  1. Which of Counsell's decisions have been inexplicable? The only one that stands out to me is that he kept trusting Jeffress, although I guess he did come through in game 6.
  2. I presume today's game was fulfilling the dying wish of some Nebraskan boy.
  3. Moral victory?
  4. Saturday, Oct. 20 NLCS Game 7! For all the (National League) marbles! 7:09 pm CDT Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers Walker Buehler vs Jhoulys Chacin TV: FS1
  5. Dozier sighting! Pinch hitting for the pitcher in the 5th, draws a 4 pitch walk... ...and he scores (barely) on a David Freese double!
  6. Better late than never... Friday Oct. 19 7:39 pm CST NLCS Game 6 Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers (Dodgers lead series 3-2) TV: FS1
  7. I think one should root Brewers tonight, if only to ensure more baseball (and a game 7) tomorrow night. This postseason needs a deep series!
  8. Another Dozier sighting! Pinch hit RBI groundout, Dodgers up 5-1 in the 7th.
  9. And the guy that relieved him, Woodruff, has completed 4 innings and is starting his 5th right now. Batted twice too.
  10. Miley was actually on short rest today, so it makes sense. He is slated to start the next game (game 6), on full rest. Think of it less like they pulled their starter super-early today, and more like they used their starter for a one-batter match up on his throw day.
  11. Thanks for the correction! I forgot about that Arizona daylight-savings weirdness.
  12. Not quite. Per Baseball-Reference: Start Time: 9:09 p.m. ET Game Duration: 5:15 That would peg the end at 12:24 a.m. MST. EDIT: per ashburyjohn, it was actually 11:24 MST in Arizona because they don't do daylight savings time.
  13. I suppose I should have included today's probable starting pitchers (although who knows how long they will pitch anymore!). MIL at LAD Wade Miley vs Clayton Kershaw BOS at HOU Rick Porcello vs Charlie Morton Morton has me worried -- he had some late-season injury issues, so he hasn't pitched at all since Sep. 30 (regular season), and hasn't gone longer than 3 innings since Sep. 15. And a loss would put Boston up 3-1 in the series.
  14. Wednesday, Oct. 17 Potentially our last baseball doubleheader of 2018! (There will hopefully be another one Saturday, if the Astros win one of the next 2 games and the NLCS goes to 7 games.) 4:05 pm CST NLCS Game 5 Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers (series tied 2-2) TV: FS1 7:39 pm CST ALCS Game 4 Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros (BOS leads 2-1) TV: TBS
  15. And Dozier with a walk and a stolen base his next time up, in the 3rd inning. ...and his teammates strand him at second base.
  16. Dozier actually got the start tonight, batting fifth, and delivers an RBI single in the first inning.
  17. Or in other words, a baseball fan.
  18. Another doubleheader day! Including a game that should be over well before bedtime. Tuesday Oct. 16 4:09 pm CST ALDS Game 3 Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros (series tied 1-1) TV: TBS Radio: ESPN 8:09 pm CST NLDS Game 4 Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers (MIL leads series 2-1) TV: FS1 Radio: ESPN
  19. If you re-arrange it, it can still look like that. 1 AB, 1 strikeout, 1 swing, on 4 pitches!
  20. I thought it was a strike. Gameday had it touching the corner.
  21. Dozier sighting! Tying run at the plate! Edit: called out looking at strike 3 to end the game.
  22. Those that like starting pitchers going deep into games: the Dodgers let SP Buehler bat for himself, with a runner on 2nd and 1 out in the 5th, down 1-0. He struck out, and proceeded to give up a run in the 6th, and 2 more in the 7th. Dodgers down 4-0 at the moment. Buehler at 100 pitches through 7, due up 4th in the bottom of the inning, so I imagine he is done for the night.
  23. I'd take this with a grain of salt, as it is pretty subjective and Pressly doesn't really say anything bad about the Twins operation. It's quite possible he was just more receptive to this kind of discussion in Houston, given their status/title. It wouldn't surprise me if the Astros analytics department is better than that of the Twins, obviously, but they've also had a lot more time to establish themselves. If we're still seeing these quotes a few years down the line, and posting these kind of middling records a few years down the line, obviously that will indicate a problem.
  24. Monday, Oct. 15 6:39 pm CST NLDS Game 3 Milwaukee Brewers Los Angeles Dodgers (series tied at 1-1) TV: FS1
  25. Hey, his team got the win! Although he came up 1 out short of qualifying for the "win" himself. I'm sure it was mentioned a lot during the broadcast, but for those like me who didn't watch last night, it's worth noting that prior to yesterday, Price's teams were 0-10 in his postseason starts. Now up to 1-10!
