  1. This aged well but it took a bit longer (just over one day) than I expected.
  2. The team that lets their top pitchers pitch the most games will have an advantage. A throw away game with Smeltzer or someone to try and steal an extra day of rest for a starting pitcher could be a killer.
  3. Good bloodlines. Son of Twins legend Lou Collins and Twins wunderkind Billy Heywood's mom.
  4. I just looked up Matt Adams on baseball ref. His number one player comp is CJ Cron so the world makes sense once again.
  5. Here's a recap of the thread for those that don't want to read through it all. The self-righteous and outraged along with those that agree with them are thoughtful geniuses and our morale compass. If you do not FULLY agree with them without exception you are an uneducated and ignorant hillbilly and need to be educated on the right or wrong stance so you can fall into place. No one's closet is clean and I'm sure a lot of posters (including myself) have done things worse in their lives than not vocally condemning police violence.
  6. Jacque Jones hitting a solo home run for our only hit off Garcia to win the game actually had me believing we would come back and win the division.
  7. Rocco. I really would have liked to have seen Dick Stigman brought into the 5th inning with the game on the line.
  8. There should honestly be a book written about this team. I just don't think there's a market for TWO teams that didn't win the world series in 2002 to have a book written about them. I'd add the game that broke Oakland's 20 game winning streak as a pivotal game.
  9. 2001 had some of the most fun regular season games I've ever watched as a baseball fan. What sticks out to me is that the young Twins went toe to toe with the big, bad Yankees and took 2 out of 3 in each series with lockdown pitching, both out of the rotation and the bullpen. Even the fans showed they had good arms on one occasion! The other thing that sticks out is that instead of trading prospects for established players to fortify a roster, Terry Ryan kept creating one hole to fill another. I've heard the rumors that he thought he had Shannon Stewart to replace Lawton. Obviously he didn't and we missed Lawton much more than we gained by acquiring Reed. And trading a young and promising starter like Redman for a closer is unexplainable. Fun fact about Todd Jones. I have a number of 2001 games on VHS and when I watched them maybe around 2010 or so, the Twins were playing the Tigers and Dick was talking about the Tigers trying to unload veterans at the trade deadline and mused that Detroit would be hard-pressed to find someone who would take Jones off their hands. In retrospect, I remember that comment because I always like to point out the ridiculous things Dick says during the telecast and this was obviously a terrible trade.
  10. Isn't this what MLBN already does when they are not televising live games? They pretty much jump from game to game during the key moments.
  11. I won't boo this man, but I will BOO YAH this man. F off, Koch!
  12. Yes, now I'm going to go play Tecmo Super Bowl while my mother makes me pizza rolls.
  13. My biggest fear is that Manfred will decide he likes some of these changes and they will end up permanent. I do not want realignment. I do not want expanded playoffs. I don't even want interleague play, multiple divisions, or the last two rounds of expansion. Basically, I just want everything to go back to how it was when I was 10.
  14. We can only hope that Bailey is another Martin Perez. I have nothing but disgust for both signings but Perez managed to put together several quality outings before the inevitable happened. I will be very surprised if Bailey even gives us five or six quality starts (such a low bar) this season.
  15. Slightly more turns out to be cash in true Twins fashion.
  16. Maeda helps win the division but doesn't help us beat the Yankees or Astros or any other good team in the postseason.
  17. I'm glad these posts are time stamped so I can continue my research on how alcohol affects mindsets.
  18. 12.5 million for 75 innings? That is more per inning than Gerrit Cole.
  19. I don't understand why anyone would ever underestimate the demand for starting pitching. It isn't a new phenomenon to need starting pitchers.
  20. Big Sexy's first start as a Twin turned out (predictably) awful but the energy in the crowd that night for the first four innings or so was the best I've witnessed at Target Field. One of the sportswriters (Souhan, perhaps) described it as a "carnival-like atmosphere" and that seems fairly fitting.
  21. Hey, they didn't trade Kepler (yet)! They just signed an impactful right fielder!
