    Pelfrey gets his chance. I hope he takes it and shines. but what a bummer.

    I see a big year for Vargas, with some growing pains. But he'll average .275-.280 with 26 doubles and 28 bombs. A bright spot for us this year.

    I too admire your optimism. I'm not nearly as high on the guys as you are, but look forward to seeing how Molitor handles the team and the season. At least it's baseball time again.

    May 15th Poof is hitting .189 with 3 doubles and a dinger. He rides off in the sunset never to be heard from again.

    Best in the division. Breakout last year and better this season. .274 ave, 345/440/750 with 22 hr's and 38 doubles. The bright spot for this team.

    Have you been down here and watched. And over at the minors and watched? If not so, best to trust those that have. Boyer is a better pick than Tonkin or Burdi now. Tonkin isn't lighting it up in the minors and Burdi's still a ways away. Hicks belongs in the minors. Sheesh, a couple weeks ago posters wanted the best team to break camp. That's just what's happening and now more complaining.

    It wouldn't be very helpful being right next to him and getting hammered every night either. Meyer's got work to do yet before he's ready to come up.

    I'll bet it didn't go real smoothly. They both aired laundry, and as Terry said, a healthy exchange. So now that that is out of the way we focus on the future. Pelf did a good job in relief today.

    The results this season could end up being the same, but there's certainly an attitude change here. Who knows why. Gardy being gone, Mollie saying the right things, the addition of new faces? It's hard to tell but a lot more enjoyable for us fans here. Yesterday was a short practice and the players here all seemed pleased with that. I had Ervin Santana sign a ball for me and told him I'd never seen anyone smile as much as he. He smiled. Mauer, Dozier, Suzuki, and even Perkins signed for the few fans that were there. As a team they've been much more cordial than in recent years. Nolasco has a much better attitude this year compared to last. So does Plouffe. I sense the guys are having some fun, and having fun can translate to being more relaxed and better results. Torii has added alot to the camp. Now to see if any of that helps in the win column.

    I really think it's between Pelfrey and May now. Milone hasn't shown much as far as I'm concerned and doesn't throw hard enough for the pen.

    Welcome to Ft Myers, John. Life doesn't get much better than this. I've been told they have 50 kinds of beer at the stadium. I don't drink, much, but did try the beer shake last year and was surprised how good it was. I'm an old dog, but learned a new trick. I've golfing friends down now so we spend time on the courses, but tomorrow will go over for the minor leagues, and Pudge is in town so try to track him down.

    One thing I found interesting yesterday was they were working Plouffe at 1st base. TK had he and Mauer on the half field for a long time, and then TK had Plouffe on the big field wihile bp was going on.

    Sano is playing right now in a game. The new roster out today has Sano at AA, Buxton remains at AAA.

    Right. He should of caught that ball, and then got a late start on the hit with 2 outs.

    At first they only go a couple of innings, as they are on pitch counts, and still are. Yesterday Milone threw 60, and May 45. Next time Milone will go to 75 and May to 60. May is one outing behind Milone now. Not much of a day off for those two yesterday, and I thought Perkins would throw too. No sign of him. Maybe today in the games at the minor league end.

    I think what we're seeing here is Molitors approach differing from Gardy's. Molly talks to these guys and I would imagine explained his reasoning. He most likely wants to see more of those left to have a better handle on who to take north. In the same time those sent down will get more playing time there, and that word gets back to Molly too.

    I, of course, would like to see him alot sooner than Sept. More like May 1st, and playing full time at 3rd base.

    Sano too? Well TR said Sano would probably be in the next round of cuts. He needs playing time too and will get more innings down in camp. The sooner he shakes the rust, the better.

    I love this article. It's like you picked my brain! And as he says, situations dictate the approach. Take yesterday leading off, why not jack one if you can. But the day before he gets two hits to center and another to right center. If he can do that, and has confidence doing it, laying off trying to pull the ball all the time, his average has to climb. I can see a raise of .025 in his average this year, while not falling back in other areas. He does that and I might get on the extension train.

    I would list the stars just the opposite. I've been saying since last year Dozier has to use the entire field and raise his average. Today he did just that. I'm very encouraged. Giving up a couple of doubles and a single in 3 for Malone isn't much to write home about, but he did get out of trouble.
