    Your observation of the Twins vs Atlanta Tampa Bay and the Orioles and being 13 games over .500 vs everyone else is semi flawed in the sense that just since the all-star break they've been swept by K.C. lost 3 of 4 to Detroit and 2 of 3 vs St. Louis. The competition will be stiffer come playoffs. For whatever reason they have fared better against competition where you'd think they might struggle. Like vs D Backs or Phillies. Go figure

    Keuchel was brought up for what purpose? To get a start here and there to give some relief to the starters. If that's the case, what's the worry? If the plan is to make him part of the rotation, then perhaps there's cause for concern. Mentoning the hard hit balls against him. They weren't getting launched like it was Cape Canaveral ala Ryan's last few starts.

    Facing a tough lefty and no need for him possibly do more damage. It was a good decision to give him a day off.

    Give him the old pep talk angle. And his defense has won a handful of games at least. He's earned that chance. And he can still hit the high cheese

    Not quite Stanton yet. Did you see Stanton get thrown out at the plate yesterday? If not, look it up. You'll see. Utterly ridiculous. No effort is bad, not caring is worse.

    I agree. I just don't think they'll give him AB in the DH spot upon Buxtons return. He's dhing today. So that's a start.

    I said in a earlier post that his numbers would come down. Saying that, Would they not be better than what Vasquez has been doing? I'm really hoping that instead of alternating every other day it's more like 2 on 1 off. Then he'd have 5 games 1 week 4 games the next. As well as team days off. I don't think that would overwork him. Idk. Maybe it would. The team is looking for more consistent offensive punch.

    I feel fortunate to have lived in the midwest. On most nights I could pick up games from St. Louis who had both Jack Buck and Harry Caray. Detroit had a 50,000 watt station. They told you that every 5 minutes that featured Ernie Harwell and George Kell. Pirate games came in too. They had Bob Prince. I tried to catch every Clemente at bat. The other team that came through was Cleveland. If Tiant or Sam McDowell were pitching Bob Neal would describe Tiants quirky motion and McDowells fastball could knock down walls. Typical game by him would be 4 or 5 hits with 4 or 5 walks and double digit strikeouts that would result in a 2-1 loss. Or so it seemed. I know the Cubs played during the day but I don't remember getting Cubs or White Sox games. I didn't like them anyhow. Since we only got 1 game a week on TV. Which was awesome. But radio was king. TV was black and white and fuzzier than you could imagine if you never saw it.

    I think it's safe to say that Maeda has proved a lot of doubters wrong. His velocity was down and age isn't on his side. He has pitched way better than I expected. Commendable. Yet there is still an elephant lurking. Actually 2. Can the Twins keep running Gallo out there every night? He's right at 50% K rate. I saw a stat that his hard hit rate was 55% which ranked high. But what good is that when he doesn't make contact on 50% of his AB. And number 2 is Buxton. He will be inserted right back at DH upon his return. I know. 7 hits in his last 5 games. Idk. Maybe he can get it together with his stint on the IL. But if not. How can they move forward with 2 holes in the lineup. And a struggling Correa. And Jeffers needs to start more than every other day as well. Like 5 out of 7. Great win on Joe Mauer night.

    Been watching MLB trade deadline for the past couple days between mowing 11 acres and bush and tree work and have noticed a few things. Not 1 mention of the Twins at all. And that the good teams and some marginal teams have all made moves to try and get better. The Twins? Nothing. Is it arrogance or incompetence? I mean what gives? Prime example being Toronto. Bichette goes down yesterday and they trade for an immediate replacement in DeJong. They aren't giving up.

    Yankees are listening simply because that lineup is not that good. Kepler going for Bader. New York fans and press would eat him alive. I'm not big on Kepler but I wouldn't wish that on anyone

    Cannot is absolutely correct. Will not is questionable. I believe come 6:00 PM EST. Falvey will tell everyone that all is well. No need to panic. Reinforcements are on the way.

    I honestly think the Twins are going to stand pat. Cleveland deals Civale. Bieber on IL. Chicago dealt a lot. I think the Twins FO thinks this team will win the division by default. The only move I see them making is DFA Gallo upon Lewis return. I'd be surprised if they bring in anyone for help this year. Clock us ticking.

    I love Julien at the plate. You can still plug him in on defense knowing what you're going to get. One can live with that. But if he's costing outs on the bases too. That's another matter. And last night wasn't the first time. I'm sure the coaches have his ear.

    Just wanted to comment on bad baserunning vs aggressive baserunning. In Juliens case it was a terrible decision. That was a hard hit ball, 1 hopper to the rightfielder. Even if there was a bad throw, he's out. And that was after he got caught snoozing at 1st. Neither play was close. Hopefully he'll be more attentive. Fortunately it didn't t affect the outcome.

    Only nit picking but he had 1 shaky start that could have been too much to recover from. Fortunately he only gave up 3 runs after hitters went 7-9 in the Seattle start. But was helped by some ? baserunning. But he did shut them down after that. I said at the all-star break when they sent possibly their 3&4 starters to that game. But yes Ober has done very well. I'm sure they're watching his innings but there's been no mention of a possible shutdown yet. I hope it doesn't come to that.

    Larnach has been recalled. So now they have Wallner and him up. Don't know who he replaces on the roster. I guess we'll find out soon. More pink eye casualties perhaps. Didn't see anyone injured yesterday???
