  1. Probably not. I think expectations in general have been tepid. This is not an exciting roster.
  2. "I had a lot of rum and the friends of mine who hosted the party were horrified to find me the next morning passed out in the walk-in closet." Yeah, walk-in closets are great. You can stretch out. What KIND of rum?
  3. Byron can still look so clueless up there.
  4. Very sound logic, Blake. Because Riverbrian.
  5. Finally. Someone mentioned raccoons, so now I can tell my favorite raccoon story. It happened back when my daughter was in diapers, on a blazingly hot summer night. My wife came home from book club and hurriedly punched the garage door opener to close the door. She pressed too lightly, and at about 1AM I hear this scuffling and chatter in the garage, so I quietly open the service door to see a large raccoon, *ss end up, reaching into the garbage can. So I poke him in the butt with the ice chopper, close the lid on him, place a construction block on top, and head back to bed, thinking it serves the rascal right to spend the night with the garbage he so covets. He's a whiner, like Dozier and bunting, so I get back up and wheel the thing out to the curb, but the stupid thing keeps screaming to get out and he's throwing himself at the lid, clearly irritated. Eventually, I fall asleep, and in the morning, all is quiet. I remove the block from the can, and tip it towards the street, thinking he'll scramble out and hobble away. Instead, he rolls out, dead, followed by about the worst odor you can imagine. Ends up he was asphyxiated by my daughter's soiled diapers. To this day, whenever someone mentions raccoons when she's around, which we almost invariably do, one of us tells the story about how she ruthlessly killed a raccoon when she was two.
  6. The best thing for the Twin's future would be for this team to lead the Southern League in Team ERA. It would be great to have a stash of really promising pitching at both AA and AAA. Not that this is likely....
  7. Silva may have simply fizzled out. Hardly a hand-wringer. I suppose the other possibility is that the Seattle trade for Banuelos included a condition that they be sent Silva for a buck at a later date should they lose out on Ohtani.
  8. I'll put a gazillion dollars on the Sano single please.
  9. I just witnessed three games in a row where the Twin's starting pitchers were actually fun to watch pitch. I don't remember the last time I could say that.
  10. Yesterday was the very first time I ever used the words Gibson and fun in the same sentence.
  11. Bundy wasn't pedestrian today by any measure. He pitched like a guy who deserved to be the 4th overall pick in his draft year, which he was.
  12. Contemporaneous substantiation, which the investigators lacked.
  13. Yes; this is true: seven days after the world-series;
  14. Yeah, I have no real confidence that Sano has taken any lesson to heart as it relates to the appropriate respect and treatment of females. In fact, I have my doubts. Frankly, I'm more interested in evidence that the organization took a serious look at its own culture and were honest as they talked internally about their own culpability. Let's not forget that, in Chattanooga, we heard about supervisors among the ushers taking pains to protect their own female employees from disturbing and harassing catcalls from a ballplayer, not once but as a matter of necessary habit. I'm hoping the Twins organization has had energetic dialogues about this and other things, internally and with their affiliates. The organization itself was guilty of insensitivity at the very least. I'd feel a lot better about the whole thing if some part of their communication gave off a heartfelt vibe instead of sounding like a blurb from corporate counsel.
  15. Park's skills failed to translate, according to his translator.
  16. I can recall reading one of Tom's early contributions and thinking to myself that this man is a terrific addition to an already talented and impassioned group of volunteer writers in the community. Many others have shared that they feel the same way. So, congratulations, Tom. And as importantly, congratulations to John, Parker, Nick, Seth, and Brock for all you've done to build this treasure, and for continuing to be crazy enough to want to make it even better. And dilly dilly to all the community members who contribute so much every day with your comments, and by the way, you're wrong about that.
  17. I'm not directing this specifically to your comment here, nick, but, is there not perhaps the tiniest chance that they like their chances better with Kinley right now? Please. They are NOT auditioning anyone. They disagree with you if you favor Busenitz over Kinley right now, and they have their reasons. I just wish I knew what they were...
  18. Was Polanco a cheater who prospered during the second half last year when his performance seemed to be enhanced?
  19. If you get a chance, John, maybe you can pull LaVelle away from doing his annual restaurant review and have him read this. I know he writes for a different audience, but still...glad you TD'ers are such standouts.
