  1. Wouldn't it be fair to say then that he's an even worse SS? Which means that the Dodgers acquiring Hanley has little to do with their confidence in gordon as previously argued in this thread. Not sure if you're paying attention to this thread but it's about Gordon. Imo Gordon is a fair amount worse than Revere offensively and I'm not really interested in a low .600's OPS with mediocre defense even if that player is a SS and steals bases. Revere is kind of unimpressive as a starter but at least he has a chance at a .700 OPS and plays good defense.
  2. I managed to trade my franchise player in my dynasty (with 3 other TD'ers) at the last possible minute. I really made a killing on that trade in hindsight. ARod, Quentin and Parker (looking pretty good) for Sano, Erlin and Skaggs. VD stole Sano from me but that trade should work out for both of us.
  3. The Dodgers got Hanley for free so this argument doesn't go anywhere. And he can play 3B unlike anyone else on the Dodgers.
  4. I like it how Dave hypes up gordon and then says he's not worth anything close to a top 100 prospect. I have never been a fan of gordon so I'm not surprised by his struggles. He might be similar to Revere but he's not as good of a hitter as Revere. He might have hit .302 in the minors but Revere hit .326 and people seem to think he's a .290-.300 hitter in the majors. I could see Gordon hitting .270 and not walking or hitting for any power. Mediocre defense kind of sinks his value to a utility player. and the Dodgers aren't going to just give him away this offseason. they will want someone pretty good imo.
  5. I really don't see the point of trading 1-2 top prospects for a top SS when your rotation will make it impossible to win more than 75 games. 2-3 yrs ago I would be pushing this trade as much (or more) as anyone.
  6. I already tuned out to the MLB team last season and spent more time following the prospects. it's just going to get better next season since very few disappointed and now they have added meyer and the #4 pick in addition to full season ball for several that were in rk ball last year.
  7. Unless it's a IF'er or a front line player I don't have any mlb needs right. Beckett would be interesting if I didn't already have 9 starters. I will be shopping ervin pretty hard since I don't need him.
  8. I hope he does but I am not completely sure.
  9. It's pretty simple. You trade for Asdrubal if you are also signing Greinke and a 2nd very good pitcher. He's only under contract for 2 more seasons and you have to assume that the Indians would be asking for really good prospects. Possibly 2 of the Twins top 10.
  10. But it is still an incomplete argument unless the Twins were as high on JR Graham as some are. The pitchers that the Twins thought were worth Span were in the MLB. Did they ask for MLB ready guys or did they name guys that were in the MLB?
  11. I think it's awesome that you read a great resource and this is your only takeaway. Using your logic BA, BP and Sickel's also have crappy lists since they haven't updated their lists.
  12. saving this post for later. I might put in links to all of the prospect lists and scouting reports that we find. Or perhaps I'll be lazy.
  13. Instead of creating a new thread each time a list is posted we might as try to compile some of the thoughts and lists into one thread. I just found this list http://prospect361.com/al-prospects/minnesota-twins/ and it is well done. After a little digging this seems to be done by a fantasy prospect hound that does weekly segments on XM/Sirius and he also seems to have considerable contacts throughout baseball. His list - click on the link and you will get full scouting reports on each prospect: Sano Buxton Arcia Hicks Rosario Kepler Berrios Gibson Harrison Goodrum The most interesting comment regarding Kepler which is something that I've mentioned before
  14. I would be careful making any judgements using stats. He was a college pitcher with an upper 90's fastball playing in A ball. he could have been missing his spots by a mile but still getting swings because he was flat out better than the competition. It wouldn't surprise me if the walks rose quite a bit as he moves up in the minors. FWIW - I like Meyer more everyday and I'm going to try not to get carried away but I also can't wait to see what he does in AA and hopefully AAA this season.
  15. I hope that Arcia and Hicks have made their way into the lineup by the end of the season and have shown that they belong in a starting lineup to give the Twins an awesome OF defense. Ideally the Twins roll with something like LF - Revere, CF - Hicks and RF - Arcia. I also hope that Parmelee (along with Plouffe) shows that he is a legit MLB hitter regardless of where he plays. It would be really nice to have 4 (not revere in LF) young, cheap average or better MLB hitters claim their spots in the lineup for several years. Unfortunately a couple will bust but it will be the start of the end of this disaster.
  16. Lavarnway is more of a DH than a catcher. Are there really any Salty rumors or is just people speculating since the Sox signed Ross?
  17. Name might have been part of the blockbuster but I might have gotten my 3Bman. Plouffe there it is. I'm not sure I can argue for/against any part of the Upton/Latos and Medlen/Sandoval trade
  18. I would be in for a Gophers shirt partly because I like colors (purple/yellow really doesn't work as an example) and despite not going there I've always felt connected to the real UofM (10 yrs in Michigan). Using Ben's theme something like 'We were good before' or 'We're good at sports you don't like/care about' might work. My order for 6 shirts is in. I didn't mention it earlier but I'm not a fan of either TWolves shirt. I'm not a big fan of individual player shirts as much as cool team designs especially if they aren't obvious (the lake show).
  19. Were Minor/Delgado never in play or were they never in play because Hanson was already gone? Tough to say imo.
  20. David Ross is a backup (a great backup) so I don't understand why the starting catcher would be available.
  21. yet they did it with Rosario. It's easy to say that Revere should have been moved to 2nd but I'm guessing that the Twins considered it and ultimately decided that it wouldn't work. That's being realistic.
  22. it all depends on whether or not they are getting 6/120+ and 6/90. I think Greinke is going to get one of the biggest pitching contracts ever.
  23. Parmelee is just a place holder in RF until one of Mauer/Morneau/Doumit ends up injured. OF Defense will certainly be ugly early in the season but in the 2nd half we could be looking at a Revere/Hicks/Arcia OF.
  24. I think this offseason is unique since there are indications (TOR and LAD trades) that revenues are going to explode in the next couple of seasons (new TV contracts). Agents/players are expecting teams to go nuts because of this extra money but I think most teams are trying not to spend money that they don't have yet.
  25. Imo this trade shows that the Braves decided that they weren't going to bring back Hanson and took the best offer. This is also likely the reason that they signed Upton vs trading Minor/Delgado for Span.
