  1. Well, he's right, he don't have too many good pitchers...in fact, we don't have any that don't have question marks...
  2. exactly
  3. Whenever you sign anyone you take on risk...no matter what time frame of team building you're at. Twins can afford to take on those kind of risks from now till likely 2016, 2017 without hindering the team in the least...at any year...cause payroll is just going to drop next year and the year after and the year after that...Morny, Carroll, Blackburn, Willigham, Doumit...all that payroll is gone by 2015 season....being replaced by very cheap players coming up. And signing a guy to a three year contract now, won't hurt any ability to sign people from 2016 on...they'll be off the books by then....and payroll will still be low. There is zero downside. None.
  4. Well the second guy was...seems he's confused about what the first guy was saying...but whatever
  5. Yes and they are saying if Prado can't be extended it's a bad trade for them. 'Prado is a pretty solid player but for this to be an okay deal then the DBacks have to sign him to an extension.' To which the other poster agreed
  6. They mean Prado
  7. Yeah, they must be REAL fans....
  8. YOU call the WAR useless. Notice I said FOR THOSE WHO VALUE THE WAR STAT. Anyway, glad to know you feel you know me well enough to just make assumptions on what I'm thinking. I do this quite often, all over the internet where I talk sports...sometimes, I just throw info out there. Like here you go...here's something to ponder...
  9. are you under the impression I was picking a side on this trade? I was just throwing some info out there for those who think Arizona got completely robbed. I think Prado and Upton aren't that far apart, especially when you consider Prado's a starter quality player who plays multiple spots.
  10. For those who like the WAR stat: Just last year, Prado had a WAR of 5.9, Justin Upton 2.5.
  11. Along with different statements that basically boil down to: 'since you've never been a GM/Big League Manager, you don't know what you're talking about and have no right to complain.' P.S., before I get slammed again, I'm not talking about this thread...just in general. Comments that come out when Ryan/Gardy defenders have nowhere to go but to use that kind of debating tactic.
  12. People don't like being lied to straight to their faces...
  13. if...
  14. I give your prediction a like for the pure ballsiness of it...
  15. Mets outfield, if you combine offense and defense, could end up being the worst OF ever...
  16. So, how long before Kubel is traded to the Tigers? In less than a week? Just kidding...
  17. So ever so slightly worse than Jeter's :-)
  18. He just had surgery...I worry about his health and durability. Again, I'm optimistic about him. What I'm saying is, and my point was always that, we really don't know what he is yet at the major league level.
  19. additionally, some seem to think it's a foregone conclusion Worley is a #3 type pitcher. He's only been in the bigs 2 seasons, had one very good year and one ok year. Thing is though, he hasn't pitched even 135 innings in either season and he was hurt last year. We don't know what we have with him yet. Granted, I'm optimistic too, but it's not like we know we have a solid #3 guy who is gonna get us 170+ innings with an ERA around 4.00.
  20. Of all the prospects that are close, Arcia is my favorite one...heck, he may just be my favorite prospect, period.
  21. amazing stuff, that duct tape...that and Simple Green. That stuff gets every damn stain out :-)
  22. Thanks for the clarification
  23. funny
  24. I'm with you...on your whole post, but I thought I'd point out it's even more than 20M below. We're about 32M below what payroll was 2 years ago. 112M in 2011.
  25. I've seen quite a few argue about how signing 3 year contracts will cripple our ability to sign others in the next couple years when we'll supposedly be competing. Not on this thread necessarily, but a few others. The last three years payroll has been fine...in the next quite a few it should be real low. And just for giggles, I liked how people keep talking about how Mauer's payroll is gonna cripple us because of the percentage of payroll his salary takes up and I'm like, well, if payroll keeps dropping, that percentage will keep going up :-)
