I'm not sure he currently fits on the Twins right now. Seems crazy considering we are down nearly an entire rotation's worth of pitchers (Lopez, Ober, Abel, Festa). If you look at SWR's appearances in Toronto, his days between appearances were 8 and 7 days respectively. You just can't have a bullpen guy sit there that long between appearances waiting for the right opportunity to have him pitch. During that time, the Toronto bullpen was run ragged and with Cease and Bieber coming back, they just didn't need him anymore. I also watched his appearance against Boston. The line was 0 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, and 1 K. It would have been worse, but the Jays made two great defensive plays behind him saving him from having a worse line. The Twins are not even in the same country (pun intended) as the Blue Jays when it comes to the defense necessary to make SWR a viable option. Paredes has been able to get deeper into games with each start. I don't think he will be a future starter, but he is currently better than SWR. Preilipp has been improving and getting more comfortable going more than 4 innings and is closer to being the future than SWR. Having pitchers with the ability to go more than one inning is a must in today's game. Having a pitcher that you need to pitch 3-4 innings to get any use out of him and then down for 4-5 days is unsustainable for a bullpen. If you want a spot to fix someone in the bullpen, I'd rather have Rojas. SWR would also have to be added to the 26-man roster even though I think SWR's issues would be better fixed in St. Paul. I have no problems getting rid of Taylor Rogers. I think that may be the next move made when they feel Rojas has built back up in St. Paul. I was very against getting rid of him in the first place when, at the time, they had no plan. I believe they now have a plan going forward and SWR just doesn't fit anymore. SWR will find a home somewhere that desperately needs a starter (Mets) and, with a lost season, will be willing to see what they can get from him.

I wish there was a teeth chattering emoji for this. I know they have been working with Keaschall in the OF. Maybe a game off on Wed and a day off on Thursday is enough practice before a game. I wish Target Field had a cleaner wall for him. That overhang can be tricky to judge fly balls, but he will probably create fewer errors in RF than at 2B. As for SWR, it doesn't surprise me that he was DFA'd by the Blue Jays. Bieber is back with the Jays and SWR presents a conundrum right now because he can't really be used as a relief pitcher, and he can't be trusted to be a starter without another swing man in place. I know he didn't give up any runs as a Jay. If you look under the hood, his effectiveness wasn't any better than he was in Minnesota. He just happened to have a competent defense behind him to bail out his mistakes. He will land somewhere just because many teams are desperate to have innings-eating pitchers. Per ESPN's scoreboard, the Mets haven't even announced their starting pitcher for tonight's game with less than 3 hours to first pitch.

It's not just that either. It's the International pool money we traded away for Banda. It's nothing against Banda, but those are the players you can sign for $50K and potentially hit a home run. Andrew Friedman going to the Dodgers has been like a cheat code. His experience in the Rays organization spotting talent out of necessity just enhances their ability to stay on top now that Friedman has the funds to fill the gaps when needed. It also helps because they don't give their rookies a lot of time to figure it out. See Outman and Lux. They looked good for a while. Once they didn't, they were shipped off.

Nobody up in the Twins bullpen? With a day off on Thursday? I guess the Twins really are going to just S-can the game and try again tomorrow.

Agree. Again, I refer to Plouffe's experience on this. He has stated that he needed lots of reps to improve his defense. I don't think Keaschall will ever be a gold glover, but we have seen crazy changes. Carlos Santana and Ty France were considered butchers in the field and became gold glovers. Luis Arraez is currently one of the year's best defenders at 2nd. Anything can happen with enough repetition. It's important that he doesn't take his batting out into the field and vice versa.
