  1. The preponderance of mixed reactions to the trade make it likely that this will turn out to be another win-win.. without the star power of last year's Marlins trade.
  2. Apparently the Twins couldn't hit him at all. .090 avg . So he won't be on the mound against us opening day.
  3. I suspect Rocco knows who this guy is at least. But signing a guy who wears a 63 on a Royals uniform.. well .
  4. The amount of regression can be partially mitigated by signing the steadying continuity of a Donovan Solano or a Kyle Farmer.
  5. If he has the health I think we all believe the success will come. 🤞
  6. Fwiw the Reds signed Emilio Pagan , so the pen just got smaller.
  7. If management believes the Twins can compete for the division title with the current roster plus a bit of creative genius, they won't sacrifice a Julien or Rodriguez. A Wallner, Polanco, or Kepler trade, while upsetting to the fan base, might indicate that management doesn't think the team will be competitive enough to claim the division. The Tiggers aren't sitting.. personally I'd love to see a Kepler or Polanco to Seattle trade for a Kirby type, and if Wallner is needed to make it go, do so. They can always use saved monies if they dump Kepler and Polanco to resign Taylor and or Farmer.
  8. MAT is the known quantity, the Known Known not the Known Unknown if you wish Rumsfeldese. He is also a well liked teammate. I vote for continuity all else being equal. You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish for.
  9. Ok I'll bite. Virtual SDR radios exist online so you can listen to any AM station in range of the receiver without blackouts. Great for most MLB stations that have at least one AM outlet.
  10. I'd rather have the Blue Plate Special from McRoyals than anything the Reinsdorf Grill has touched.
  11. Solid pitching and defense with a good young core. I could see their 'window' coinciding with ours in a year or two.
  12. The paragraph reminding us that 'not all of the tv money' is gone, should be reassuring. Any chance the team's success will yield equal or greater funding?
  13. I love MAT. Love the wins and plays and hustle and interviews. Love Farmer too and celebrated his return from the awful HBP. Love Solano and his timely hits and occasionally flashy defense. These guys helped a lot toward the Twins' first playoff wins and a very enjoyable season. Rose colored glasses make it hard to separate the role players from the success. But there are a lot of role players out there. The linking of Taylor, Farmer, Solano (and even guys like de Leon and Gallo) to an amazing year shouldn't mean we can't part ways. Breaking up is hard to do. Keep a couple if it's feasible for continuity and success. As outfield being the larger question mark I'd nominate Taylor.
  14. If you consider the entire financial outlay for the catcher position (both Jeffers and Vazquez) in 2023 the Twins did very well.. as the writers themselves note, with only two warm bodies. Honestly it shouldn't be the only factor, but they should ask Pablo for his input.
  15. Statistically it's hard to complain. Pablo always seemed in control even after he had a vulnerable stretch; his post game interviews and in-game demeanor reflected that control. It was hits, not walks that would be the culprit.. his control is pretty impeccable. If the fastball was the most (ha!) hittable it makes sense that adjusting velocity or release would make for a more effective Pablo. But honestly.. how can we complain? He's the consummate pro.
  16. Haha. Hope they don't stay cool at night. It doesn't warm up until June in the AL central.
  17. Anecdotally the team seemed to hit better overall when he was in the lineup (if the alternative was Gallo not shocked) and his at bats seemed to yield timely hits and walks. Also anecdotally Michael Taylor started 'big innings' of Three or four runs with the same.. walks or good at bats.
