  1. The excess players helped a lot last year. Think Solano, Taylor, Castro, Brock Stewart. The 2024 models deserve a recall..
  2. It's hard for anyone to have predicted the extent of the struggles of Farmer and Castro, even if we didn't agree with the strategy. Actually as the author notes, the strategy of having backups on place is sound and was necessary.. the parts chosen have just turned out to be unexpectedly weak. I don't see any trades on the horizon..
  3. I'm starting to see Bowman as a potential de Leon or Pagan type, and wonder if there's a regular spot for him if the team decides to part ways with Thielbar.
  4. The timing was perfect and you're right. The wheels weren't falling off but the lugs were loose. The bullpen selection was kind of raggedy.. might bite us in the rear tomorrow with Varland starting.
  5. A most useful skill when much of your team is batting .200.
  6. The sac flies made me smile bigger than a solo HR would have
  7. Today's the day for the vuvuzuelas.
  8. If Jair Camargo isn't catching this series.. if Austin Martin sits another game this series.. if Funderbyrk gets pulled for no reason again this series.. "But the umpire and Vazquez."
  9. Sure but hitters are paid too..
  10. I'm leery of a pitcher who relies on ground balls for outs instead of K's considering the infield defense the Twins have right now.
  11. Good. I found nothing but 0-fers every time I checked.
  12. Tell me the tale of David Ortiz..
  13. Last I looked Larnach was looking for his first hit as well. Be careful what you wish for..
  14. He's smacking the ball around tonight off the Orioles' worst starter. That's something though..
  15. Consider the options.. Larnach is O-fer in the rehab.. I think he'd bring excitement at the very least!
  16. I'm wondering about lack of flexibility if the team were to use Varland/Paddack as a piggyback starter and Woods Richardson as a back of the rotation. Would get the limit on innings for Paddack that is a concern.. maybe have Louie go 3 innings then Paddack go from there 4 or five more..
  17. It'll never be higher than last year's.
  18. So we found the trick is that it takes ten or eleven at bats a day for Carlos Santana to get warmed up..
  19. Jair Camargo and Woods Richardson up, Correa on the IL, Tonkin out. It's official. Also Matt Bowman up.
  20. There's never enough sauce in the fridge no matter what you're making.
  21. There's no help coming without a trade. Lee and Larnach are hurt. Sure Duran and Staumont may be back soon but what will there be to save when they lose every game 3-1? I'm willing it to chalk Pablo's day up to the cold rainy and windy conditions. His velocity's fine. But the control got away from him as you noted. A week's ago I said Wallner and Kepler need to go. But now.. we're stuck. A month ago I said look up Donnie Barrels..
