  1. Yeah that video is garbage. The fact our president had it made... even more garbage. The hypocrisy on this topic is overwhelming for me. Obama said he would have talks with everyone. Kim would have lept at the chance. Conservatives blasted Obama for even mentioning having peace talks. Now, Trump meets Kim for 20 minutes and it is the greatest feat in foreign policy ever. I'm glad they're talking. I'm glad we are easing tensions on the peninsula. I hope we put together a document that has meaning. Kim is getting everything he wanted at this point, without real concessions. As long as they stop testing missiles over Japan and Guam, I don't really view them as a threat. I'd be cautious about putting all my eggs in the North Korea basket if I was Trump. Although, he did say if it deteriorates (my word not his, not sure if he knows it), he would make up some excuse about it. Seriously. Make up an excuse. Mind. Blown.
  2. That has to be grounds for negligence right? I mean, if that can't be proved to be negligence I'm not sure what is. Don't go after the employee... go after the state. Win a lawsuit that makes states now responsible for who they sell guns to and how they sell them. That might be the only way to get any progress.
  3. Party over politics (country). Putin loves Trump. Not only is Trump ripping apart our democracy in the US, he is creating divisions across the world in the G7. Has anyone seen any polls about Russia? Has Trump's love for them influenced the American public? This foreign policy is a huge vulnerability.
  4. Is anyone really surprised the rest of the world is sick of Trump's shtick? I work for a German company, and it's embarrassing to discuss politics. I do have a good amount of colleagues in the US that are big trump supporters... The Germans probably roll their eyes at them like I do.
  5. I'm interested to see how this g6 I mean g7 summit goes. Trump feuding with Macron is a joke. He is destroying all our global relationships. I'm floored 40% of the public approves of the job he's doing. Side note for November. It is going to be tough for the democrats to win the Senate. There is a good chance they take the house, but the Senate map will be difficult. I actually think it will benefit them in 2020 to only have the house. Trump is very good at lying, and will have more ammo if the democrats have all of Congress.
  6. I'm really applauding the tariff responses from Mexico and others. Targeting Trump states to hopefully send a message. There is no question this will hurt the economies. They should also have put it in corn... That would have been a big wake up to the Midwest.
  7. From the sound of it, he really struggled. I hope Tanner Morgan is the real deal. Props to him for stepping up and playing well.
  8. Agree with you ash. This sets a terrible precedent, regardless of it wasn't the moral victory religious people crave. This can and will be used in courts around the country to discriminate based on religious views.... And it will take a long time until it is able to be heard by the court again.
  9. My favorite moment was before I watched any film of him...
  10. Don't get me started with that scumbag. Out of all the people in this administration, he is easily the worst. I could use a lot more adjectives to describe him, but won't.
  11. I don't really like the red, blue, and black combination. The tie by itself is ok. I'm not a huge fan of that style, but it isn't terrible. In combination with the outfit I give it a C+.
  12. I like the gray tie the best. That blue tie gets a b from be. Solid, but doesn't do anything particularly well. The gray tie with the suit looks really sharp. The gray gets an A-.
  13. Slightly under the influence in that post... Still, I refuse sit and listen/participate in the negative narrative against patents. We all do our best. Some are better than others, some actually read books about kids and development, others just wing it. In both cases, kids end up on both sides of the spectrum as adults.
  14. I provide minimal supervision to my kids when they're outside. We have swings and a climbing thing that the neighbor kids come and play on. Mostly, they stay here. Once the pool opens, my oldest (9, 7), are allowed to go on their own and be back by a certain time. The fallacy that everyone is a helicopter parent is maddening. To me, it is the older generations telling us how to parent and how to live. I think we break with how they grew up in accepting others and not bullying. This had led to being accused of raising snow flakes and being over sensitive. Thing is, I give a **** about negative opinions. You can't call my kid a snowflake, then call the cops when I'm not hovering over them. Can't have it both ways.
  15. I listened to faux news on xm today for a little while. There is a large segment of people that want to militarize our schools. Complete with lock down everything and soldiers. This is absolutely beyond insanity.
