  1. Because he's been pitching so well, he'll be almost out of innings by the All-Star break.
  2. Walters has a plus pitch (the curve), two other average pitches (slider and FB), and decent command. I'm not surprised he's doing this well. His issues the last several years are all related to injuries.
  3. Gibson will be up next year some time, probably to start the year. He's got seven starts left this year. They're not in any hurry to make any of those MLB starts.
  4. The innings limit is 130. He's at 85 innings, giving him about 7 starts, at his current pace. It is highly unlikely he gets any starts in the majors this year. Of course, it's less likely if Albers is ahead of him.
  5. I don't get this thread. Neither Dozier not Florimon is the long-term answer. But the Twins have a lot more pressing problems right now. None of the posters seems to take defense into the discussion at all, yet that is far and away the most important aspect of their games. In this respect, both are better than Either Escobar or Carroll, imho.
  6. How many posters were calling for Jamey Carroll when Plouffe was struggling early in the season? Case in point of why you favor the young guy who can hit the ball over the fence to the old guy who gets most of his hits the other way.
  7. In the last 10 starts, he's averaged 7 innings per start, 8 K/9 with an ERA of 3 and a FIP below that. Find me another Twins prospect who had that kind of record at AAA and yet had to wait for a call-up. The closest I could find was Garza after he was demoted. Considering the sorry state of our rotation, his innings limit, and the fact that he is past any date for Super 2 and the extra year, his continued presence in Roch is a head scratcher.
  8. The whole consistency argument is BS. What do they want? A shutout every game? Apparently that's what it will take to get Gibson up here this year. It makes no sense at this point because he's on an innings limit and he's well beyond the point of either Super 2 status or the extra year.
  9. Terry Ryan's signature move is to go bargain shopping for FAs in the offseason and trade them at the deadline for high A prospects. I wouldn't be surprised if both Correia and Pelfrey are dealt this way.
  10. Law has been ridiculously against that pick from day 1. The way he carries on, the kid slept with Law's daughter and left her in a grocery cart on his doorstep.
  11. Really? I saw him pitch in the Super Regional (on TV). A wrapper who topped out at 90 and sat in the upper 80s. Not much movement. Based on that, I might slot him in at #12 among starting pitching prospects in the system. That puts him in the mid 20s overall, assuming he signs of course.
  12. This. Yet Len III is reporting that Albers is next in line. I doubt Gibson sees the majors this year. They don't seem to value him much.
  13. They have these things called trades. If Pelfrey and Coreia continue to pitch this well, one of them will be dealt at the AS break.
  14. First Benson. Now Slama. Who's next? Butera? THE HUMANITY!
  15. It's irresponsible to offer an opinion that is nonsensical when you get paid to speak truth. I can see saying he thinks it's a reach, but his reasons are so preposterous, it bespeaks extreme bias.
  16. Amaurys Minier says "hi." http://twinsdaily.com/twins-minor-league-talk/2009-twins-2012-international-signings.html
  17. The only time it matters to have Sano, Rosario and Buxton on the same team is when they are all ready for the major league team. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to see that. I expect both Sano and Rosario to make their Twins debuts before the All-Star break in 2014. I wouldn't be surprised to see Buxton in a Twins uni in September of 2014.
  18. Yeah, except that he has 20 range, and has never played center field at any level. What could possibly go wrong. See Cuddyer in center.
  19. He has been very good to excellent in four out of the last five starts. No Twin starter has been as consistent over the last month. All other measures they can cite constitute double standards. Walks? Look at Deduno.
  20. I don't get Laws' disdain for Gonsalves. He says he's not project able, but at 6'5", 18 years old and left handed, he seems the definition of project ability. Watch the video on him. He's got good stuff now, and he has a lot of rough edges. If he smooths those out, he could become something special. Seems like a good pick at #4. Not a reach at all if you go by BA's ranking.
  21. The only downside is preventing real options like Angel Morales and the guy behind him (forgot the name, some fast center fielder) from advancing.
  22. For what it's worth, 2013 Prospect Rankings: Catchers | MLB Draft Countdown rated him the third best catcher in the draft and the best college catcher
  23. I know! This pick is so stupid, it makes you question the whole organization from top to bottom!!! They've completely ruined the whole franchise with this pick! We might as well start rooting for the Brewers, cause this guy is a total waste of resources!
  24. I defer to Baseball America on this pick. By their rankings, he was the best player on the board.
