  1. Any predictions on his stat line? I'm going 5.1 IP 7 h 4 r/er 3 bb 4 k
  2. For all the angst and complaining the Twins called up May right on the schedule that made sense considering his injury and rain out. Pretty much exactly as they said.
  3. And they will. Schafer really isn't going to play all that much unless they really want to get Santana back to SS.
  4. As said, having a fifth guy that plays cf and near mlb ready seems unrealistic. Teams have to backfill roster depth all the time. In the past two years the Twins have graduated 2 of, ss, 2 1b/dh, 2 rp, 2 so and might do another so before the year is over. That is substantial talent going from the farm to the majors. They can't always fill every spot. The three main studs are still on the way. I think there has to be realistic expectations for the farm system. After all this it will still be #2. That's pretty amazing.
  5. I have many more questions about Rosario at this point than I do Hicks.
  6. This is a really good point. Actually trying to build a roster that makes sense.
  7. Time for Hicks to develop and Tommy Milone.
  8. They need a backup cf and they don't want Hicks in the majors yet. A former highly regarded prospect is as good an option as anyone for this role. Worth a flyer to see if they can extract some value. Perhaps exactly the type of move a rebuilding team should do. One of my main complaints about the front office is they don't sign enough of these guys.
  9. I bet he goes 85-90 and then majors. It would be irresponsible to have a guy make his debut coming back from an injury and not fully built up.
  10. This is the common defense, but splitting a great player into complementary pieces just generally doesn't work too well. I think the Rays get a similar return in the offseason, that would be my complaint.
  11. Just going to say the same thing, got it off mlbtraderumors. Doing something like that just seems like a whole lot of work for such a brief payoff.
  12. LEN3 update: http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/269407811.html Key graph:
  13. I agree. I also think the return for Duensing is very light.
  14. Karabell is a fantasy guy. People in national media who say this about Pinto haven't seen him play. I'm not against it, but it sets the team up for a huge hole next year if Pinto can't catch.
  15. He can't do a qualifying offer for a player traded mid-season. This is a pure rental.
  16. The Twins still need a catcher going forward, external options for next year aren't great. If Pinto is legit he'll get his time. Unless you have great hope in Herrmann or Fryer.
  17. If the Suzuki rumors are true, Willy and Duensing are the only two options in my mind.
  18. I would be pretty surprised if Meyer makes a start this year in Minnesota. Do expect him out of the bullpen in September (or perhaps earlier). May will get his audition soon enough. This is not to say they won't be on the opening day roster, but that won't be Plan A (or probably B or C) going into spring training.
  19. This is probably exactly what it is. His value was not as high as he might have thought, the Twins said take our reasonable two year extension now and let's move on. With the FA options out there and limited return (according to rumors), I don't have a huge problem with it.
  20. Both Meyer and May wouldn't start the season in the rotation even if they hadn't gotten Milone. What this probably means is they probably won't go after a starter in free agency like I hoped they would.
  21. I suspect you have not read their write ups for his trades. BA isn't crazy, they know a big part of farm systems is for trades.
  22. Why does Baseball America hate him?
  23. This is correct on May. They aren't going to have him debut on a short pitch count. He will be up after that.
