  1. When you are only resigning your own guys it lacks the impact of making an addition. At best, we are merely treading water. If we didn't resign those two we would have ONE starting pitcher on this roster.
  2. Nothing about this pitching staff is credible to any sustainable success.
  3. I'm perpetually in Anger stage, including during the season. I recognize this is a very sad and tragic way to go through life so maybe I'm in the depression or acceptance stage after all.
  4. If our offer to Bumgarner is less than what we offered Wheeler we won't get him either.
  5. My co-worker despises Wisler for some reason (he also had an irrational hatred for Dyson long before we ever picked him up) so I will cheer for Wisler more than anyone since Tim Stauffer.
  6. Quit trying to find a diamond in the rough and sign the best guy out there.
  7. Hopefully there's something to this and we can get back to playing baseball next year. The postseason (aside from the Twins) has been filled with really good BASEBALL so far and it's fun to watch.
  8. Here are some notable Game 2 and 3 starters the Twins have run out in postseason games: Mays, Silva, Bonser, Duensing (Game 1!!!!), and Dobnak. That simply isn't going to get it done.
  9. So the Yankees beat the Twins at a .667 winning percentage, way lower than their normal rate.
  10. Blanco is key. He had more career postseason home runs than Mauer and was the starting catcher the last time we won a postseason game.
  11. And Roberto Hernandez (who I thought was the White Sox closer, but it turns out to actually be Fausto Carmona).
  12. His player comps according to baseball ref are Tony Armas, Jerome Williams, Matt Moore, and Scott Kamieniecki.
  13. Rosario is due for another six days of workload management rest this year. Does that count?
  14. Even when they are pitching lights out, the starters are not allowed to pitch into the seventh on most occasions. We had the stretch about a month ago where Gibson, Berrios, and Pineda all dominated with pitch counts in the low 80s and left after six or seven innings. But, dammit, we needed to get Matt Magill some extra work before we released him.
  15. I would love to see some data on what percent of players go from being injury prone youngsters to ever playing more than a fluke full season.
  16. I was pleasantly surprised Bremer called him out for the exact same thing.
  17. I honestly question whether this staff can hold New York or Houston to single digit runs in a postseason game.
  18. The HBP was also on a 3-0 count, which would have made six of his last seven pitches out of the strike zone. What makes anyone think this was done on purpose?
  19. What were the solid deadline deals Ryan made? Stewart- anyone else? Getting Pavano, Cabrera, Rauch, Fuentes, even Capps was Bill Smith. Ryan would more likely ship off major league players like Lawton and Redman and not improve the team at all.
  20. Here's a funny story. I used to tape a lot of games on this thing called a VCR and I watched a bunch of them about ten years ago before my VCR died a tragic death. One of the games was from June or July of 2001 against Detroit and Dick says, "The Tigers will likely try to move Todd Jones at the trade deadline but looking at his numbers I'm not sure they'll find any takers."
