  1. Anybody else watching the Twins broadcast when Tom Kelly mentioned that Guzman first hurt his shoulder lifting his luggage at the all star game? The beginning of the end for him.
  2. Not sure if minor leaguers count in this thread but the Reds Optioned INF Christian Encarnacion-Strand and RHP Chase Petty to Louisville (
  3. 8 & 16.......Yeah it's spring training, yeah it's early......
  4. There value is much higher if they can develop into starters than relievers so I'd rather give them every chance to be a starter. This team is not competing for anything other than a particiation trophy this year, let the front office see if they can strike gold with some other teams cast offs and go for the gusto in 2027 (or 28 if there's a work stoppage)
  5. Doc, I'm not trying to be sarcastic but Duran, Eddie, Berenger, Aggie and others always raised my blood pressure when they were on the mound. They always seemed to have base runners on. It's the reason they get the big bucks. There was only one Mario Rivera and he wasn't a Twin.
  6. He should go down but who do the Twins have to man third base that's better?
  7. Can he bunt? Move runners over from 2nd to 3rd? Hit a sacrifice fly to score a runner from 3rd? Steal a base when needed? I love a great defensive play as much as a home run and there is more to hitting than OBP. But 766th out of 766 means only one thing, the only way is up!!
  8. I met some friends in Cleveland for a ball game. They were Cleveland fans. The first 2 Indain batters hit balls to straight away center field. Cave dropped them both.
  9. Exactly, there should be zero scholarships handed out this spring. We hear spring training stats don't count but just giving a non pitcher roster spot to anyone not named Luke or Byron is showing that last year was good enough. I will admit to being jealous of Outmans hair.
  10. If my math is correct, cutting 4 out of 5 scouts only leaves one scout left. I'd say if they cut anymore they would have none. I'd call that to the bone.
  11. If Plouffe had come out and said T-3 was lying to our faces what would be the chances of Plouffe ever getting a job on Twins broadcasts? T-3 seems to be trying to do damage control. Talking directly to the players. Season ticket holders. Media(influencers). I'm just wondering.....for a team so heavily dependent on scouting and drafting is it wise to gut the scouting department down to the bone as it is now?
  12. That would be refreshing in itself. I would like to see more fire and holding players accountable for their blunders from the manager. Fire at least looks like they have a sense of urgency into winning the game. Benching a player after mental breakdowns shows the player it's either shape up or get shipped out. Me too. Too many players have to improve too much in order for this team to contend.
  13. Matt Cantereno is also invited to camp. I'm thinking it's time to either fish or cut bait with him also.
  14. He was number 6 last July and the 5 better guys got traded. Not sure if the high leverage adage should be given by default but here we are. Rather than looking at trades as much as anything the Twins need to play good fundamental baseball which includes better defense. If the off season moves brought in coaches that can teach that then the grade goes up, but otherwise a 'D' seems a bit high for this off season.
  15. Baseball is a funny game. Especially if you're going to try to project the future. Who knows, in 3 years we may wish Falvey was still leading the Twins. A small nit pick, Joe Ryan gave a lot of credit for his improvements on the mound to Driveline, not just the Twins staff.
  16. in the mirror?? It's always in the last place you look. Baseball is a team sport and the Twins have been playing it like individual players for a long time. No sacrificing by bunting, no hitting behind runners to advance them, allergic to a sacrifice fly ball. Lewis summed it up last summer when he said he does not want to change his swing during season and lower his arbitration numbers.
  17. This article and all of the comments are missing the biggest point of all. Tom's vision might be the problem but more importanty let's hope it's also the solution.
  18. Lopez is a winner on and off the field. He is also media savvy and knows what to say. He does come off as a person 'who watches his own bobber' and that is for the best with this years team. I disagree with claiming this is a young team. There are zero rookies (Keashall maybe) projected to start in the field. They may play like a young/inexperienced team but chronologically they are not young, just error prone. (Mentally)
  19. I always thought Falvey's hands were tied also. BUT....tin hat time, if Falvey goes to Colorado, Ohl wins the Cy Young award and Julieen wins the batting title then we will know this was planned by Falvey. It would be a great FU to the Pohlads from Falvey.
  20. At one of the games I attended last year Adams came in as a reliever. It looked like batting practice except the contact was louder. I was sitting lower level first base side of the stadium so not the best view but his fastball looked straight as an arrow. Not going to survive in the big leagues with that pitch. I hope the Twins pitching coaches can help him get better.
  21. Miguel Sano's agent said he is now more than ready to go back to Right field since the Twins have a huge need for left handed batting corner outfielders.
