  1. So, we DON"T want a pitcher who is gonna give us 180+ innings with an ERA+ of 100 or higher? That'd make him, arguably, our best starter.
  2. Yeah, I'm a fan of his as well.
  3. There's always a bunch of shortstops drafted. Like 120 or so just last year...as opposed to maybe 50 2Bs. Shortstops often get converted...they may have played SS at whatever school they played before, but they get moved in the minors. They're targeted because of their athleticism. So for anyone to say we were really pushing to fill our shortstop need cause we drafted some and signed some cheap FA shortstops nobody wanted (Everett, Castro) is just grasping for straws. And if they actually believe hat, then they need to point out the pure incompetence of the people signing/drafting them. Either way, it doesn't look good... It's like the whole thing about how we really addressed pitching cause we drafted so many pitchers...no, we didn't...we didn't draft an unusual amount of pitchers.
  4. Benson has some speed...he's quite fast...covers a lot of ground. Just sayin'
  5. Revere made Span a better CFer? How so?
  6. last year, according to baseball-reference, the Twins ranked just below league average in defensive efficiency. 2012 Major League Baseball Standard Fielding - Baseball-Reference.com according to baseball prospectus, we ranked 18th http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1091208 ..and we lost our two best defenders in the offseason...
  7. ...and the defense those two provided...making our weak defense even weaker.
  8. IF we have a deeper pitching staff in 2015...
  9. No, I'm comparing playoff results...you wanna give them a pass for losing 12 straight cause of payroll issues, cool...good on ya...but the team managed 94 wins with a payroll under 100M...and couldn't scrap out even one playoff win. Other teams have gotten to the second round and even into the W Series with a lower payroll than ours... and heck, it could easily apply to ANY team, especially when you throw that in with consecutive seasons with at least 95 losses. MLB record for consecutive playoff losses is 13. 2006 we have the MVP, the batting champ, the CY Young winner, HR hitting and gold glove wearing CF, a top 3 closer, Cuddy knocking in 100 RBI...and we get swept by Oakland.
  10. ah man, didn't see your post before I gave the answer...sorry buddy :-)
  11. It was a trick question, the managers of those teams would have never even reached 12 straight playoff losses before they were canned :-) And you are definitely right about 'the following two 95+ loss seasons would have certainly done them in on just about any team, regardless of if it was NY or Boston or whoever.'
  12. Quick question...in today's day and age, if the Red Sox, Angels or Yanks manager led his team to 12 straight playoff losses, regardless of the opponent, would that manager stay the manager, or would he be canned?
  13. I haven't been a Gardy supporter since around August 2007. Coincidentally, Ryan lost me in 2007 as well, though earlier.
  14. Whatever you say... Just like when you assume someone is taking sides of an issue when all he does is post a stat for people to ponder, that guy should just tell you to piss off. Since you seem to know what people are thinking without them saying it, guess what I'm thinking now?
  15. That's good to know. Thanks
  16. Ah, and he called you jenny...truly representing his city well...
  17. I wonder if Ryan's office is padded?

  19. Wouldn't it be nice for an owner to say, 'I told my GM he has a ceiling of X amount of money to spend, and I'm gonna let him do what he needs to do with that much. If he spends it all or not, that's as high as we'll go. '? it's a pipe dream, we'll never hear any owner say that, or anything close, but man honesty like that would go a long way.
  20. my favorite part: 'If the 2013 season started today, the payroll would sit right around $80 million -- still much higher than any single-season payroll the Twins had at the Metrodome, but significantly lower than in previous years at Target Field.' 'Much higher', as if there's no such thing as inflation. then there's: ' Since moving into Target Field prior to the 2010 season, the Twins have had payrolls of approximately $97 million. $113 million and $100 million.' Wasn't payroll 94M last year?
  21. Wow, how bad does someone have top be where PUNTO is a vastly superior player...
  22. Nationals didn't hurt themselves too much when they got Gio..certainly didn't mortgage their farm too bad...and the best prospect they lost they got back already...AJ Cole. And they also have Gio for at least 4 more years...up to 6
  23. Gardy said that in the article linked on this thread
  24. Doumit will likely DH more...and since Morny is good to go, the need to play Mauer at 1B drops. Still, it doesn't make much sense for him to catch 120+ games, and with the way Gardy runs the show and having 3 catchers, it's doubtful he will...but he should catch more than last year.
