  1. I'm also doing game stories -- but unlike those you'll see on the Strib or PPress. Last night's was my best one of the year. Please check it out and leave comments if you wish: http://coldomaha.com/2016/twins/97-twins-overcome-miscues-to-salvage-final-game-of-royals-series-with-6-5-win/
  2. This was virtually an identical start to what he did in Houston.
  3. no, this thread was created on the premise that meyer looked good at triple-a. and in like four innings. he's done that before here. like, even this year.
  4. all this because Meyer looked good in Triple-A? OK
  5. if by "for them" you mean four innings in a triple-a game. he looked very good, but he was doing that in the twins organization this year too.
  6. no he didn't. he didn't pitch until 11 days after the trade, and didn't really lengthen out until three weeks after the deal.
  7. that's only half the equation. there's no guarantee he'll perform the same -- he'll be 30 next year -- and you have a ready-made replacement, and a need at other positions. i felt like that was laid out a little in the article, but!
  8. true, but you need a pitcher like that to even reach FA. nothing of that caliber this year
  9. I wrote an article about how the new GM -- whomever it is -- will have to decide what to do with Dozier right away: http://coldomaha.com/2016/twins/the-key-to-the-twins-offseason-is-brian-dozier/ comments, discussion appreciated as always
  10. He's a righty. My comment was about Farfan being LH
  11. Plus he's been with Wisconsin Rapids in the Northwoods League this summer: 6-0 1.40 ERA 40-12 K/BB ratio in 32 IP Read this: http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2016/08/23/buffalos-blair-lakso-taking-his-talent-to-florida/
  12. Not unlike Onas Farfan, who they actually spent a draft pick on. But he's lefty and throws hard. Much ado about nothing.
  13. Maybe, but you have to be careful. Even if you want a look at Gonsalves, you have to protect 40-man flexibility heading into a tricky offseason.
  14. I think they'll leave everyone down there until the season is over. At the very least, until they're eliminated. But it's already a roster playing short talent-wise, so I doubt they'd want to mess with it much until the season is formally over.
  15. I know I'd seen/heard it'll probably be one or the other but not both. Walker is another guy we'll find out about quickly as far as the "new" regime. But I'd guess the 40-man status gives him the leg up for sure.
  16. In essence, a new GM could turn over nearly half the 40-man roster in the span of about a year. That's...wild.
  17. Really well done there, Rosterman. The other thing that intrigues me about a new GM is we'll find out really fast how they feel about Landa, Melotakis and Rosario -- none of whom *feel* all that close to MLB ready. I mean, maybe Melotakis is -- he came off the DL today -- but .....meh.
  18. I wonder if they won't add Wheeler to start in Cleveland, like Seth said on Twitter.
  19. I get it, but they also can't keep throwing guys like Pressly every other day either.
  20. Agree -- unless they need them making starts which.....not great Bob.
  21. Wrote an article about the possible Sept. Call-Ups for this team: http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/al/minnesota-twins/breaking-down-possible-september-call-ups-for-the-twins as always, reading/sharing/discussion is greatly appreciated
  22. Dean and Albers will make starts until Santiago is ready.
  23. I think I might have been agreeing with you. I'm not sure. LOL
  24. Duffey is 3+ years older, and his run last year has to give him some equity. Beyond that, he's nearly 26.
  25. And besides, the Buxton comp is inapt. 1. The Twins have far less invested in Duffey and 2. Duffey actually has somewhat sustained success at the big league level. You can say that Duffey hasn't pitched well, but it's not like he's really got anything to learn or improve upon in AAA. He is who he is. If he's ever going to be a successful starter, this might just end up being his "Scott Baker, 2006" season.
