    Yeah I seriously don't know what is going on around here. Like, we've been through this sooooo many times with the Pohlads. They are running a $110 million payroll AFTER the deadline "investment". If they would have come into the season with even a $130 mill payroll they're likely in 1st place in the division, in an extreme down year for the rest of the AL. Add some actual needle movers at the deadline and now we're talking. But no, we are supposed to hand the Pohlads a medal for picking up 2 ok relievers plus a #6 starter to raise the payroll to 2015 levels in the middle of the 2026 season in an effort to make a giant push for 82 wins? What are we doing?

    Man, the Pohlads have set the bar so unbelievably low. The deadline was the definition of a half measure. A couple relievers and a #6 starter who wouldn't make a playoff roster is not "going big". Their ceiling pre-deadline was squeak into the playoffs, and it remains that. They didn't commit to making a big push this year, nor did they complete the rebuild they started in 2025. Half measure all around. I'm not even saying this was a bad decision in a tricky year. But it's 100% a half measure. The 2027/8/9 teams didn't get better, and the 2026 team improved less than almost all the teams they are chasing. Their payroll is still absurdly low, roster is still poorly constructed, and they don't have a single proven playoff starter. Right now their playoff rotation would be Bradley, TBD, TBD, and TBD. This wasn't a serious roster before the deadline and it isn't now. I understand why they held onto Jeffers, but leadership is about making tough decisions for the benefit of the organization. I hope the 30ish additional games he gives us in a our push toward 81 wins are worth the sting of losing him for nothing in the offseason. I just know that the Brewers and Rays would have traded him. So the Twins spend one deadline decimating their bullpen, and the next one rebuilding it. I'll ask the same question I've been asking for decades: what's the plan here?

    Not sure about this. The 2 highest attendance years for the Metrodome were 1988 and 1992. I don't think the fan relationship was that great leading up to 87, they hadn't made the playoffs in nearly 2 decades until then. Fans like winning!

    Good points and I understand your perspective, even if I don't totally agree. But I really don't think holding onto Jeffers is going to put 7-8000 butts in the seats. However I do think that selling right now won't play great, you are right....but part of leadership is making tough decisions for the present AND the future, not just throwing red meat to fans.

    Do you have an example of someone the Twins promoted prior to that extra year kicking in? I'm sure there are, but I can't recall any.     I'm not sure your "we" includes all of us. I want the Twins to be legitimate contenders. We've been making Dean Kremer like moves for decades and it never works. Losing Jeffers for nothing is definitely not going to help us get there either. If we want to have some of the success of the Brewers, Rays, etc we might want to ask ourselves what they would do in this situation. The Brewers traded their closer a few years ago while they were leading the division! I'm sure it was a brief PR disaster, but that trade led to them getting Wilson Contreras and they have absolutely been legitimate contenders for the past 2-3 years now. I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a Brewers fan mad about that trade in hindsight. To get where "we" want the Twins have to raise their ceiling, not their floor. I'm surprised, Chief - you don't seem like the kind of fellow who would prioritize PR over smart baseball decisions.

    Right and if the Twins are seriously going to make a playoff push, how does that help this team? All the conversation is around the trade market. There's another way the Twins can improve their team and it won't cost them a thing! Try out some young guys. This is an old, bad lineup. The risk that playing some guys who may not bet 100% polished and ready is going to tank an otherwise successful season is so, so low... No guarantee about anything, it could flame out and they miss the playoffs. Oh well, if the season ended today they'd miss the playoffs too. I'm getting more and more "half measure" vibes around the deadline...the Twins are going to nibble at a couple relievers, hold on to their assets, and that's it. The absolute worst thing they could do in my opinion. Commit to SOMETHING. Make a decision, and do everything to follow through on it. Either really, seriously push for the playoffs and worry about the future when it comes, or commit to completing the rebuild, punt on an unknown 2027, and say we're winning the dang AL in 2028. Calling up Gray is such a passive move. If the Twins truly feel like he's the best they can do then just give up on the season and sell.

    Compared to what Tristan Gray is doing Jenkins is Babe Ruth. We've seen Gray. He's a net negative performer both offensively and defensively. Adding him makes the team incrementally worse. "Jenkins hasn't been exceptional so it's better to call up a player who has been significantly worse" doesn't make a lot of sense to me. We don't know what Jenkins will do. I'm fairly confident it will be better that what we know Gray will do.

    I care for fellow man enough to trust fellow man to have their own thoughts and opinions, and not obsess over whether their thoughts are good or bad. Telling people to just think good thoughts, where "good" is defined solely by you, is bizarre, antisocial behavior. Goodbye, Gregggggggg.

    "Get over yourself" is advice that I'm offering to you, so that it may help you, a fellow man, in your life. I care about you, Gregggggg! In my experience, telling others how smart you are and how stupid they are if they have differing beliefs, is a good way to ensure you will have a lonely existence. But hey, looks like it's working out great for you!

    Do those positions have different defensive responsibilities? You seem to be saying the Twins could stick Matt Wallner at SS and suddenly his value would skyrocket. You also seem to be saying Royce Lewis is an MLB-caliber starting SS, yet for some reason the Twins are wasting him away at 1B in order to find at bats for the Tristan Grays and Ryan Kreidlers of the world. Interesting conspiracy but...why? I just don't think Royce Lewis is as good as you want him to be. We all had fun watching him hit those 2 homers in the 2023 play-in series. He's played a lot of baseball since then and unfortunately for everyone involved, almost all of it has been bad.

    He was terrible, so they sent him down and he lost his job. Him switching to 1B was the only path for him on the MLB team, because of his poor performance. The Twins gave him every opportunity to be the franchise SS for the next decade. When he refused to play 2B last year they said, ok, fine, never mind. When he failed at SS anyway, they gave him every opportunity to to be franchise 3B for the next decade. He failed at that too. I'm as down on the Twins organization as ever before. But Royce Lewis' poor performance for going on 2 years now is what killed his value.

    This isn't "perception", it's the Pohlads' business strategy. Tom has been involved at least since last September, when he made his first appearance at a Twins press conference. Turning the "perception" around is extremely easy: spend money. The easiest thing in the world to do! He has had multiple opportunities to inject money into the team. Every day he wakes up and decides not to. Don't fall for what a Pohlad says. Look at what a Pohlad does. We've been through this so many times. Fans were so excited when Joey took over because he said he loved baseball and cared. We all know how that ended. You think fans are going to be furious if he's traded in a couple weeks, but they'll fall for the PR lies and be totally ok with it in the offseason? I'd like to believe fans are smarter than that by now. If you take Tommy's word that he truly wants to improve the team....which is going to do that: a) trading Joe Ryan at the height of his value for present/future prospects, or b)investing limited payroll over several years on the declining years of a pitcher who has not at all proved he is a playoff starter or even a guy you can count on in the 2nd half of a season? Your mileage may vary but I'm taking a) in a heartbeat.
