  1. Good thing we got rid of the Steer guy.
  2. Quite the yacker Simeon is featuring tonight.
  3. Nope, full bore or nothing. No time for otherwise. Just having him and Buck back in the lineup shifts guys to much better roles where they can excel. Its a really solid lineup when a Jeffers or a Lee hits in the 9 hole. Also, sign me up for whatever this very painful treatment is. My golden retriever has a lot of energy and I've got walking to do.
  4. People were fired over this deal, I believe anyway. And I still don't think it was a bad deal.
  5. Good thing we can still trade for AL guys at least. Like Jorge Lopez.
  6. Well sure, hindsight is fun. We have a new trainer largely because of this. And really, as we see Mahle do the same thing again with the Rangers, sometimes players aren't great evaluators of their injuries. It's not a great deal but living in the past is a good way to stay there.
  7. Get used to it. Have to give to get and if one player that leaves turning out to be good should be expected. They are a good place to shop because they have lots of good players. That's a good thing. Worrying about them getting a base hit against you is a loser mindset.
  8. Speaking of which, why is our hottest hitter not in the lineup?
  9. On the other side he's very aware on the radio. He said he owes 6 and as the rally continues he said he's got a face for radio. Pretty good stuff.
  10. No receipt needed. Take that ******** take to the Goodwill store.
  11. I mean, it would be news if he was out there barefoot. I, for one, expected shoes.
  12. No time. They have the rookies sandwiching Pablo for maximum bullpen availability. It's two rotation turns remaining and it's all setup as well as possible.
  13. I'm reliably informed that optimism is verboten here.
  14. The swift and final decision kinda tells me it's not a woe is my mental health thing. I'd like to believe if there was a drug/alcohol/mental health thing he would be quietly in rehab. I think we can all agree that the Twins organization has shown they are going to lean to the side of extra chances and support. I've fired quite a lot of people over the years. I can count on one hand how many were cut and dried one week done. Every chance we have, we try to get someone to straighten up. Frankly, it's cheaper to fix employees that find new ones. He'd have a very small chance get a job with me. I do believe in second chances and I know I don't have all the details, but I think I have the most important detail. The Minnesota Twins do not make these decisions lightly.
  15. That was coaching, sir. Coaching matters!!!! Just as a thought exercise, say Vazquez went to hi-A for a longer rehab. Charlee Soto thinks he's a hot shot (making this up, mind you) as the first round flamethrower. Thinks he knows better than Vazquez about everything and will not listen. How does Vazquez grab his attention in an era where shoving folks in lockers is frowned upon? You need me as much as I need you, kid. I would be willing to bet something like this has happened has happened before, but with a vet/prospect dynamic. It that instance, the Vazquez would certainly tell the manager what happened and why he did it, maybe before he did it. The manager might even ask him to do it. This ain't that, though. It's why he got ratted out by the other team. Someone asked about the umpires and while we haven't heard yet I'll bet they were involved. In pro ball they probably wouldn't do anything during the game but the plate ump probably signed the final nail in the coffin when he talked to Falvey. I've had countless non-baseball behavior events I've corrected on the field and then explain what happened to a confused coach. Many kids benched after the explanations.
  16. Crazy stuff, and good on the Twins for quickly taking care of an issue, but lets not get carried away with wildest ever. If this is the wildest story Kiley McDaniels (video clip in ESPN story) has ever seen in baseball, he needs to look around. In a year where a player signed a $700m contract and his interpreter stole millions to bet on god knows what-this is the wildest thing ever. Right. I hate hyperbole. Truth is, stuff like this happens quite a lot in the real world. I've seen quite a few people get pretty high positions and suddenly be gone, having a harmless or not so harmless lie told on the way get exposed. Once the trust is gone, its gone. He will have a hell of time even getting a regular job for a few years. It's a tough road back. I'm less interested in his side of the story, I trust the Twins got it and this is the result. What I want to know is how much other stuff was he doing that this seemed like a thing to do even as a fairly young person. Playing sports all his life to get to this point, this never crosses your mind or you've been riding free and loose for a long time. Kids make mistakes and all that, but cheating your own team in your first few months after finally becoming a pro? That's nuts. Probably not the craziest story of even the month, but still nuts. The stories of his past that will come out in the next few weeks should tell an interesting tale.
  17. He won’t steal much because they don’t steal many bases as an organization. 1st to 3rd and 1st to home are more important. He probably doesn’t blow a tire rounding third. Buxton will get DH days and an off day or two down the stretch. They can live with Kiersey in the 9 hole with plus defense over Martin/Margot bat and poor defense. They are going to use an excellent single skill over a better average player in the tight games.
  18. My guess is Kiersey is here for the rest of the regular season. His skill set fits better than Martin or Helman by far. He will be a pinch runner and defensive sub pretty regularly. There will be several instances of him running for Larnach and staying in for defense but also Margot might get the at bat then Kiersey comes in for defense. Maybe to run for Margot too. Late innings outfield of Kiersey, Buck and Wallner would be pretty solid. Having a true centerfielder for Buck to DH occasionally will be nice too. Not to get ahead of ourselves, he probably fits the postseason roster pretty nicely too. Terrance Gore/Jerrod Dyson role.
  19. He's probably too light in arm strength for anything but 2nd. Will have to build it up slowly.
  20. How do we not have a better camera angle for this?
  21. I'm sure someone will yell at Rocco about it. But a double play makes it all better. Get this guy with under 10 pitches and let him roll.
  22. This is how he manages in must win games.
