  1. You were right on Hicks all along, Mr. Bell. He needs more time in AAA. I was for giving him another shot if he earned the job. But his confidence is shot. It's almost like he is afraid to swing lest he make an out. As soon as Fuld is ready, he should go to AAA. But until then, run him out there and hope for the best.
  2. When Fuld comes off the DL, maybe you option Hicks at that point and hope he can find his swing in AAA. But Santana in center is not an option. I was surprised Steiny made that move. It worked this time, it will not work most of the time. For that reason, I doubt Gardy would have done it had he not been ejected.
  3. I like the idea of the Jays DFAing Mastro to make room for Wilson. What does it say to Blue Jays minor leaguers for their team to have such disregard to loyalty?
  4. Well, that was the last hit he gave up. The last six batters Deduno faced made outs, four on strikes. Way to finish out your outing, Sammy.
  5. Deduno has hung too many curveballs today. That one to Kinsler was placed on a tee.
  6. Mostly because he was caught leaning on a pickoff. Wasn't even stealing, I don't think.
  7. That was a hanger to Jackson.
  8. It goes hand in hand. His FB was ex0plosive last year, so he had a hard time controlling it. This year, it looks a lot straighter. He seems to throw more cutters than he did last year as well, perhaps because his FB doesn't have its former movement.
  9. Nine doubles on the season for Escobar, in limited play.
  10. Is it just me, or does Deduno's stuff look much more ordinary?
  11. Worst. Case. Scenario. Bye bye. I have better things to do with my Saturday afternoon. What a difference a day makes. Last night's game was crisp and error free. Three errors and miscues on the bases in the second inning. Yuck.
  12. That should count as two errors on Dozier.
  13. WTF? That was one of the ugliest plays I've ever seen.
  14. It was a hit and run, but it was a pitch out, or, at least the pitch was too far outside for Nunez to hit it.
  15. So dumb. Let's give the reigning Cy Young award winner more outs.
  16. Kinsler was practically standing on third before the pitch. Gibson was paying attention to Hunter instead. It worked out with the DP.
  17. I don't buy that. The best way to create chemistry in winning. Of course you want good character guys. But the best character guys can still preside over a dour clubhouse if the team is perpetually in the tank. Winning perpetuates winning. To win, you need to develop talent, not recycle retreads. The only real value in retreads is to trade them for young talent, which has a chance to help you win down the road.
  18. Just because.they are replacement level or below doesn't mean there's a ready supply of them on the market, at least after the free agent period.
  19. All I know is Parmelee is a huge upgrade over Hermann. He's about as good as Kubel at this stage. That's not a bad thing on this team at this stage.
  20. Of course it would be a center fielder. But he probably won't get claimed. Speedy little no-hit center fielders are like speedy little no-hit shortstops--a dime a dozen.
  21. If so, Arcia's wrist is worse than previously thought. So, maybe the DFAd Hermann? Or, whom?
  22. I hate discussions of random things like injuries. Willingham broke his wrist on a high hard one. Hardly anything anyone could predict.
  23. I have more hope for Santana than you. But I admit, it's more about tools than numbers. Though he has Guzman upside, his floor is Florimon. The one thing that might be deceptive in his numbers is he's been really young for his level at each stop. He's still developing, and if he can harness his incredible tool chest, he could be special. I think it's worth finding out now.
