While I think the Rangers would have had a much greater shot at knocking out the Yankees, I have more faith in Jim Johnson shutting them down in the ninth than I would with Nathan.

Rangers fans seem ready to turn on him for his lackadaisical play as of late. He's getting booed after ground outs now.

Drops a routine fly ball to allow Oakland to take the lead!

Also no one really pays attention the the pitching triple crown which has been won quite a few times in recent memory.

And he's done after one inning. He was throwing 95 and looked quite good.
  6. notoriousgod71
They expect him to go about 2 innings. What might have been with this guy...

The depressing thing is that Ryan supposedly had a successful offseason and yet we still lost close to 100 games.

I would still have to say this season was a disappointment for him. He's going to be posting AROD (current) numbers before his contract is half over.

Oh man... the key matchup will be Jose Rijo vs Dave Stewart. I have a feeling Billy Hatcher will play a key role! I would normally root for the Nats as I don't dislike any of their players but I would like them to lose every game that Strasburg would have been slated to start. AL meh... now that the Rays are eliminated I guess the Orioles or A's. My dream is for the Yankees and Rangers to play the play-in game. I think that would be funny.

    Trout 4-4.

No wild cards=more exciting pennant races!

This lineup doesn't deserve more than a random flip of the remote. Baltimore-TB is on!
  14. notoriousgod71
Do SABR guys get excited about the OPS+ race?
  15. notoriousgod71
Hendricks has been brutal save for two starts this season. Even in this putrid rotation he is not one of the top five pitchers at this point.

The Baltimore-NYY and Oakland-Texas races would be really interesting if they weren't all going to the playoffs anyway.

Penciling Plouffe and Florimon as the left side of our infield is a big mistake in my opinion. One can't hit right handed pitching and one can't hit at all.

September baseball at it's worst when you have two non-contending teams.

While completely inconsistent, I will at least have good memories of Casilla. He has come up with two of the bigger hits in Twins history and despite all his other flaws those were two exciting times. There's not too many players left that I can remember getting big hits in big games.

Also how about Showalter giving the rookie a green light on 3-0?
  23. notoriousgod71
Yeah that was a good game. Let's not forget that Sam Fuld would have been out in LF if not for the aforementioned switch. The move helped in the short term but in the end it bit them in the ass.

Instead of a highly anticipated Verlander-Sale matchup last night, we instead are treated to Sale-Esmerling Vazquez and Verlander-somebody Kluber.
