  1. This is why I always advocated signing Santana and Hunter for whatever they were asking for. The way salaries skyrocket a lot of deals will end up looking like steals just because of how awful all the new contracts are.
  2. At this rate Kevin Correia will be too expensive for the Twins. SIGN ME UP!
  3. God dammit, I was just about to post the same thing.
  4. Neither of those SS are worth Span... and I am all for trading him.
  5. Kelly Johnson is far more likely than Josh Johnson.
  6. The Tigers continue to add pieces to help their team each offseason and each trade deadline. Cabrera, Scherzer, Fielder, Sanchez, Fister, Martinez, Hunter, Jackson, Benoit, Dotel. Who says you have to develop players to build a winner? To think all they had to give up for these guys was cash, Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin, Casper Wells, and Granderson. When the Tigers were near record setting ****ty they went out and signed guys like Ordonez and Pudge to send a message that they weren't satisfied with being terrible. Those two ended up being key pieces when the Tigers turned it around and they've just added to it.
  7. If the Marlins win 50 games he should be Manager of the Year.
  8. Dozier, Deduno, Hendricks > Reyes, Johnson, Buehrle
  9. The disappointing part of this is that I now can't even imagine what FA we are going to sign. Blanton and Correia may be wishful thinking at this point. It'll be Chad Gaudin and Mike Morgan.
  10. Guerra for Santana would be sweetly ironic.
  11. Or they can develop prospects and trade for more prospects and make us wait a few years before they become competitive. The Twins are pretty good at that.
  12. Not that I care if we sign Sanchez or not but eventually they're going to have to just realize that in order to get good pitchers you're going to have to pay high salaries. We have seen what a mess this team is when they go cheap on the rotation.
  13. God, no. Get a real pitcher not an over the hill chump.
  14. I do not want Guthrie, Saunders, or Blanton, but I am sure we'll sign 2 of the 3.
  15. 1. Rod Carew 2. Harmon Killebrew 3. Tony Oliva 4. Kirby Puckett 5. Chuck Knoblauch 6. Joe Mauer 7. Justin Morneau 8. Shane Mack 9. Torii Hunter 10. Bob Allison
  16. I think most people over value prospects far too much.
  17. If you're not going to trade Span for Shields what would you trade him for? You can't win without pitching. This team could realistically contend with the addition of three starting pitchers. All it costs is money and the want to. Span is replaceable. We're not discussing Willie Mays here.
  18. One of my two favorite Twins of all-time. Congrats!
  19. Let me first say I am totally against trading for Buehrle. But, I think we are all forgetting how good he was for so long. The dude is a gamer. How many games did we pay to go to, that he turned into less than a 2 hour affair. I was so excited to finally get to Target field the first July it was open. I was also excited because Pavano and Buerle were pitching...two of the most efficient at that time. I had been drinking (at keys and then Huberts) for most of the day and was ready for a nice long game of beer drinking. All I remember was sitting down, realizing how beautiful Target Field was, and all of a sudden it was the 7th inning stretch. Both pitchers went the distance and it was, and I believe still is, the shortest game in Target Field history. The Twins won, but I lost. My stats for the game were two 8 dollar beers. I had brought plenty of cash to have 10 but the time just went to fast. What were we talking about again... O ya Buerle pitches super fast and I think could still be a great pitcher in the American League. I also was at the game at the MetroDome where he had a hitless streak of like 15 innings going. Then, of all people, Alexi "biggest dip-lip" Cassilla came up and sliced a base hit. I want to say he also scored and we ended up knocking him out that game. This guy needs to be a Twin, if the Marlins eat a huge chunk of that salary and we get him for a C prospect, I am in... Did I just talk myself into a deal for Mark Buerle and his massive contract...YUP!! Changed my mind. If Buehrle can make Twins games less than two hours I'm all for it.
  20. Please, no. He's a left handed Carl Pavano.
