How about the Rays move to Miami and get the new stadium, and the Marlins relocate. I think there's better baseball markets for either team, but the new ballpark in Miami isn't going away. Give them the better team and let another city with real owners run the Marlins.
That's because they aren't close. Mussina is however arguably the better pitcher than Tom Glavine. Glavine: ERA+ 118 Mussina: ERA+ 123 Glavine: WAR 69.3 Mussina: WAR 78.1
For an ******* like Murray Chass the answer is yes. Looking at the two guys most associated with 'probably used' are Bagwell and Piazza. Jeff Bagwell for a third year improved his numbers. It wouldn't surprise me if there's going to be more no votes based on career longevity and not hitting any milestone numbers than steroid suspicions. Mike Piazza first time on ballot earned 57%. Too low a number, but not end of the world like some seem to think. Both imo are going to be voted in by the writer within the next five to six years, if not sooner.
One thing to keep in mind is when Mauer becomes eligible there's going to be more voters who don't just look a at the baseball card numbers. They are going to look at WAR and on-base to fully judge a players worth.
First choice for me would be Al Worthington. A deserving candidate and he's getting up their in age. He'll be 84 at the time of the ceremony and it would be nice if he got enjoy the honor.
Francisco Liriano returns after a five week stay on the DL against Oakland. Second inning he leaves and the Twins lose their co-Ace. Throw in Radke pitching on guts and 2006 might be the biggest what if team in Twins history.
The prospect with high expectations who had a horrible season. Nothing went right for Benson last year. Might something similar happen to Arcia, or Hicks? Perhaps one of the Rookie league players has difficulty adjusting to a full season.
Overreact much. It's a one year format to avoid a second travel day in the LDS. They go back to the 2-2-1 format next season. Also the format doesn't seem to be hurting the Reds and the Nats have already put themselves in a great position to win their series.
I do wonder if the front office wouldn't mind Gardy stepping down. Today proved that his opinion really didn't matter anymore and there's a strong chance that possibly three members of the coaching staff could step in and replace him.
Let's see if anything changes with Brunasky likely becoming the new pitching coach. I'm curious since Posey won the NL batting title does it lessen what Mauer did? He did it three times, but just general accomplishment of something that hadn't been done in over 60 years is duplicated by another player 2 years later.
I don't understand why people are getting so worked up over who wins the MVP? The people who argue for Cabrera on the site you linked are getting negative points. I appreciate the new statistics but the attitude of some people isn't any better than the old school people who scoff at anything not included in the box-score.
