  1. I don't think that's an actual thing.
  2. Not really. With early days off you can just juggle the rotation.
  3. Verlander. Age + durability = slam dunk.
  4. So maybe Dozier plays short and Nishioka plays second? Or maybe -- shudder -- Dozier heads back to New Britain?
  5. Maybe the Astros? Ha ha. Bud Norris for Ben Revere. I'd do that deal today.
  6. Carl Pohlad is the only owner in any teams HOF?
  7. I could see it, but then I think Mauer and Doumit share 1B with Towles coming north to spell Mauer behind the plate. (Rather than Parmelee coming up, that is) No scenario that has Doumit behind the plate more than 20-25 times this year is a good one.
  8. June 1 Sept 1 July 1 Sept 1 Hendriks right away because either Marquis isn't good, or someone gets hurt. To be honest, still not quite sure why another go-round with Duensing -- for all his faults -- wasn't a better idea than Marquis. Parmelee will do well in Rochester, but I think the Twins will return to the notoriously slow promotion practice that we had seen in previous -- read: better -- years. If Morneau isn't healthy/ready, get ready to see a lot of Ryan Doumit, or maybe even someone like Trevor Plouffe at first. Dozier will be up at mid-season because Alexi will Ca-see himself out. Benson is last because the Twins know he needs the most work -- in terms of raw talent versus refinement -- and they already have to sort out a handful of OF as-is.
  9. From the sounds of it, Nelson is going to be starting at third for the Rockies until Arenado is ready.
  10. Can't say I'm surprised or too bummed. Was hoping the club would use that top waiver spot a bit more judiciously though.
  11. It's been a little while since I've chatted w/ KG about it, but he did tell me he liked the Twins OF prospects as much as anyone's. This was maybe 6 months ago.
  12. Only Oliveros really surprises me, and he'll get a shot. Last year he only got his chance because of how hamstrung the club was.
  13. Platooning with Plouffe in left and batting ninth. Don't expect that Span-Hicks-Benson OF anytime soon. Willingham is inked for 3 years.
  14. Love Escobar's defense, but he's a total zero with the stick, and I don't see that changing. Carroll isn't great shakes either, so they'll be neck-and-neck for the last place, but it's still a huge boost from Nishioka-Plouffe.
  15. Ramirez-Peralta-Cabrera-Carroll-Escobar.
  16. Cabrera-Moustakas-Chisenhall-Valencia-Morel
  17. Let me throw this one into the mix....I've heard good and bad things about "The Fan"
  18. Field of Dreams. Watched it a couple weeks ago, and my wife kept trying to talk to me near the end. Brutal. But honestly, for the first time in my life, I was completely enthralled for the entire 100 whatever minutes of it. I hadn't watched it in about 10 years or so, and I think the mental processes in my brain that have developed in the meantime really helped me 'get' it. Moneyball was absolutely great too. I know Keith Law didn't like it or whatever -- "Keith Law disapproves" of just about everything -- but it was a baseball movie that didn't bastardize the game, and didn't pull too many punches. I mean I like the 'fun' ones; Angels in the Outfield is great if you aren't looking for a ton of realism, but I hate the movies that make baseball seem as easy as it looks on TV. It just feeds the stereotypes that non-baseball fans have....i.e. it's boring, etc.
  19. Yeah, I'd say somewhere between Baker and Radke. I lean towards Radke because I don't know if Hendriks will ever fan as many guys as Baker, but at the same time, he should give a way fewer longballs than either of them. If he's the Twins #3-4 guy for the next 6-8 years, that's probably a good thing.
  20. Would you retire Radke's jersey? I'm probably a bit of an oddball in this regard -- maybe KBro too, haha -- but I'd retire it.
  21. Personally I'd have a look at what StatCorner has to say on park factors. According to them, Target Field had a LHH HR park factor of 91 (comp'd to 95 for RHH). That's certainly a depressing factor -- depressing in a different sense -- but I'd have to believe there are teams with lower marks. Alas, Arizona's park factor for LHH bombs is 114; you think that Kubel signing was a calculated move? Oh, yes.
