  1. Sure, maybe CC doesn't care about boos. He's been dealing with them since the cheating scandal. Right now, I personally feel like he is just too comfortable making his $33MM a year and playing the way he does. If nothing changes, neither will he. Maybe if our fans put more pressure on him to perform, he would perform. Maybe if the Twins community overall perspective of Correa was negative, our GM/Coach would put more pressure on him to succeed given he is a main driver in ticket sales. My overall 10,000 foot view is that CC isn't accountable in anyway, shape, or form, for vastly underperforming given his contract, and that bothers me.
  2. I feel like the Yankees, Mets, or Phillies, fanbase would boo Correa until he either played better or was forced to leave town. Unfortunately, everyone in MN in so soft that nothing like this could ever happen. We just sit back and watch $33M be mediocre until his contract is completed, then complain about it, then wonder why our franchise was broken for the last 6 years.
  3. I looked at Joey Gallo on Fangraphs today, and was incredibly surprised to see his WRC+ at 102. It feels like he's been playing more like the -3 WRC+ he posted in 2016.. Also, how do you even view a -3 WRC+? Like 98 is 2% worse than league average, so he was 103% worse than league average? Is that like an average AA player? lol
  4. Fastball is -2.17 over his last 3 and his splitter is -13.42. So yeah, definitely not a pitch mix issue, as all his pitches have been bad to brutal over the last three. So I guess the fastball and splitter have worked over the "long term" and nothing has worked in the short term. Whatever that means is above my pay grade.
  5. Ben Clemens of Fangraphs wrote on July 17th that Joe Ryan's fastball-first mentality was going to work long term. I disagree unless Joe can find a better offspeed pitch. His fastball has a 1.23 runs above average/100 pitches and he throws it 58% of the time. His splitter, has a 0.91 runs above average/100 pitches and is thrown 28% of the time. So he throws two pitches 86% of the time, and they have a combined 2.14 runs above average/100 pitches, so that's great. The problem is, his only other offering is a slider, and it has a -3.35 runs above average/100 pitches, for a total -1.21 (I don't believe the stats above include this drag show of a game). Joe obviously cannot succeed as a two pitch pitcher (if he dropped the slider altogether), and he seemingly can't succeed with his current approach. Furthermore, the stats above don't account for the fact that MLB teams seemed to have recently figured him out, so his previous results are likely much better than what is expected going forward. I think it is high time Joe ditches the slider and finds another offspeed pitch, otherwise I think his shine is short lived.
  6. I think as Twins fans we have the right to tune out of this team, in all ways shapes and sizes, until they start matching expectations. I'm genuinely surprised that I have hope for this organization each year. Nothing changes until something changes, and with the Twins, nothing ever changes. It's always a vat full of disappointment. I feel like I have the "right" to tune out, watch/follow very casually, until they actually win a playoff game, or series, and then start being a full fledged Twins fan again, and not receive ANY push back/"true TWiNs faN wAtCh iN HaRd TIMes tWo' talk.
  7. Imagine the scene. Its October 2023, the Twins are battling the A's in the playoffs, vowing they'll get revenge for sweeping them in the 2006 playoffs. The Twins have their only All-Star on the mound, securing a full 60% chance to beat the A's, according to pregame analysts. Despite being only 15% full, the Oakland Coliseum feels PACKED, because it's playoff baseball. Correa is coming into the series hitting a hot .290 against the league's worst teams. Buxton was 15 for his last 15, with 13 home runs, but has gone 0-38 coming into the series. The Twins and A's battle it out in consistent one run, scratch your eyes out, who wants it more, we need grinders like Nick Punto, games. The Twins have somehow made this series against the A's look like it would be a good matchup in a 7 game series.
  8. I get it that Kepler has had a nice hot stretch, but how long of a leash would you give him? How long of a leash do you think the Twins will give him? I feel like he was a week away from being replaced by Wallner, and then he decided to hit... It was like when my Dad and I would go fishing while I was growing up, we would be on the lake, in the same spot for 4 hours, baking in the heat, with no bites, about to leave, and then he would get one small bite from a fish and we'd stay for another 4 hours.... with no fish in the boat at the end.
  9. I can't be the only one who finds it perplexing how hard major leaguers make it seem to hit a 45mph pitch.
  10. Another exciting one today, boys! Can't wait to follow this team through mediocrity (if they are even that!)
  11. Saying the Twins are underwhelming and disappointing is somewhere between a severe understatement and flat out accurate. Casual fans won't show up to watch that ****. The Twins won't either win, or have promise, until they acquire players, and a team, that people can actually believe in, and therefore limited fans. I think they need a lineup that includes a superstar that plays regularly (unfortunately ours is Buxton), 4 solid everyday players (anything from a Castellanos to Urshela type), a couple young talented players with upside (Kiriloff/Larnach), and maybe 1 spot in the lineup that is a hole, plus 1 ace (Rodon), a solid 2-3 (Gray, Maeda, Ryan), an inning eater who finds some magic every now (Ober/Mahle) and then, a revolving door of opportunists in the 5th spot of the rotation (Fill in the blank). Writing this makes me feel like I'm asking for a Mercedes Maybach from my 3 year old nephew for Christmas... I genuinely respect people who still hold out hope that the Twins "might run a better squad out there next year, ya never know!?" I personally don't have hope for them. I'll still be a fan, and follow the team, but I have zero hope for this franchise until they put together a promising roster.
  12. $20 says it Silva. The Twins love a good “reclamation project.”
