  1. Big update for today's game. The Astros have moved ahead of the Twins in bullpen ERA. The Astros are now 28th and the Twins are 29th. All the Astros needed was to face the vaunted Twins lineup in order to better their lot for the season.
  2. The only thing they are murdering is a bag of Krispy Kreme's.
  3. Scary part about that promotion is that we got to see all the people in the stands.
  4. I also thought there was an Astros hitter who did the same thing last year as well, but for the life of me cannot remember who it was.
  5. I'm not sure it's sending a message as it is just to reset. If they went all the way down to Fort Myers, they could be away from the media and spend 2-3 weeks down there and then work their way back up after they spend time working on their swing, clearing their head, and maybe for Lewis, working on expanding his fielding to 1st base. The great part about having the AAA club in St. Paul is that you can quickly call up players or get pitching help. The detriment is that the AAA club is still in the media market as the major league club so there will be reports (probably including here) on how good or bad Lewis and Wallner are doing in St. Paul and whether they are finished as a player in the organization. This was one of the messages that Plouffe wanted to get across today when the news dropped.
  6. I tend to agree. He should just play one position if he is going to get called up and be effective at one position so he can concentrate on his defense and batting. Especially if, as an organization, you believe he is the next wave of difference-making prospects. I'm just reporting what I see and surmising what it may mean.
  7. BREAKING: Watching the Saints game and Culpepper just got hit on his left hand/wrist and is currently staying in the game. Hopefully this is just a bruise and not anything more serious.
  8. Culpepper is playing 3B today for the Saints. Giving him a look at multiple positions is possibly the final step prior to a call up the majors so he can constantly get playing time while riding whichever hot hand of Arcia, Lee, or Gray in the lineup. According to the MiLB page, he has previously only played 12 games at the hot corner so a little extra seasoning wouldn't hurt. As for who you choose? You'll have to choose one of them to at least hold the place until Houston is ready since he is currently the best SS in the organization.
  9. Just got a recap of all of the corresponding moves made today: Lewis optioned to St. Paul. Topa DFA'd off of the roster. Jeffers put on the IL with a hamate bone fracture. Acton put on the 60-Day IL Jackson being called up to replace Jeffers. Arcia called up to replace Lewis. Adams being recalled taking Topa's spot. Analyis: Bowman looking more likely to just be released from minor league contract. Still holding out on Buxton to see if he will come back or will IL him prior to going to Boston.
  10. Rumor from the Skor North Twins Show is that Jeffers suffered from a fractured hamate bone. Jackson will be called up today. More 40-man moves coming.
  11. This was the sweet spot I was looking for! Just bad enough that they had to DFA him, which they did, but not bad enough to cost us the game!
  12. Not really. Orze definitely deserved the win. He likely rescued the game from disaster.
  13. It is the Twins vs Astros bullpen. Twins are #28 and the Astros are #29.
  14. We need Topa to get mildly creamed. Like give up 2 to 3 runs creamed so we can still win the game.
  15. Did Topa go visit the Greek life at U of M during the rain delay? He's pitching like he drank an entire kegger.
  16. We could use a long fly ball from Bell. Leaving the park not necessary.
  17. I probably would be easy with Alvarez. Don't need to give up anything to him. But you have to get the next guys out.
  18. With the lengthy delay, we will now have to see how long Sim will go. Prior to the rain delay, I would have guessed he would piggyback off of Rojas and try get through the 7th.
  19. I'll save everyone the wondering. They pulled a Twins and didn't score.
  20. I guess having Gomez come in 3 games in a row is too much. Garcia is our freshest reliever left in the pen. Let's hope we don't need that insurance run.
  21. I would agree. The pitcher knew he could throw that pitch so high that it would land in St Louis Park and Lewis would still swing at it. It is getting to the point that this is a manager problem as much as a Lewis problem.
  22. Bradley went 1 2/3 and 42 pitches giving up 1 run, 2 BB, 2 H, and 3K. I would suggest that he will need at least one or two more rehab starts to build his arm back up.
  23. I agree that anytime you can get at least a serviceable starting arm for a reliever it's a victory. Before the injury, Bradley was definitely trending towards being a better than serviceable starter. On a separate note, the Rays are working on turning Jax back into a starter. He has made 4 starts this season and getting farther into the game each time with his last start going 5 innings.
  24. I look at that infield single in the 1st. I think if Royce was going right, he makes that play where there was little chance that Lee could make it in any case. It does appear, that like Wallner did, he is taking his struggles at the plate out to the field as well.
