your own thread, while those of us who are feeling confident about the team this year stay and talk about the Twins destroying the Pirates FTdubs
  6. Revere also has 2 SB's with 2 BB's and a 1b...looks like he is getting on base perfectly fine in ST. Hoping it translates to a spot with the big club
  7. The Twins have had two seven-run innings two games in a row. Finally (even though it is ST) the offense revives. They have also had a nice homerun explosion, three by Morneau, 1 by Dink, 1 by Dozier, at least 1 by Parmelee, several by Hughes...power returning to MN with a little speed mixed in
  8. While we have been seeing that the twins have been doing alright, one team that has bee flying under the radar is the Toronto Blue Jays, who are currently owning a 21-4 record in the Grapefruit League. How is that happening? The Twins have only faced them once, and it was the only truly bad outing of the spring so far for Liriano.
  9. Who was pitching that got so destroyed by the Twins "power hitters"
  10. Are they getting a look at some more minor leaguers that they haven't gotten around to today?
  11. To answer your question, Maloney will be starting tomorrow. They are stretching him out to be a possible option to replace one of the starters that might not be ready for Opening Day
  12. I guess...also, to those who are saying that Revere should be starting at AAA, even with his (currently) 0-3 day, he is still hitting .340, albeit with only 2 2B, but he also has 3 SB
  13. Seems a little unlikely, especially since if they desperately need a shortstop, they could call up Dozier, even if he isn't doing very well. The Twins could also just patch their infield together, say if Carroll gets injured, with Casilla as SS, Hughes at 2B, and Parmelee at 1B (if he makes the team, and he is playing like he should).
  14. Based on their predictions of our lineup last year, i would imagine many people had us reaching at least the ALDS before being defeated (again) by the Yankees. See how well that one turned out...
  15. Giving up only two runs to the Phillies "A" lineup (minus Howard), and no home runs, with the offense scoring eleven runs, the twins will take it. The twins will also be happy that he struck out three and only walked one.
  16. Also, with how thin the pitching is for the Red Sox and the Yankees, and how weak the hitting is for the Rays, I think the AL East division will be up for grabs for the first time in a long while, instead of having the two expected teams, the BoSox and the Yankees, come out of that division seeming invincible.
  17. AL East: Rays Central: Need game 165; Twins end up #1, Tigers #3 West: Rangers AL Wild card #1: Angels; AL Wild Card #2: Yankees NL East: Phillies Central: reds West: Diamondbacks NL Wild Card #1: Marlins; NL Wild Card #2: Cardinals Angels beat Yankees, Marlins beat Cards ALDS/NLDS: Angels beat Rays, rangers beat the Twins; Diamondbacks beat Phillies, Marlins beat Reds ALCS/NLCS: Angels beat Rangers in 7, Diamondbacks beat Marlins in 6 WS: Angels win in 7 I don't think any of these teams are the "dream teams" that we had last year, but they are pretty good. I think the Twins win out over the tigers because the Twins have (some) semblance of an infield that can play defense, and their outfield isn't bad. i have the angels winning it because they have a solid team right now, but if the Abreu controversy grows in magnitude, their record might not survive it.
  18. I'll take Morneau as a DH if he keeps hitting like this...good way to keep his bat in the lineup most days, except when Joe needs a break, and he would be a killer bat to come off the bench in a big situation if he really can no longer play 1st with these worries about his concussion
  19. Gray has been impressive, but Burton has exceeded expectations and been an above-average relief pitcher this spring. Burnett needs some time to develop in AAA, and Swarzak, while he is a lock to make the team, is more of the long relief/ spot starter guy.
  20. Like the one time in the last (almost) decade that we have been able to win a playoff game on the national stage
  21. Who on your 50 were cut?
  22. How many Detroit fans did you guys see at that game? I only saw one, and he was in the parking ramp when I was leaving
  23. Ultima Ratio, Gibson will be returning to MiLB late in July-August and making several starts, and all indications are that he is healing well, with the hope that he makes a push to enter the rotation next year. I, contrary to Ultima Ratio, believe that Baker is the one to worry about, as he is a fairly-good number 2 guy in a rotation if he could ever figure out these arm problems. Marquis, while yes having to adjust is in all appearances healthy
  24. SEC, you are a true Twins fan. Best game that I have heard of in my lifetime (only 17 years, but game 7 of the 2001 WS might be close in epicosity.)
