  1. How much longer before we start to hear about how hard it is to hit in frigid temperatures...
  2. If he did it on his own, its because his confidence to start the season is hot - couldn't hit a baseball with a redwood tree right now. You'd think the manager would have some feel for that.
  3. I did enjoy those off-season fluff pieces about Max and how he finally figured 'it' out in the second half last year...oops, maybe he didn't.
  4. Stop fighting. This team isn't worth the energy. Just revel in the misery and pain that this season will bring.
  5. Was waiting for Rocco to PH Vazquez there and have him play LF...
  6. Paddack as a fourth starter, there's nothing wrong with it. The problem is, you already have 4th starters in Ryan and Ober and a fringe 5th starter in Varland. Oh, and a line up that has scored 11 runs thus far. Good times.
  7. On the bright side, we can stop worrying about the rotation because with this offense, you could trot out the 1992 Atlanta Braves' staff and it wouldn't matter.
  8. Rocco has zero feel for the game. He goes into it with his mind already made up - he was pinch hitting for Julien the moment a lefty came in.
  9. And it's only April 3rd. So many more dumb mistakes to come...
  10. I missed the end of yesterday's game so can someone tell me - did Margot bunt in the 9th inning after Correa's walk?
  11. That really does appear to be the case thus far...
  12. Whatever the Twins' line up consists of, they'll underperform so if they had AAA+ hitters, they'd produce like they were AA or A.
  13. Ross is a AAA+ arm and the Twins can't get anything going.
  14. 5 games in and they look lifeless. You take on the personality of your manager. Going to be a long season with Rocco and Popkins at the helm.
  15. This was another Rocco and Popkins special. Rocco overthinking things and the line-up totally clueless with no plan of attack.
  16. When the Twins realize that they need a legitimate hitting coach instead of going with the cool kid in the class, then you might be some improvement from the offense. Popkins isn't the answer. He's tight with the players so there's that. But if anyone is expecting this guy to unlock the line-up or anything like that - you're going to be disappointed.
  17. It is just one game, true. Can't read much into it. But, couldn't help but laugh when the Twins talked about a new attention to detail before day games - only to show up and be as lifeless and flat as ever. That one is a Rocco special.
  18. Hitting coaches, if they are doing their job, can help hitters see an uptick in production.
  19. The only injury that makes me think something isn't working - DeSclafani. The injury risk was a giant blinking neon sign and the Twins apparently misread it or didn't read it at all.
  20. They won a playoff series because of pitching and heroics from Correa. If they are going to take the next step and be a legitimate threat to win the pennant, the line-up needs to be a lot longer and we need to see much fewer strikeouts. The feast or famine approach rarely works - look at the Yankees over the last few years.
  21. I'm still not a big believer in Popkins. I know the players like him, but the on-field results haven't been there. I think the line-up will be prone to prolonged slumps and a lot of strike outs. The division being what it is, the offense will do enough but when the post-season comes around, they'll be exposed (again).
  22. This. It isn't about comparing Varland and Lorenzen. The Twins need pitching depth for the rotation. They were incredibly fortunate last season. If there's an injury to the current group of 5, you have SWR waiting in the wings but who else? Falvey and Levine talked about rotation depth when they acquired Desclafani so I'm presuming that they see the need. Unfortunately, I don't know if the need will be enough to prompt them into breaking the payroll restraints and signing Lorenzen or anyone else.
  23. Silver lining on Duran - no arm troubles. Thielbar going on the IL doesn't bother me too much; keep him fresh until later in the year. Twins have the bullpen depth to survive presuming neither is out for an extended period of time, i.e., June or July. For Desclafani, oof. The trade looks like an absolute dud on its face. I have hopes for Varland. Issue is, does AAA have the starting pitching depth to fill-in when the inevitable injury hits? Twins were extremely fortunate last year with the rotation and when needed, Ober and Varland stepped up. Anyone waiting in the wings?
  24. This sucks. Hang in there, Duff. Got a lot of prayers headed your way.
