  1. This may give Correa too much credit. It’s possible that his presence gives the rest of the infield more confidence and relax and they are willing to push harder and make those plays. You almost think a week ago both of those would have been hits.
  2. You can add Maeda, Staumont, and even Sonny Gray was labeled an injury risk when the Twins traded for him
  3. Looks like we get to see our old friend Pagan in the 8th. 😉
  4. Duran is starting to remind me of the Fernando Rodney Experience. Nothing is ever easy……
  5. If Jax is coming into the 7th, I’m still trying to figure out how we get to 9 innings unless Rocco is expecting Jax to go 2 innings.
  6. Seems like he is managing like it is Game 2 of a wild card series and he is down a game.
  7. Sadly enough I can see that if we limp into the playoffs with Matthews and Festa, ownership will see that it worked and not do anything but maybe find another DeScalafini type.
  8. When Cory Provus discusses how Hunter Renfroe is in RF because of his cannon arm and third base coaches don’t run on Wallner tells me that Watkins should have the same information. It’s all what Waktins does with that information in sending the runners.
  9. I know that it’ll be heartbreaking if Miranda doesn’t come through. But seeing professional at bats is at least encouraging.
  10. Interesting..our only LH in the lineup drew a walk.
  11. Please squeeze the pitchers equally thank you….
  12. Great article as usual. I need to take my share of the blame on posting on this forum to demand we bring up the kids and get rid of Farmer and Margot. Not that any one of importance in the organization actually reads these comments. Now that the kids are up, we have put them in a terrible position to perform in the middle of a playoff chase where the margins have gotten very thin. I got roasted for asking why we didn’t claim Tommy Pham even though we were ahead in the waiver order at the time. His slash line since joining the Royals: .320/.520/.840/129+ per baseball reference. I’d take that week of games right now. Plus I believe it was reported on Saturday’s game that he was excited to get released and try to get picked up by a contending team. Again, a hungry veteran to inspire the kids would be helpful here. I was asked where he would play. DH or outfield. Castro/Kiersey/Helman can play center and Lewis needs a day off to collect his thoughts. Our best news is that we still have 6 games with the Angels and Marlins so we still control our fate, which is all we can ask for at this time of the season.
  13. This may be asking too much from our injured star players but I wish they would show up in the dugout trying to encourage and help these young players along in a pennant race. It just seemed that they were scrapping but losing control trying to hold it together until Buxton and his clubhouse energy could come back. The bottom fell out when his rehab was shut down. There is just no vocal veteran presence left. Rocco doesn’t seem to be the fire and brimstone manager when they need it. There was no game thread today as I would have commented on Lewis hitting 5th again maybe putting too much pressure on someone in an 0fer hole, but there really was no one else to put there as everyone seems to be in a slump right now.
  14. I could rehash all the comments about Rocco’s game management and how I agree that there are times where an Ouija board would provide a better result. A couple points of levity: At least I’m not a Vikings fan so I don’t have this level of angst on Sunday and I’m glad that JaguarGator (YouTube creator) and his dumb decisions channel segment doesn’t know about Rocco. He could have a channel dedicated to him and not run out of content.
  15. To be fair, Spilborghs is normally the color commentator for the Rockies so he has probably checked out 2 months ago.
  16. Crazy idea, but Boston just DfA Rich Hill. Do you bring him in to eat some innings and leave Varland as a 2 to 3 inning BP arm?
  17. I hate the result, but Watkins was right to send him. It took a great relay to beat him. Not everyone executes that.
  18. Nope. It’s like an abusive relationship we can’t get out of in watching Farmer batting 5th. Rally killer
  19. Oh the days of dreaming of Rob Refsnyder and Kyle Garlick as RH options……
  20. I’m confused. Rocco let Wallner hit against a LHP AND Jax gets to come out for the eighth?? It’s like I don’t know our manager anymore.
  21. You sort of have to wonder if there is not some kind of culture built up that these aren’t disclosing injuries. We saw it last year with Ober and I believe Ryan as well. This year, Kirilloff finally disclosed an injury when he was being demoted. When Lewis first went down, Miranda reclaimed the 3B spot and has hit well enough to stay with the club. You almost wonder if Lewis is hiding an injury.
  22. Nah. I’d rather have Farmer batting 5th in a lineup that if Jamie Moyer was watching would think: I could still get some outs here…./s
  23. I appreciate the post that is probably a little closer to reality and not us waiting for the sky to fall. With that being said, here is my sky is falling analysis. The starting pitching, even with the warts expected from 3 rookies, has been better than I would have ever hoped for. As for the hitting, RISP has been and continues to be a problem. As the games get tighter, this will become a much bigger problem than it already has been. Your article is still on the fantasy that Correa, Buxton, and Paddack are actually coming back. Correa has been out since before the ASB and we were told that it was supposed to be a short stint. Since Nike can’t seem to build a pair of shoes he can wear, we are still waiting. Buxton’s IL stint originally sounded like a precaution vs something more serious like it has been and he wasn’t originally supposed to go beyond to 10 days. Paddack is just suffering from coming back from TJ, similar to Maeda. We were probably expecting too much from him to start with. We have been hooked with the same hope that led the FO not to do anything at the deadline. Our replacements are just coming back from the IL such as Stewart, Topa, and Kirilloff. Until they step on the field, I can’t count on any of them helping. Many a battle has been lost waiting on reinforcements that never came.
  24. Boston lost, Royals lost…let’s finish this!
  25. Boone at least stands up for his players. I understand it likely wouldn’t make a difference but I believe Boone gets more calls for his team than most managers. Rocco needed to be tossed from this game already.
