  1. Very well said. The situation may be different if the Twins had started the season poorly, but letting Berrios fail at the ML level while the team is winning is far more detrimental than say letting Buxton work through his struggles at the plate (not to mention Buxton's boon in the field).
  2. Damn you're thorough! So who is your fifth starter? Berrios starting in both the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation? #geniusGM
  3. More than one month. But I agree, at certain point (I'm not arrogant enough to say I know when), you'll want to expose Berrios to ML hitters. I'm hoping that his poor ML results last year are motivating him to work beyond the success sustained in AAA box scores.
  4. Blackburn? Pelfrey? Nolasco? No one's judging Berrios by the results of his more-than-cup-of-coffee ML debut last year; pretending they don't exist is the problem. Again, what do you actually know about what has changed in regard to Berrios' likelihood of ML success? Nothing. You're just spit balling. That you bring up Blackburn and Pelfrey shows your unwillingness to separate the new regime from the old. Terry Ryan's ghost must haunt you.
  5. This joke doesn't even make sense now that TR is gone. Wouldn't that be the old plan?
  6. If your point is that there's just one, well what good would firing coaches or whatever changes you would make do? I imagine there's far more approaches than you're wiling to entertain here. The lack of fastball command was evidently a problem throughout the organization, suggesting in the prior regime, well, there wasn't a plan.
  7. That the problem is the same--fastball command--makes sense. My point is that the solution/plan likely differs from that of the old regime.
  8. Can you be specific beyond his AAA stat line? Are you just ignoring the fact that he dominated AAA all of last year and became the worse pitcher in baseball by a mile? In 2016: Berrios dominates AAA, gets promoted and fails horribly. In 2017: Berrios dominates AAA. What's changed? I don't know that anything has, and you don't know either. But your all-caps hot takes is sure to get a couple of likes.
  9. The reason I ask whether it's true is because the source is hardly reputable (duh). But my cursory research does suggest that pre-existing conditions prior to Obamacare did include things like domestic violence. That said, there's nothing to suggest this is false. Insurance companies have every reason to include what ever they can to deny the vulnerable and the infirm.
  10. You'll still need a 5th starter, Dave. I think it's foolish to simply cut Gibby, given the organizations lack of depth. The reality is there just aren't that many good starters in the organization. The team should do all it can to ensure that pitchers develop appropriately and are ready when they are promoted, as well as retain whatever depth they can.
  11. Although the people within an organization are important, far more important is the plan which these people set out to execute. It was never realistic to expect Falvey to fire everyone, it's not as if the coaches are going rogue and secretly executing Terry Ryan's former wishes. At the season's end, I expect we'll see lots of people let go, but we'll also see many retained.
  12. WT-actual-F? Is this true? 'Under Trumpcare plan, rape would be considered a pre-existing condition'.
  13. I think some people forget that we had regime change over the winter, and I think the pitching philosophy generally has changed, and the specific plan for Berrios has changed too. Again, Berrios was really, really bad after most those innings--the plan I'm sure has changed since then. The measuring stick of scrapping the plan should start at spring training (which was compromised because the WBC), so whatever plan Falvey has for Berrios has been somewhat truncated, and certainly isn't the total of the 200 innings at AAA.
  14. Well, at least at TD since it's inception, the hand-wringing over not promoting a pitching prospect has been squarely put at the feet of the Front Office--that's background to my assertion. With that said, I think box-score success at AAA can really get into a young players head and derail their development. In the end, who cares about getting AAA hitters out, work on the aspects of your game that will lead to major league success, even at the expense of getting those AAA hitters out.
  15. It's not a questions of if he'll get his shot again, it's a question of when; as I said in the following post to the one you quoted, it seems as if the coaches are looking for execution of a specific plan. I bet Falvey has all kinds of contingencies, benchmarks, and inevitabilities built into Berrios' plan to success in the majors. As long as the Twins are competitive, it will be somewhat prohibitive from letting Berrios learn on the job--that is until the other options have failed. Gibson might only get a few more chances, Tepesch isn't the answer, and is likely only keeping the spot warm for Berrios or Meija.
  16. Also, a strike doesn't necessarily mean the pitcher hit his spot.
  17. Sure, I guess. But I imagine/hope the plan for Berrios (as with all of our pitchers) has changed since the new regime. They probably haven't had the same approach for Berrios over that 35 starts (unfortunately). I suppose one could be frustrated by Berrios being kept down, but that Molitor was so specific with why he's not coming up (lack of fastball command) suggests that the coaches/front office are looking for execution of a particular plan. At certain point when do we stop blaming coaching/management and put some onus on the player. I think people put out of their mind just how crazy bad Berrios was last year at the ML level. His prior AAA success is totally meaningless given those results.
  18. The number of starts and innings is about as meaningful as his awesome AAA stats themselves if what Molitor says is true: that he's still lacking command of his fastball. I want to see him up here too, but given the results last year (with a lot of success at AAA under his belt), I think its prudent for the Twins to be conservative/cautious, and look beyond the box score for evidence of readiness.
  19. It sounds like they may get the Healthcare bill through the House. This bill evidently is more objectionable than the first one which failed.
  20. My assumption has been if there was anything there, Trump would be insulated from criminal liability through plausibility deniability--which would be buttressed by Trump's own idiocy. Although the Russian connections might not bear fruits of impeachability, perhaps the cover-up regarding Flynn might yield criminal liability for some in the White house. If Pence really was in charge of vetting Flynn and knew full well of his connections yet gave him the pass and perpetuated the false narrative that he was somehow lied to by Flynn, Pence might be the more likely candidate for impeachment
  21. Clever. "Get by with illicit help from your friends." "Luke is in a desert and whining."
  22. Me too. But I worry the pace of the investigations and hearings will just normalize the issue, and anything less than impeachable offenses will get drowned out by static.
  23. Well Trump sure is winning. Look at all the stuff he got in the spending bill:
  24. Markkanem I think can grow quite a bit on defense--as he gains bulk and is further removed from Europe's game. He did show some blocking skills late in the season and in the Pac-12 tournament. Though Isaac's potential is also very attractive, though not sure what position he would play.
  25. That's fair, but you figured after the 6th or 7th homer, the Reds would at least pitch around the guy, until they figure out how to exploit his weaknesses.
