  1. I know he isn't the flame thrower he once was and sits more like 91 to 92 on fastball. Can they still make something work out of his slider or change up? Maybe he is just a name at this point. I know when the Twins tried to trade for him from the Mets the Mets were asking for Royce Lewis or that level of player in a trade. We obviously have 3 players in Gallo, Lupelow, and Floro that could be dumped. It's weird seeing a player you once tried to trade for fall on hard times and get DFA. I think someone will sign him that is on the playoff fringe and try to get something out of him.
  2. Since no claims, looks like Clevinger stays with the White Sox.
  3. No, but I sure would like to see the Twins actually win a World Series again before I die. I took it for granted in 1991 that there would be more of these playoff runs. 2002 seems like a long time ago and was the last legitimate chance we had recently, except the teams with Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau before they got hurt. I like making the playoffs, but it would be nice if Ownership and Front office for one or two dang times would actually give the Twins a real shot.
  4. Sure would like to get one of either Matt Moore or Reynaldo Lopez.
  5. Just to be clear, if a player is claimed prior to September 1st are they eligible for a playoff roster spot?
  6. Mis-read the article. Waivers are no longer revocable. Since it is mutual option you will end up paying 5.42 million unless you can negotiate extension. I think Clevinger is a good pitcher and our rotation is starting to show some cracks. I would like him in our rotation but as Nick said just about everyone will pass. Clevinger you would be renting for a playoff run. What are his stats against Rangers, Mariners, and Astros this year, would be key.
  7. Steep salary, and 3.32 ERA on crappy White Sox. Falvey must know details from his Cleveland days on drafting Clevinger. Probably not going to win a claim. 4 Million buyout. With Gray and Maeda being free agents, I would put in a claim. Know that these are revocable waivers. This is one I would gamble and at least put a claim on him. Move Maeda or Kuechal to the pen. 60 day DL for someone or cut Gallo or Lupelo.
  8. I agree with Jorgan West we should claim Giolito. The Twins tried to trade for him when he was with Nationals.
  9. Can we see Willie Castro brought up for this series. Put Gallo on the IL with a strained Gluteous Maximus, or strained noodle. Would be nice to have Castro back with Taylor appearing to still favor hamstring.
  10. At this point why not bring up Funderburk from the Saints and give him a shot. This Floro guy they got from Marlins isn't worth keeping. How many times do you have to see the Floro movie repeat itself.
  11. Should give Gallo's spot to Austin Martin or Celestino. Just bored with his approach at the plate. Gallo has almost become a cinch out in the batting order.
  12. I think Griffen Jax has proven he cannot pitch the 9th inning.
  13. Thad Lavine is attached to Joey Gallo because he drafted him. He doesn't want to admit it was a bad signing and that Gallo was a poor fit for the Twins lineup. Frankly Twins fans are sick of his strike outs and lack of contact because outside of power threat he doesn't really bring anything to the table. The Twins will not eat the 11 million they spent on Gallo so we all know we are stuck with this albatross, black hole of strike outs on the roster. Rocco keeps putting him in the lineup so Gallo is here to stay whether we like it or not. Because the whole line-up has struggled, someone usually takes the brunt of the heat, seems like Gallo is our guy for that.
  14. Any updates on Donny Barrels? The Donovan Solano injury from last night, radio broadcast they were saying sprained knee? That would sound like DL or IL stint from the description. That's the Sh!t's for sure if true, cause then he who should not be named will have to play.
  15. In the long run I think so. I think with Lopez we will see someone who will continue to pitch well for the Twins at the top of the rotation. It was a good fit for both teams, as much as I like Arreaz we really needed an innings eater and top of the rotation guy.
  16. Winning a playoff game would be enough for me to break the record loss streak. Winning a series would be nice and icing on the cake for this season.
  17. 6 for 56 goes beyond just a slump. We already knew Gallo was not a solid contact guy but the strikeouts keep mounting. Is it possible the coaches are playing him Gallo to show the front office Falvey and Lavine, hey this version of Joey Gallo is what we will see moving forward? He plays OK defense but Gallo is about as close to an automatic out as we have seen in a long time as a Twin and we have had doosey's. I mean there is still time for him to redeem himself but time will be running short soon? I mean Kirloff being hurt and the 40 man has probably led to this circumstance too. Still a tough one to figure out.
  18. Wouldn't it make more sense to DFA Sands and keep Kuechel add him to 40 man for this season and ads him to bullpen or 6 man rotation or as opener?
  19. I don't think standing pat was prudent. The bullpen has had a lot of recent use. Even with getting Caleb Thielbar back the Twins bullpen seems short a reliable left handed arm. Moran has some decent stuff but his use has exposed weaknesses that teams seem to pick up on his pitching pattern due to relative lack of experience. The one area I was really hopeful for was an additional lefthander like the lefthander the Brewers received from the Diamondbacks. My two cents.
  20. Looking forward to Dick Bremer's puffery and propeganda, bragging about how Twins can win with the addition of injured guy's on tonights broadcast. Only impactful guy still hurt is Royce Lewis. Bremer will pat Twins on back for having courage to stand pat. Heard it countless times........ Gallo still here. That is D- in itself.
  21. Gallo would be addition by subtraction if they could include him any deals or just DFA him. Removing so many strikeouts per game and because of the lack of consistent contact would be beneficial to the whole batting order to move on from Gallo.
  22. We need to find a way to sign Buxton, you just cannot give up on that much potential. I know the injury history but Buxton is a real difference maker in the field and at the plate when he plays. He is just too talented to give up on or give away. I might be in the minority opinion on this but I think you have to find common ground and continue to pursue a deal with Buxton. I don't think there is any added pressure to trade him this deadline. We have the offseason and next season to work on this and I don't think the Twins should give up on an extension.
  23. This is baseball and things like this happen. I don't blame the players for getting after each other a little bit. I would be more concerned if we didn't have interactions like this on the Twins because that would mean the players just don't give a rip or S about this game or any other game at this point in the season. It's no big deal really and I have no problem with how either player handled this type of situation. Like I said I would be more concerned if people especially the players, just didn't care.
  24. Remember when the joke was throwing in the Brian Duensing for Mark Derosa trades back in the day. Well that makes about as much sense what Derosa proposes as those wishful deals did. No I would not do this deal and I don't see the Brewers doing it either. Would I try and conjur up something with the Giants who just lost Longoria for some considerable time, maybe on the Donaldson front I would rather get some pitching back from the Giants than do anything with the Brewers.
