  1. 2003 Twins July trade for Shannon Stewart certainly was a rental, and that turned out quite well as Stewart was catalyst for 19-7 Sept that locked down first. Could Bellinger be that type of spark this year? A couple prospects not yet in AA would be worth the opportunity to bring in a proven bat again.
  2. Couldn't agree more, How about Jim Kaat's 25 wins in 1966 when he received highest AL MVP voting for pitcher before their was a CY for each league, so was defacto AL CY. Or Scott Erickson in 1991, 20 wins and 2nd in AL CY voting. And my favorite of the first two decades, Mudcat Grant's 21 wins in '65, 2nd in AL MVP voting among pitchers and two wins in the World Series, including a Game 6 complete game gem on 3 days rest that would have been legendary if Twins could've pulled off the G7 upset in LA.
  3. I would include 20 year old infielder Jose Salas in your top 12 instead of Schobel. While he has struggled at the plate in his first year at High A Cedar Rapids, his splits batting left as a switch hitter suggest he's getting there. And he is seeing more time at 2B which will get him thru the system faster as the bat develops.
  4. Front office needs to bring in bullpen help, Red Sox need middle infield help, Schrieber has been a very good bulpen arm for them, I would see if they would take Gordon and Pagan for Schrieber, maybe have them throw in Brazier who was just DF'd if he would go to AAA, would also open up 40 man spot for another move. And would allow Jax to slide back to more suitable role and less high leverage late game role.
  5. I'm lining up rotation for White Sox series, starting with Ryan in Opener, then Gray, Mahle, Kenta, Lopez (vs. former team), back around, Gray gets Home Opener, and White Sox series set up for Lopez, Ryan and Gray. White Sox being the div favorite, set the tone early with a series win at home!
  6. Let's put runner on first in extras, see if the team can manufacture run, and put running game more in play. I would add a few more rules, here are three: 1. No throws to first with 3 ball count, probably gonna walk batter anyway! 2. After batter sees 4 strikes, he has to put next strike in play, or its treated like a bunt foul with 2 strikes. 3. Allow one player to return to game, could create so many new options, defensive replacement, but poor field slugger could pinch hit late, and leave opposing manager guessing on late game matchups. That could create some creative game management. All in all, looking forward to no shifts, thought it totally devalued the athletic middle infielder!
  7. I also like Pirate's Bednar, would offer Gordon or Celestino, Duffy and Moran, not sure this gets Pirates attention. Challenge is Bednar is having terrific year and is under team control until 2027. Might require Kiriloff or Larnach as the position player in the deal.
