  1. Park might end up being alright this year
  2. Twins drinking game: drink 1 every time someone mentions how good of an athlete Sano is in reference to him playing right
  3. 6 K for Gibby through 3, only the 1 mistake so far, not too shabby.
  4. My cousin's girlfriend's brother's boss' dogsitter said he needed an emergency appendectomy but the doctors accidently took his liver instead. So I think he's day to day.
  5. The throw to home was cut off and Plouffe got caught betwee 1st and 2nd, if the throw goes through to the plate Plouffe is on second.
  6. A strong back of the bullpen is becoming just as important as the starting rotation. Perkins, Jepson, May should make for a very solid 7/8/9th inning pen.
  7. May is a good piece to the back of the pen, he's still young enough to get back to stating again sometime in the future.
  8. Didn't the Mets flirt with a 6 man rotation late last year? Any possibilities of the Twins doing this?
  9. I don't really see him doing a Nishi and forfeiting the rest of his contract but yes, we can dream.
  10. "other options" for Nolasco: the Twins aren't just going to cut him and eat the 25 mil left they owe him so they'd have to trade him somehow. A trade at this point in the season with a contract like he has is pretty much impossible, if you know of a similar deal made I'd be interested to hear about it. So, they'd have to trade him at some point in the season, unless he's pitching like a cy young candidate I don't think you'll be able to trade him straight up for anything and if he's pitching like that I'd want him to stay. I think the only way they're able to trade him is to package him with another player or prospect and also continue to pay for a portion of his contract. Who would you package with him and how much of his contract would you pay?
  11. I don't know if any team would ever really do this but what if you have a starter 5a and 5b so to speak. If one of these guys are going to the pen if they don't make the rotation why not just piggy back them every 5th start. Have Nolasco start and go through the lineup 2 times then have Milone/Duffy come in for the next 2 times through. Considering pitchers generally struggle more on the 3rd time through that would limit their exposure to getting rocked.
  12. How well will Nolasco have to pitch to get any value in return? I don't think we've seen a healthy Nolasco yet so I'm waiting to pass judgement on that move, obviously it hasn't worked out so far. But if he's pitching good enough is he the one to trade then? Last year Pelfrey had a decent enough 1st have but he didn't get moved. I'd be really shocked to see any sort of trade for anyone before June barring some sort of injury causing a major hole for some other team. I'm not really a believer in Arcia as much as other people are, I hope I'm wrong, but I do want to see him get a chance and provide some pop off the bench. I don't see him winning a starting job but as a 4th OF off the bench, I'd take that.
  13. Other than the over analyzed Sano to the OF, what will Park do, and Berrios shoud be in the rotation talk what other developments are you looking to see play out as actual games are so close to starting? Will Rosario be able to improve in his second season or will we see a sophomore slump? Will Buxton improve his eye at the plate enough to be a valuable hitter? Will this finally be the season Joe turns is sliding career around and become a useful first baseman? Thoughts? Looking for different topics other than the dead horses piling up in the room.
  14. If Berrios starts the year in AAA I don't think he'll be there for long. If any of the starters struggle at all I could see some sort of mystery injury pop up all of a sudden to land them on the DL for "shoulder strain" or something like that and end up being the longest minor injury to recover from. As long as he doesn't start his 3rd consecutive futures game this year I can wait a few weeks until something opens up. If he's not up I hope is because of the rotation performing well and not because someone is under performing and just locked into the rotation.
  15. There's a good article on the Strib about Hunter working with Sano: http://www.startribune.com/hunter-already-impressed-with-sano-s-talent-and-attitude-in-outfield/370435551/ Sano seems to be an intelligent player with a good work ethic to be able to pull this off. He WILL make mistakes in the outfield as he learns his new position, hopefully they won't cost games, but how he adjusts and learns from his mistakes will determine how good he can be out there. I really don't think there is any player to really compare him to, he's such a different beast of a player, who knows he could end up being the fastest 260 pounder we've ever seen. As he plays the outfield more I'm guessing he'll shed a few pounds also. One thing that does concern me is the possibility of a hamstring flaring up, if he does start dealing with leg injuries that could end up spelling disaster for Sano and the Twins this year. I get the sense that people think this is a semi-permanent move to the outfield until 1B opens up. Has there been any reports out there saying that he'll never go back to third? I know Molly said he won't play third this year, I've always assumed this is just a temporary move until third opens up one way or another.
  16. I think this is the year to really see if Ryan can make the necessary moves to build a quality team. The farm system is more stocked with prospects close to being ready than any other year in recent memory. Will Ryan be able to make the tough move and bring up some of these guys if and when somebody struggles, I hope so. I don't fault him for not going out and getting a big name FA bullpen arm considering the depth in the system. No need to sign another guy to create more of a logjam. With the progress the Mets, Royals, Astros and Cubs have made with their farm systems the Twins should be able to make similar improvements this year. The opening day roster will be what it is, but it's the roster in June and after August that will determine if this will be a wining team. Can't wait for games to start so we can actually see how this all plays out.
  17. As long as Plouffe is on the team and healthy he's the third baseman. Sano in right will be interesting for sure, I think this experiment only works with Buxton in center to cover the extra area that Sano can't get to. It seems best to let Sano learn and get comfortable in right before moving him back to third. I don't think this move should be viewed that Sano can't or never will play third ever again but until the position opens up you need to have his bat in the lineup somehow. There doesn't seem to be much demand for third basemen right now so I wouldn't expect to see Plouffe get traded anytime soon. Until they can get some good value back he should stay on the team. It'll be interesting to see what happens late in a close game, do they pull Sano for better defense or leave him in there?
  18. Just thinking that 200 is in the realm of possibility is exciting. Considering that the most over that last handful of years has been just over 150 I'd be happy to see anything in the 170-180 range.
  19. Nice article, it's nice to see where all the trade branches go and what comes from them. Curious what the next oldest active "tree" is right now.
  20. Like the aggressiveness with Bux there, he just needs to learn how to slide. Nice face plant.
