  1. I know Baldelli is the manager but things seem really out of whack right now and it is more than the injury bug. This is more than a strike out issue or bad luck. The Twins hitting approach seems really flawed at least it appears so. Being last in all of baseball is more than poor. Team batting average of .195, before today, OBP .284, slugging .336 .For those totals we could have Joe Vavraa walk in the door and possibly do better coming in off his couch. Twins baseball has become unwatchable and it is the poor hitting approach(strategy) and execution as much as pitching. This isn't just this year either, this is carryover from last season. There really is a large enough sample size that there appears there is change needed. April is early but there are alarming things and trends happening daily. If the manager will not do it, make a change, then front office appears to need to do something. Are the Twins really this talent poor?
  2. Still think Varland is mote valuable as short inning reliever than 5th starter. His stuff suggest one inning guy for being effective.
  3. Cueto can still go a little, if they could sign him to Milb deal that would be good.
  4. Probably a little panic to the pitching injury news. Thought Clevinger might help is. Varland would be a really good 7th or 8th inning guy. Not sue he has stamina to be a long term starter for Twins
  5. Would be nice to have another experienced arm in the rotation. Would allow them to work Varland out of the bullpen. Clevinger gives you innings and can pitch. Seems willing to accept one year deal now.
  6. Any chance Twins would try to get multiple year deals done with Thielbar, Farmer, Alcala and Gordon rather than go to arbitration.
  7. I would like to see Michael A Taylor back with the Twins. His defense was a welcome addition this season and saved us from having a merry go round in Center Field, and Jake Cave.
  8. I doubt the Twins want to go to one provider like Bally's again and have all eggs in one basket. Any chance Twins would try to put together a Midwest Sports or Victory together with other Sports teams in a regional Sports Network. Is there any chance with the collapse of Bally's Sports North and the end of the TV contract that the Twins would start up an LLC and see if they could build a regional Sports programing network to the upper Midwest. Try to develop parthnerships with the Wild, Wolves, MN FC the Loons, University of Minnesota, St Thomas, St Cloud State, Minnesota State-Mankato, UMD, Saint Paul Saints, maybe Horse racing through the local race tracks. Professional wrestling. The problem with Victory was cost and lack of programing. I know this is easier talking about it then actually doing something like this. To me the only way this works is if you build an upper Midwest Content sports developer that has multiple media rights, then negotiate a distribution rights deal to air with multiple platforms like Peacock, MAX, Apple, CBS Sports Network, Your probably going to have to offer tiered content where you have basic plans, that only get you so many games, and then a tier that gets you all of the games at a higher cost in order to make this work. Maybe offer smaller plans to the over the air networks for limited games. To me it makes sense, you want all the games you pay more, you only want weekend games you pay a little less, you want more viewing options you pay for a higher tier.
  9. I too am hoping for Farmer at 3B, Castro in Left, Taylor in Center. I would add I want to see Vasquez behind the plate calling this game. Lewis back to DH and Julien at 1B.
  10. It's awesome that the AJ Pierzynski trade in 2003 still paid off dividends in 2018 with adding Johan Duran. I had forgotten the Eduardo Escobar trade in 2018 did that. That is a cool tidbit and bit of history for 2023.
  11. Jax has like 10 losses but how many more losses has he had a dire t hand 8n. Seems like at least 20 games this season where he let inherited runners score or got himself in trouble by walking or hitting a guy. Jax is turning into th8s teams version of Brian Duensing another overused reliever.
  12. You can pitch Jax in 6th or 7th, he doesn't handle the 9th inning well. Get's too wired.
  13. After watching Jax on Sunday and Floro Monday night they need two other guys. Both are erratic and walk and hit guy's too frequently. It would have been nice to have another high leverage arm besides Thielbar and Duran. We still don't have an 8th inning set up guy. Varland or Ober or Paddack they need to try and get someone else ready with time left.
  14. If it is determined Buxtoon can't heal up enough to play he may end up on the 60 day IL to add someone back. Maybe best to let him rest it. He is going to need one of those off-season plans that helps heal up his patellar and knee issues.
  15. I called for a mysterious ailment or injury for Joey Gallo when Castro was nearing the end of his rehabilitation. A strained gluteos maximus or brain cramp contusion after he was picked off as a pinch runner. They will keep him around, but if others are healthy the playoff roster will be full without him. They will not DFA him, if not prior to 08/31 he will not be cut.
  16. I don't see them dumping Gallo now, but he should not make the playoff roster. There really isn't really a good fit as a PH or defensive replacement that should compel the Twins to add him to the first round playoff roster for sure.
  17. Just wish the Twins could have won the claims on Matt Moore or Reynaldo Lopez. Think those two would have helped the Twins
  18. I know he isn't the flame thrower he once was and sits more like 91 to 92 on fastball. Can they still make something work out of his slider or change up? Maybe he is just a name at this point. I know when the Twins tried to trade for him from the Mets the Mets were asking for Royce Lewis or that level of player in a trade. We obviously have 3 players in Gallo, Lupelow, and Floro that could be dumped. It's weird seeing a player you once tried to trade for fall on hard times and get DFA. I think someone will sign him that is on the playoff fringe and try to get something out of him.
  19. Since no claims, looks like Clevinger stays with the White Sox.
  20. No, but I sure would like to see the Twins actually win a World Series again before I die. I took it for granted in 1991 that there would be more of these playoff runs. 2002 seems like a long time ago and was the last legitimate chance we had recently, except the teams with Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau before they got hurt. I like making the playoffs, but it would be nice if Ownership and Front office for one or two dang times would actually give the Twins a real shot.
  21. Sure would like to get one of either Matt Moore or Reynaldo Lopez.
  22. Just to be clear, if a player is claimed prior to September 1st are they eligible for a playoff roster spot?
  23. Mis-read the article. Waivers are no longer revocable. Since it is mutual option you will end up paying 5.42 million unless you can negotiate extension. I think Clevinger is a good pitcher and our rotation is starting to show some cracks. I would like him in our rotation but as Nick said just about everyone will pass. Clevinger you would be renting for a playoff run. What are his stats against Rangers, Mariners, and Astros this year, would be key.
  24. Steep salary, and 3.32 ERA on crappy White Sox. Falvey must know details from his Cleveland days on drafting Clevinger. Probably not going to win a claim. 4 Million buyout. With Gray and Maeda being free agents, I would put in a claim. Know that these are revocable waivers. This is one I would gamble and at least put a claim on him. Move Maeda or Kuechal to the pen. 60 day DL for someone or cut Gallo or Lupelo.
  25. I agree with Jorgan West we should claim Giolito. The Twins tried to trade for him when he was with Nationals.
