  1. Fair enough. I was posting off my phone so I was a little more direct and to the point than I might be if I was on a computer.
  2. What are you talking about? I was asking clarifying questions on his post.
  3. Do you mean "we" here as us the fans or as the Twins organization? And who said anything about a year?
  4. I'll respond a couple of ways and then end my tjoughts on this matter. First, I personally don't really care that much how people discuss the Twins. I find the constant negativity more humorous than anything. I would probably respond a little more spirited and with more snark - but don't out of respect for the admins and their site. It is their money and time invested so the least I can do is respect their rules. Perhaps I shouldn't speak for others, but it does seem there are many people who want to engage the discussions more but don't because of the constant negativity. That should be of concern to all people here. Finally, there are things to criticize about the team, but I question if it needs to be basically everything. If everything becomes negative it ruins the credibility of valid critiques. Yes the past two yeats have been bad but it doesn't take a raging homer to see good things are being done and there is reason for optimism in the very near future.
  5. I wanted Gibson up a month ago. That said, thos specific concern is vastly overrated in my opinion. It is good to get a taste of the bigs but a couple weeks worth of starts is not going to make a huge difference. He needed to get work and reps in and perhaps there is validity in working out the kinks in a lower pressure environment of AAA. Make sure he is as ready as he can be to stay permanently.
  6. Hard to believe that fans of a team that want to talk a little baseball are getting bored/frustrated/sick of a constant drum beat of negativity with every move or decision the team makes.
  7. Or the easy answer is they are responding to feedback from the majority of users. You are a smart individual, you should be able to adjust a little. The board will be better for it.
  8. Maybe. But at some point if it hurts the website overall and consumes too much time a response seems prudent.
  9. He'll get his shot soon enough. He is probably the first call up if a non infielder or catcher gets hurt and there should be a trade of some sort.
  10. Shoulder. Doesn't seem too serious.
  11. I'll add my thanks as well. Very useful posts.
  12. I thought he could have been up a month and a half ago but now he is up and I hope he does well. And I also hope he can stay up permanently, which was probably the ultimate goal of the front office from the beginning. My question - if he does well is the Twins approach vindicated or should he have been called up earlier? Will people actually enjoy his success or use it as more reason to attack the FO and whine?

    No question.
  14. Seriously? It generally takes a large effort to make jokin look like the sane one.
  15. Sure. But his value was limited in the offseason, he would not have brought back nearly as much as anyone thinks. I'm fine with trading Correia, but he isn't bringing back much either. There better be a clear replacement at the time, and I would imagine Gibson will be up before then.
  16. Are you implying people would rather see Gibson over someone like Walters?
  17. In the lineup today! Clearly the Twins read our forums. I also think he got caught up as the Twins were facing some lefties and other guys were playing better. He'll get some chances before the season is over.
  18. I would be interested in how you define soft? I would think they compare favorably with basically any franchise in the past 4 years - which was the same point that they were able to increase budgets with the opening of Target Field.
  19. He might be the most interesting (not best) prospect in the system. He has the tools and skills to be an absolute monster.
  20. Correct - the Twins have gotten at least one guy off of the BA top 30 each of the past 4 years. No attack, it is a good question wish I had the time to give a better and more complete answer.
  21. I don't have the time to find each individual rank but everyone I mentioned was on BA's top 30 list for that year. I'm not saying that is the best ranking but it is the one I use.
  22. What type of player do you think will actually be out there? And which prospects would you be willing to surrender at this point?
  23. Sano, Polanco, Kepler in 09 Landa, another DR pitcher, Pimentel in 10/11 - I'm blanking on names and years. Minier and the Aussie lefty in 12 Google would fill in the blanks.
  24. I understand fip and the value it has and the components that go in to it. I don't accept it as a better measure of what actually happened. I would grant it is often a better indicator as to what may happen in the future.
