  1. You forgot the best one out there, Liriano....sarc off..
  2. It doesn't matter if Boston takes on the contract for a couple of reasons. The Twins most likely wouldn't spend the proceeds. Or they wouldn't spend all of it because they value FA lower than the market bears. Thus the reason they won't spend there recently freed up 25-30 million. I know it is still early, but I would be shocked if they sign anyone from the tier two pitchers.
  3. Yeah I though he would get more (around 10 per year), I would have liked if the Twins went 2/18.
  4. And now I read that it was a 2 year $15.5 million dollar deal....and a little bit more disappointed.
  5. Well, now I am a little disappointed. This is the pitcher that I wanted in the off-season Brandon McCarthy signs with the Diamondbacks....bummer. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/diamondbacks-to-sign-brandon-mccarthy.html
  6. 1)Mastroianni CF 2)Carrol 2B 3)Mauer C 4)Willingham LF 5)Morneau 1B 6)Doumit DH 7)Plouffe 3B 8)Parmalee RF 9)Florimon SS SP - Diamond That is what I think the opening day lineup will be.
  7. Joe Blanton to sign with the Angels and Jeff Francis to sign with the Rockies.
  8. I guess at this point I am hoping for McCarthy, Lannan, and Saunders. And hoping that Liriano would be considered a bullpen addition.....a lot of hoping and listening to Mackey, my standards have dropped a ton.
  9. My 3 would be: Dan Haren - 3 yr/13 million per Brandon McCarthy - 2 yr/10 million per Joe Saunders - 2 yr/8 million per year
  10. So, does this signify that they don't plan to add anybody from free agency? Why would they fill the 40 man if they would have to take people off if they sign free agents?
  11. I have also been seeing the weather. To me, this isn't a factor either since the summers are nice and the majority of the players live south for the winters in the off-season anyway.
  12. Bobby Abreau went from 16m to 5m when he was done with the Yankees....he was a year older...but it is not like it has never happend before.
  13. The annual Mark DeRosa thread by VodkaDave...nice.
  14. Brilliant the way it turned out, but it could have also got Hamilton killed if it did hit him in the head (I don't really mean killed but hurt pretty badly). That is probably why Wash wad pacing back and fourth in the dugout. It was just plain stupid, you have your team competing for the playoffs and you do something dumb like that against a bad team, your team and your best offensive player are the only ones that you can really hurt in that situation.
  15. This innings limit is fine, but why the hell aren't they skipping starts instead of shutting him down prior to and during the playoffs? I like the Nats but am now secretly hoping that they don't ever make the playoffs again and then Stras leaves because of it. I don't get the logic of them not skipping starts.
  16. So is it safe to say if the Twins sweep the Indians in Cleveland, they will win the World Series? Last time the Twins swept Cleveland in Cleveland was '91...seem logical to me.
  17. That is why Blackie is struggling, he doesn't have the real starting catcher out there to calm him down, tell him to keep the ball low, mix his pitches...you know the stuff pitchers learn in high school.
  18. Yeah! Go Aints!!....oh I am with ya that the Saints can do whatever they please, but when they start asking for public money to fund refurbishing their stadium...they really shouldn't tick off the majority of the tax payers. Did I use majority correctly?
  19. RP - Yeah, that looks pretty ugly with a lot of hoping and praying. I could definetly see it going that way but I hope the deadline passes with maybe a Liriano trade and then they go out heavily in FA to get 3 second teir starting pitchers. I put Joe Saunders in my rotation pick cause he would fit well with the Lefty/Righty mix and I think the Twins were high on him a few years back...but I could be making that up, and he pitched well last year and this year is going pretty good for him too.
  20. Brandon McCarthy (5/54, 10.8/year) Scott Diamond Anibal Sanchez (5/48.5, 9.7/year) Joe Saunders (2/13, 6.5/year) Kyle Gibson
  21. I think trading Willingham makes more sense. I fear that the outfield defense would not be that good with Willingham - Revere - Parmalee, I would rather see Revere - Span - Parmalee. But if we are a few starting pitching free agent signs away to be competitive again, I think keeping them both would make sense. I like the outfield of Willingham - Span - Revere (minus the crap arm strength) but I like the Span, Revere, Mauer, Willingham batting order.
  22. Here is the offseason splash that the Twins will make: Anibel Sanchez (SP) Jeremy Gutherie/Aaron Cook (SP) Kelly Johnson (2b) Kelly Johnson is wishful thinking.
  23. Just heard on the radio that it sounds like Morneau ask for "a peice of this kid"
