  1. Can someone just spoil it for Derek so he gets all pissed and starts buying all the free agents he can? Angry shopping is a thing, right?
  2. The Opera browser has a built-in free VPN. For what it's worth.
  3. This trade still gives me nightmares that I'm going to wake up some day to see that Kepler or Sano have been traded for Logan Forsythe or Jeff McNeil.
  4. So the Twins cut ties with Rochester and Pensacola before securing a new relationship with St. Paul? What happens if the Saints say no? Do the Twins try and pick from another nearby American Association team? Can any of them afford $20 million?
  5. Yesterday the Twins became the first MLB team to lose a playoff game to a sub-.500 team. Of course that is solely due to the 2020 expanded playoffs being new this year, but still... They also became the first team to walk in the game-winning run in the 9th inning or later. When it rains, it pours.
  6. Look; Twins just have to take this series 2-0 with a pair of comfortable wins, and then they can reset their rosters next week. Easy-peasy.
  7. Romo knows how to work smarter, not harder.
  8. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen at Target Field. Twins have the best home record in the AL (I believe they still do) but have been confusingly-terrible in September on the road. Twins have two more in Chicago, and then finish the season with five at home against Detroit and Cincinnati... Hopefully they can take one or two in Wrigley, and then find that mojo back at home in Minneapolis to carry them into the post-season.
  9. The last time the Twins won the World Series - or even made an appearance - was 1991; that year, they didn't make any significant trades at the deadline either. Am I grasping for straws? You're damn right I am.
  10. Respect. Some things are bigger than sports.
  11. I want this. And then - after the animals are quarantined for 10 days - they can be donated to a children's hospital.
  12. Along with a vaccine, it will take more Americans taking this virus seriously for a 2021 season to happen. Masks, social-distancing, small groups... the things other countries (Japan, Thailand, South Korea, New Zealand, Germany) have done to slow the spread in their countries.
  13. I would still encourage MLB to go the route of WWE and AEW, who have been using backstage employees and wrestlers' friends and family to have at least some people in their audience. Everyone is tested beforehand, and they are encouraged to social-distance in the audience. I think seeing a dozen people spread out in the homerun porch when Josh Donaldson's first homerun as a Twin lands would be more interesting than seeing empty stands. And since we won't want any fans behind homeplate or behind the dugouts close to the players, follow South Korea's lead and load those seats up with Teddy Bears.
  14. Unfortunately, I was still in my recovery-phase after 1994's season-ending strike. I was aware of the homerun chase, but not a follower of the sport at the time. I wouldn't be back watching the Twins or baseball as a whole until 2001, when I was a journalism student and went to a few Twins games for our radio broadcast class. I really am afraid that - if 2020 is lost not because of a virus but because of dollars and cents - that it could take something bigger than two roided-up superstars hitting moonshots all season to win back the crowds again.
  15. I was at Target Field for Brian Dozier's 42nd homerun. That was the rain-delay make-up game on a cold September weekday with about 200 people in the stands. To me, that game perfectly exemplifies 2016 for the Twins: Dozier hitting a homerun; the rest of the team doing everything they can to lose; and an almost-empty Target Field.
  16. Growing up, baseball was my favorite sport. It was all I did and watched and read about (pre-Internet days, so I re-read a lot of books and magazine articles. Then something happened in 1994, and I lost interest until 2002, when I took a job at a small town talk-radio station and listened to games and was part of the Twins Caravan... Last time there wasn't baseball, it took six years and a paying job to become reacquainted with my childhood obsession. I've been a huge fan since then, even taking a part-time job with the Twins in 2017 just to be a part of the organization... But I can already feel myself slipping back to '94-'02, and everytime I read an article about the players or owners arguing about dollars it slips another notch.
  17. "We live in the greatest country on earth." I love my country, but statistics just say that isn't true and in many cases it is not close. Here are some rankings to check out from a 2019 study/ranking published in US News & World Report that ranked 80 countries in 75 different metrics (from a survey of 20,000 across the globe) https://www.newsweek.com/worlds-best-countries-us-not-top-five-1300813: Perceptions of Trustworthiness by other countries - 27 Healthcare - 10 Food - 11 Wine - 7 Citizenship - 16 Quality of Life - 17 Ranked outside of top 20 in: Heritage; Best Countries for Solo Travel; Best Countries to Invest in; Best Countries for a comfortable retirement; Best Countries to start a career. The only things the USA ranked one in are military strength (of course, when your military budget equals that of the next seven total, it should probably be good); and number of citizens in prison. It's important to have pride in your country, but the statistics show the United States of America has a lot of room for improvement.
  18. Torii getting ejected in a beautifully-firey way.
  19. (I'm sitting on zero warning points from moderators, and that's the way I'm going to keep it! No chances.)
  20. Sh*t's real now. Sorry if that's crude; this is just wow.
  21. Rosario has such a fun, easy name to chant in big-situations. "Edd-ie! Edd-ie!" Not a lot of players on Twins have that. It's important.
  22. I'm betting on the first outdoor World Series games in Minnesota to come this October, 55 years since the last one. I would take this as a win, and find little argument to be made in these predictions (even though I cannot wish Cole success in NY because it's the Yankees.)
  23. An outdoor World Series game in Minnesota for the first time in 55 years.
