  1. Already hated the Ballard move and now Matt Cooke. Looks like I can go without cable until the start of baseball season/NHL playoffs. Get the NHL package through the internet and head up to St Cloud every other weekend for Husky hockey. Screw the Wild. Only thing I will miss is my chance to watch Don Lucia finish 4th in the Big Ten.
  2. How much higher are the seats at Target Field, by the way 8,000 seats would equal about the top 6 rows in the metrodome. The first row in the upper deck of the dome is 4 flights of stairs above the playing field.
  3. He did commit a crime, I don't think there's any getting around that. That crime was specifically against the people with the power to charge and prosucute. He's as done as Aaron Hernandez. The sad thing is his crime was letting people know what should have been clear to begin with. The problem is Obama is very aware that most Americans are to stupid to know when they are being lied to. What lie they won't use and what power they won't abuse I don't know. The key question that needs to be asked is will judge Roberts be willing to out Obama for blackmailing him on his Health Care ruling, because there is no question that is what happened.
  4. Look how small the magic number is now 99
  5. Were gonna win Twins 100!!!
  6. Felt like an idiot for not having Flynn until I hear replays of interviews from November, sounded like he was on the rode to recovery.
  7. Gibson has a spot waiting for him the moment he proves he's to good for Triple A. Coming up here so he can have a 5.8 ERA does nobody any good.
  8. 20 years ago money ruled, the internet has taken over. Fundraising beyond a certain level is for show. Usually fundraising will be a good predictor of results but that's like saying the price of homes in a neighborhood will predict the income level of citizens.
  9. Two separate but similar things. I think the difference is in how you eliminate candidates, something that in my opinion would never create a statistically meaningful difference (could flip results in a statistical tie such as Coleman Franken Barkley ect.)
  10. The concept when used in past elections would get a lot of people the results they want, but if they actually put that system in place instead of working towards middle ground it would actually push the ballot to the extreams (not a bad thing in my opinion). The end result wouldn't be much different then the end result we get now. For example if this system was in place in 2012 Mitt Romney would make sure Ron Paul also was on the ballot, Obama would have to find a high profile Green candidate, and some moron like Michael Bloomberg would think he had a chance and take 4% of the vote at random. In the end it would be a close race between the highest profile best funded Republican and Democrat endorsed candidate. Every once in a while a Ross Perot type could have a chance, but that candidate would have to be flawless and get lucky on election day.
  11. Span had a team friendly deal, but when he signed it it was a fair deal. He wasn't a sure thing 10+ year career guy at that point. He took security over potential bigger bucks. negotiate a no trade clause if it's an issue. Average players get traded all the time no matter if they are over or underpaid.
  12. The closer will be whoever we decide only gets to pitch in save situations. It will be one of the better relief pitchers on the roster. Beyond that who cares. If any GM still gives the closer role extra value take advantage of them, but the days of getting a Frankie Rodriguez level prospect for an average closer (think about it virtually every closer is thought of as above average) are probably over. Maybe the closer will be the guy we get in the Perkins trade, maybe it will be Kyle Gibson. Either way it won't end up being a problem at least for more then one season.
  13. With no Aaron Hicks and Stanley Cup hockey I'm slacking on my Twins watching, but 106
  14. I don't know what Thome or Thomas did and I don't care. If they did what there trainers suggested then they did the same thing as McGwire. Frank Thomas never said oh I'm not sure about that it might be illegal in 1996 Jim Thome didn't do that either. In any event McGwire is one of many former players on the coaching staffs last night and unlike Gibson or Williams he had a right to be angry. Gibson by the way deserves a long suspension, he might not have told him to go high but he did tell him to throw at him.
  15. Maybe the difference is that Thome Griffey and Thomas did different kinds of steroids. It's insane to think otherwise. McGwire hit 49 HR's as a rookie yeah we know he did take some stuff but the era had more to do with the fences and the tightly wound ball. And don't give me the Brady Anderson argument unless you want to try to explain Roger Maris.
  16. What is with people that can't spell Mark McGwire's last name. By the way I stand by my statement that Red Bull is thought of exactly the same way as the stuff McGwire used was thought of in 1998. It might be a little unhealthy but thats on the user.
  17. McGwire played in the era where there was no question you took stuff to make you stronger. No different then a guy today drinking a red bull in the dugout, sure towards the end it was illegal but he played in a different era then A-Rod or even Bonds.
  18. Sissy catcher stands behind plate with facemask on fielding throw to plate on bases clearing double. There was a play to be made, and a potential clearing of the benches if the runner got a good shoulder in on him.
  19. Grienke brushed a guys jersey and later after his guy was hit near the head hit a guy in the lower back. If umps wanted to eject him they could have but he really did nothing wrong.
  20. Best part about that is the catcher keeping the mask on the entire fight, including helping toss a guy over the railing. Pathetic he wasn't ejected.
  21. And it will stay at 108. 3-2 pitches that are 6 inches outside of course are outs when you have human umpires. It took Billy Butler less then 30 seconds to go down the tunnel watch the replay and get ejected!!!!
  22. Here we come 108
  23. The only way thats a problem is if they both are what we hope they might be. I expect Sano will be more like the Twins version of David Ortiz then the Red Sox version, and Buxton will probably be more like Torii Hunter then Ken Griffey Jr. We're still very early in development and so far they really haven't done much that Todd Walker or David McCarty didn't do. If they both pan out Target Field will sell out and when they finally make the big bucks we will be on a new TV deal (please bring back the Victory sports concept!!!). Superstars get paid the rest of the roster gets traded or let go to make it work.
  24. I watched 5 innings the positives of the broadcast. We got to see the game. We got a great review of the entire minor league system. If they went to full screen on every Buxton at bat I would not complain. If the name of the batter was either displayed in graphic or commentary 75% of the time (Cubs fans deserved a chance to enjoy the game if they pay for a full sports package or happen to live in Minnesota) I would have no complaint. If they never failed to mention to name a batter (again either in commentary or graphics) who got a hit I would have no complaint. If they wanted to simply focus on Buxton and nobody else and they made that clear in advance I would have no problem with it. If I'm a Cubs fan then I didn't get what I was promised period, as a Twins fan it was something different from what was promised. Maybe they were planning on sending more of a major league crew until they had to change plans because of the double header. Maybe they ran into unexpected last minute problems, but overall this was awful by college or minor league broadcasting standards. I'm fine with not sending a HD camera down but it does happen to be 2013. As someone who is thinking about canceling cable at least until college hockey season starts back up stuff like this needs to be done well to justify the investment I make.
  25. Is that bigger, maybe a little. Must be an intern straight out of St cloud State.
