  1. Done.
  2. Nice to see that strikeout. The Santana trade still lives!
  3. Check your inbox.
  4. Was it the Pirates (or some other org) that required all new draftees to go to boot camp? Well the Twins could have forced TJ surgery for all their new players. Cutting edge.
  5. All surgery is invasive. (TJ requires anesthesia; which is inherently risky.) If it wasn't, there would never be any hesitation. You're totally disregarding medical ethics here.
  6. Sano's rights as a human being totally trump what's best for the team. I imagine he and he alone is the only one who could elect to have an invasive surgery not recommended by doctors.
  7. Since baseball players are human beings (and not automatons), an invasive surgery will be the last resort for any ethical doctor.
  8. Getting some time in the AFL would be a boon. At least his ML service clock hadn't started, if you're looking for a silver lining.
  9. In 21 games. Remember Parmelee's hot September? Let's see how he does once he's been exposed to the league a couple times and the scouting reports on him are well circulated.
  10. Pinto has played 19 games at AAA; it's completely sensible to start him at AAA.
  11. My premise is that the Twins don't see Pinto as an everyday catcher (just a premise, not a fact); and of course there's risk in making a trade like this. I think the catching pipeline takes a big jump this year with Turner and Navarreto. The Twins were in heavy on Salty so it's safe to say they have some lingering questions about Pinto. And everyone better get used the idea of Suzuki as their everyday starting catcher...
  12. Because they have two SS and no future catchers; again, I doubt a one for one trade gets it done. I certainly hope so. But the scouting reports are certainly mixed.
  13. Because there's more to catching than WAR. Pinto's ability to handle the pitching staff is the probably the biggest unknown and strike against him.
  14. Or loose morals.
  15. I think it will be far easier to find a catcher via FA or develop one in our minors; than it is to get an elite SS. I'm not sure that Pinto has the defensive chops to be the Twins everyday catcher. Might as well capitalize on his perceived value...
  16. MLBtraderumors suggests that the Diamondbacks are looking for a young catcher for one of their ML ready SS. Would you give up Pinto (plus something more?) to get one of these guys? I sure would.
  17. Some of the best writing I've seen period; and we have art direction and acting to boot. Television or not. It's gritty and dark. McCounahey's character is riveting and iconic; the plot leaves you guessing and scared. It's not for the light of heart, but watch it.
  18. Best show on TV. Discuss.
  19. I think it only makes sense to sign the Comp guys if you do as the Os did and sign multiple players to lessen the impact of the lost draft picks. That said, it seems far too bold to see the Twins signing any combination of Drew, Morales, or Santana.
  20. Peter GammonsVerified account ‏@pgammo Club take from Aledmys Dias Arizona workout:"Profiles as utility infielder...may struggle at short"
  21. I know it's not my place, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Do you realize how patronizing it is to use bold for emphasis? It's never going to elicit a productive conversation. While somewhat challenging, it is possible to utilize the natural emphasis of language and grammar to embolden your points. And to your larger point. If Gibson succeeded at the ML level, the Twins clearly kept him down too long. If Gibson failed at the ML level, the Twins clearly kept him down too long.
  22. Despite your bolding, lip-service isn't a fact (something you'd use against the organization at your behest, I think). It's easy to say someone won something that they didn't. We call those beauty prizes. That it took so long for DeVrie to earn his way back speaks far more to what the Twins thought of him, than some give-a-way quote in Spring Training. Really. You can pretend to know what Gibson would have done if you had this that and the other, but really, no one knows, least of all any of us. Gibson stumbled at the ML level, and it's a surrender of personal responsibility to suggest it's anything but his fault. The Twins, honestly, put him in the best position to succeed. That he didn't suggests something about both the extent of his injury and his development.
