  1. Refresh my memory; which inning did Mauer take the extra base in?
  2. Triple by Cuddy was sweet, too. Shout out to the ump who saved our butts. Who thinks the "Inge HBP" was called right? It clearly brushed the jersey
  3. What are your favorite moments? Mine is the call when Cabrera hits the homerun in the 7th off of Miner & the last hit
  4. Really? On gameday it says that Towles is 3B and Butera is catching
  5. With the line of 1+ IP, 4 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, and 1 K, not a good sign for Manship getting a job with the big league club.
  6. What is with Towles playing 3B?
  7. Unfortunate that the Twins took this long before they face a new guy. Unfortunately, that guy is Mariano Rivera.
  8. Unfortunately, I do believe that Swarzak is out of options, which is why he probably makes the team (even though Gardy and Ryan have said that being out of options isn't cause to keep you on the team this year)
  9. Today might be the last chance for Burroughs to impress the staff before they start thinking about sending him down. I am hoping that Justin shows that his timing is coming back, because he hasn't shown much yet.
  10. May I ask, why do you think that Gray is unlikely to make the team, especially since he is out of options? Another question, if the Twins had to choose, assuming that Swarzak (who hasn't pitched great this spring), Duensing, Capps, and Perkins are locks for the bullpen, who would the other three be? It seems like there is an epic struggle between Maloney, Waldrop, Manship, Fien, and Burton for those three spots. Also, who says that Swarzak, with having given up 4 ER in 5 2/3 innings this spring, is a lock for the bullpen anymore with the way Gardy and Smith are talking? Duensing, while still iffy at best against righties, has been a starter and could take over the long reliever/ spot starter role and Swarzak's impact would immediately diminish, and I think the twins are trying to find the best players they have instead of going with those who have been in the majors before.
  11. Seriously, they need to use that option. Like they did with Parmelee, Benson, and Revere, they brought him up from AA because they thought that he was ready. All stats since have said otherwise, but it seems like the Twins refuse to believe that they can't develop someone like Burnett in the Majors. They need to let him slow down, get his feet under him, get more control over his "stuff", and give his spot on the roster who has proven they can play in the bigs (or at least "proven" in spring training that they can play in the bigs)
  12. If the Twins wanted to go with a youth movement, they would. Currently, they feel they have the guys they need to compete, and if they can stay healthy, I would agree. All the guys you named, jimbo, need more seasoning in the minors. The only two that saw ML time outside of roster expansion time in September were Hughes and Dinkelman. I see the Twins bringing Hughes north because he is out of options, is an average defender who could move around, but the rest need full-time innings, and the spots that they play at don't allow that if they were with the ML club.
  13. I have to agree with the guys you have here, but I also wouldn't forget about the Twins' compensation round picks in '11, who look like decent players if they recover from their injuries. I also think it a little unlikely that Michael will reach the bigs at 24; that's a good turnaround, even for a first round pick. Also, for the 4th outfielder I would have Span, as his arm is better than Revere's, he might be a tad slower than Revere, and when he is healthy, he is much better at getting on base than Revere.
  14. Maybe I shouldn't compare the two, but Morneau a few years ago was hitting like he is now in ST, then he came out and started getting hit after hit and I believe he ended up winning the MVP that year. While the MVP is out of the range (pun intended) of Caroll, he might just be a slow starter. Even if he is a bench player at the start, I gotta believe that the Twins replace him with Hughes before they replace him with Dozier.
  15. They are unlikely to take Giolito with his arm injury. With my years of watching the Twins, they will look for the pitcher with highest upside, and take him. While the new rules for the draft do eliminate parts of the reason that the Moneyball-led A's were successfull (drafting kids who didn't "look like big leaguers" for way less than others would have drafted them for when they were taken), the Twins still have sabermetrics, and they should use them to their advantages to find the best candidate for them, whether they are a big name out there right now or not.
  16. To truly make sure that Dozier is ready for the bigs, it only makes sense that they send him down to AAA. He hasn't even played an inning at AAA before, anyway. If we rush this guy too much, we might set ourselves back even farther with a long-term solution at short. Let him get some time at AAA, maybe not even call him up till September so he can have a full year at AAA and see how concrete the proof that he is about to break out is.
  17. I don't see any reason for the Twins to trade Span if he plays like he did at the beginning of last year. Now, if they could find someone willing to trade a good pitching prospect or proven late-inning reliever that is also under a very friendly contract, they might take it (honestly, I thought the Twins would have had something trading him to Washington before his value fell when people saw that he was still trying to recover from the concussion he received, but Revere's arm was the one misgiving I had for that deal.) Revere and Bensen are probably both out-of-bounds when it comes to being traded, but Hicks might be traded if he can't prove that he can rise up the ladder with a good year this year.
  18. I think the Twins want to give Dozier some time at AAA to see if the success he had in AA continues before they bring him to the bigs
  19. I think that they have enough "defense-first" guys in the organization that it would be better for the Twins to try and find someone who is a little more on the offensive side, and a little less on the defense.
  20. I think you have a pretty good list here, but if Hollimon keeps hitting like he has, do you think there is a chance they take him north? Better question, what are the chances that Hollimon keeps hitting as well as he has, and has he faced any tried and true MLB pitchers, or is he usually out when the less-likely-to-get-to-the-Majors bullpen arms come out?
  21. My bad, Tosoni was optioned out as well
  22. Looks mostly what Opening Day Lineup should look like...
  23. So that means that these guys are left to fight for the last few roster spots: Pitchers: Alex Burnett Terry Doyle Jeff Gray Liam Hendriks Matt Maloney Jeff Manship Kyle Waldrop Jared Burton Sam Deduno Phil Dumatrait Casey Fien Brendan Wise Bench Players: Drew Butera Danny Lehmann Rene Rivera J.R. Towles Sean Burroughs Ray Chang Brian Dinkelman Brian Dozier Pedro Florimon Mike Hollimon Luke Hughes Chris Parmelee Joe Benson Matt Carson Rene Tosoni The ones,to me, that are looking promising on this list are Hollimon, Parmelee, Rivera (ish), Maloney, Waldrop, Manship, Burton. The next guys that should be cut in my mind should be: Burnett(send to AAA), Butera (send to AAA), & Chang (send to AA/AAA),
  24. I also haven't heard much about him having problems in the field...I guess no news is good news when it comes to that
  25. It is hard to believe, but from 2003-2007, we took it to the AL East to the clip of 94-75. Proof that we have and can beat the AL East in the regular season, we just need to learn how to do so in the postseason.