  16. Lenny Kravitz. Beck. Prince. Will Smith. Jay Z. Bette Midler. Diane Keaton.
  17. That's the thing isn't it. John Kasich doesn't get through the primary, yet would have beat Hillary Clinton or Trump in the general. I hope he challenges Trump in 2020, then runs a third party ticket. Bullies only get their way of nobody is willing to stand up to them and fight.
  18. Also, I'm more concerned with policy discussion here. As a country we follow a bell curve, so naturally, a bunch of people will agree on things. It is much more interesting to dissect specific ideas and have meaningful discussion. Generic party politic discussions generally don't lead to much. In the time discussing politics here, my views and understating of why I believe in them has broadened. My political identity has changed slightly, but I still identify mostly with John Kasich, but more socially liberal.
  19. I'd like to point out, that this assessment that our youth is being brainwashed is a bit dramatic. Many of the identity political views are influenced and discussed much more by parents. In school there is no doubt influence, but it is much more direct in the household. I, like many others were aligned with the Republican party under Bush. In the mid 2000s it began to shift as social media and these other platforms began giving a bigger voice to these "fringe" far right sectors in the party. That voice has only gotten louder and taken over more of the party. Now, there are millions.... let me repeat the millions part, that align themselves with that part of the Republican party. Only 63 million people voted Republican. The party has lost its integrity. No longer can those in it claim the high road when they will not stand up to lies and corruption. This has changed the demographic of who identifies with the party. More college educated and wealthy people are defecting, and it is picking up more uneducated white males. The party is also getting older. I'm curious what you consider liberal brainwashing. Is standing up for gay people brainwashing? Is saying the greed in health care in the open market has been a leading cause for high prices brainwashing? Is saying student loans that are crippling the millennial generation will have severe long term effects brainwashing? To me, brainwashing is twisting facts and advocating lies. Breitbart, Sean Hannity, Alex Jones, info wars, Tomi lahren, red state, the NRA... these are all propaganda brainwashing outlets. And I could have continued to list more. This is the "we are the little guy" narrative that isn't true.
  20. I don't understand the narrative that once government gets control of something it is buns to fail. The things government fails at are where they dabble in market controlled environments. Once they stay putting money into it the market reacts from the increased demand. Government is not the enemy. The army is an army of the government, and Republicans continue to pour money into it for no reason. I have no problem telling a kid they didn't qualify to go to college to be an engineer. If they have bad grades and bad test results, why should they get grants from tax payers only to fail out? A system of checks and balances can be worked it in that type of system. The problem, is the change is so dramatic, people won't be able to handle that much change. Start with the trade schools.
  21. I don't think all are that narcissistic. That stuff matters too. It matters a lot actually. It just can't be the only message. Democrats like Lamb have to use the message that rallies the district. Democrats like Khamala Harris have to use the message that rallies their district. The message doesn't have to be exactly the same everywhere, that's part of why democrats have been losing.
  22. I agree and disagree Levi. Lies should never be accepted from the president. We should never allow a criminal to be given a free pass because he's powerful. On the other hand, you need to win elections. Call out the con that matters to supporters. The know he is a womanizer, they know he lies, they know he is who he is. Focus the attack on the bridge that he built to reach these people. The wall, the swamp, the 1%, the tax bill, the tariffs, China, etc. Chip at the promises and absolute failure policies.
  23. She wasn't exactly a shining star for conservative women to look up to.... She was commonly referred to as a bigot, racist, and elitist. She wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't put her on a pedestal.
  24. A 16% swing seems dramatic to me. Especially considering a ton of the votes were sent in early. These were 2 normal nominees as well. A 16% swing nationally would be a slaughter by democrats. It's right to be cautious, but nothing in this race should provide confidence republicans will hold the house.
  25. Waffle house killer had his guns taken away twice. His father returned them to him, or the dude stole them back. Considering one was find in his apartment, I'm guessing he was given them back. This is a clear example of how targeted gun control can work. The families of the victims should sue everybody they can.
