  1. Missed that, thanks for sharing. The parallels to Nazi Germany are uncomfortable. I suggest to anyone that hasn't, to go to Germany and a concentration camp in particular. My faith in our democracy had severely deteriorated over the least 2 years, and I can't imagine it getting better the next 2. I just hope we can survive without starting a war, or plunging into another great recession or worse. The next problem we'll have, is coming to terms with the millions of people that still support this type of anti American values dressed up in sheep's clothing. I don't think this is going to end well in my lifetime.
  2. They are worried about losing control of the House in November, which is why I'm guessing they are pushing for an end so hard. Also, Kavanaugh's confirmation just got tougher south his stance on this investigation and indicting a sitting president. Once republicans lose control of the House... I expect **** to really hit the fan. No longer will they be able to hide behind majority control. Then, after all the facts are on the table in 2020, I genuinely expect the Republicans standing up for Trump and against the Mueller probe to be out of Congress. At least some...
  3. Agreed. The people advocating for reduced violence from police would do well to commend these officers up as examples of correct use of force. They didn't shot immediately, even though they knew he had a gun. It is pretty clear they gave this man plenty of chances to submit and go peacefully. He didn't, and drew his weapon, then was shot. Officers did everything correctly, from my untrained eye.
  4. Faux News is going hard after the Mueller investigation right now. My right wing Facebook friends are posting all kinds of garbage about conspiracies with the Clinton Foundation, the dossier, uranium, etc. There is no way they have any self respect anymore. I never thought a major news outlet would push this hard to help muddy waters of a legitimate inquiry into a foreign country ****ing with our election. It's now being stopped up to a whole new level.
  5. Maddon was the first to prove it can be a lethal tactic. That is why I brought them up. Those TB teams were built on solid pitching and a dynamic and creative lineup. IMO, there is a reason Zobrist has been on so many successful teams. I do agree much of moving players around happens at the MLB instead of MiLB. However, I do think players move around in the minors, at least in the twins they used to. In fact, before Tampa had success, I distinctly remember a bunch of people criticizing the twins for doing this.. i.e. them wanting to make everyone a utility inf. It used to be a point of emphasis for Tom Kelly to learn more than 1 position. I'm no TK fan, but this philosophy really took a dive when Gardy took over... except little Nicky Punto.
  6. Completely agree with developing position flexibility. It is tough to do once a player is already in the majors. I'd throw Tampa Bay in with that group on being successful with flexible players.
  7. Did they have to sign a form to allow them in the show? I highly doubt any of those people would be proud of that. They deserve any amount of shame they receive. I expect that type of reaction in many places around the country. That probably isn't too far off from the people that select the majority of our senators.
  8. When did it go public? I saw that one coming the first time I saw a device using it. Another 10 years and I might have my student loans paid off.
  9. Musk just loves being the center of attention. Tesla the company has issues, musk keeps the focus off their business issues. They are so far ahead everyone right now, and known for electric vehicles. The product is pretty good, they just need to increase production efficiency. That is a better problem than the other way around.
  10. That audio isn't as damming as it could be. It doesn't directly say Karen McDougal, so it takes logic and reasoning to figure out what the meaning is. That type of corruption is beyond the effort Trump base is willing to put in. My wife listened to it with me, and she said "so this is all a big conspiracy theory then? Doesn't sound like he's talking about anything incriminating." I expect that reaction from many people, and conservative media to twist it into a pretzel. The last bit is irritating. There isn't a single liberal outlet (my opinion) that would try to cover up this type of behavior. Had Clinton been wrapped in this type of controversy, her approval rating would be below 25%, and possibly already impeached.
  11. Musk sounds like he is considering opening a manufacturing plant in China. If Tesla builds a battery facility and a car factory in Asia they will be a force to be reckoned with in the automotive and electricity storage sectors. If course, they risk losing intellectual property with type of expansion, but I'm not sure it will matter. My colleague works with Tesla, and they are getting better, but they still are a **** show internally.
  12. I enjoyed the article. I took it more as a personal experience story than a neat and potatoes opinion piece. And, stories have value. It was well written and discussed a topic at a deeper level than is usually done. Sure, we discuss it, because we live here... Levi I adamantly disagree with you. I think you should reevaluate how you view political agendas. If being hateful, disgusting and other adjectives can be outweighed by the obnoxious left, I think you should consider intent and the impact on others these initiatives have? Greenpeace can be obnoxious, peta can be obnoxious, but never would I say they are worse for our society than the Breitbarts or Americans for prosperity. The latter organizations do real damage to individuals and our democracy. Extreme leftism can be pesky and obnoxious (but also do real positive things for their passions), but I'd take insufferable over malicious.
  13. Conservatives are turning on Trump. I'm surprised... for many reasons. Trump is having a meeting with Congress (most of whom are too weak to call him out). I'm interested to see his approval rating after this.
  14. I'd say it is more likely those hippies didn't vote rather than changed their vote. I don't think democrats are motivated the same way republicans are, especially evangelicals. Republicans are much more passionate at the ballot box when something infringes on their beliefs.
  15. The balance for that problem is supposed to be the house, but it is so skewed by gerrymandering, it isn't functioning the way it was intended. I'm not sure I buy the demographic argument. The same people that voted Trump also probably voted for Bush, and voted for Bush, possibly even Reagan. It isn't like a Republican shockingly accumulated enough votes to win. I don't need to go through all the reasons democrats lost again, it has been discussed to death already. I think the election in 2020 will be a much better representation of Democrat support.
  16. And the twins are gong to miss the playoffs regardless.
  17. Yes. Why is next year going to be different? No use making terrible trades like Ramos for Capps, but they have to use the available talent to make this organization better. This will not be a championship caliber team next year, why hold on to a guy when a trade could potentially improve it for years to come?
  18. Why? Did the twins can win 78 games instead of 75? Makes no sense. He is going to free agency, there is no reason not to trade him at peak value. The offer has to be right, but this team is going nowhere in 2019.
  19. It wasn't that long ago the democrats had a super majority. It can happen again. Time is not on the Republican side right now. The culture is going to shift dramatically in the next 20 years. Much more racial diversity, and much less religious.
  20. My first post on the baseball forum.... maybe all year.... The Twins would be crazy not to look into trading Gibson. Toy are all crazy to assume he has turned a corner and won't turn back into a pumpkin. If another team will give up some value, you trade him. Gibson is 30, and will almost certainly opt for free agency. I'm on team fire sale.
  21. Good luck to Trump to talk himself out of this one. The Republicans should get eaten alive with this performance at the midterms. They will try to save face, but for the swing voters, this should be a tough issue to ignore.
  22. Wow. I listened to the press conference and was dumb struck. I listened to the faux news review and it was not sunshine and rainbows, but the CNN review was very pointed and scathing. Trump was chewed up and spit out by Putin. Then, drenched in saliva, deflected questions aimed at Putin and displayed a joined effort to manipulate the truth.
  23. Fun final so far!
  24. I other news, Trump is making a mockery of the presidency in Europe this week. American idiot is in the top 20 in the UK right now. He called the Russia investigation a witch hunt again.... after being briefed that 12 Russians were going to be indicted. He still thinks Russia is our friend. Well, they are oblivious his friend since they helped get him elected.
  25. I really like where this thread is going right now.
