    Would Hernandez rate some where around what Duensing was rated when he was brought up? Sounds like the stuff is about the same. Would another Duensing and Punto be that bad for a guy gone at the end of the season?

    Not sure why either team would do this deal now. They aren't going anyplace this year but this winter Hultzen and Vargas might be ok. Vargas could fill a spot next year, god knows we need starters and Hultzen is the potential ace we need. Vargas could always be flipped next July for more prospects.

    We had the worst record in the AL last year, remember the #2 draft pick? We have had the worst record for most of this year, just moved past the Royals and some how doing nothing is the answer? I don't get it.

    Unless you are a fan that thinks a couple more wins we'll be back in the race, there is little reason to be upset. If you are one of those fans you need help! We got something for him rather than see him leave after the season and get nothing. It is not in Ryan's dna to spend big money on free agents so thinking Liriano would sign a long term deal to stay is silly. Now could he come back when he finds no market for his good, bad and sometimes ugly pitching, sure but why would we want that. We have a bad team, it has been a bad team for over a year and thinking that a bad team has a lot of great players worth a small fortune doesn't make sense. Trade anything worth talent in return, every player on this team can be replaced and lets rebuild a team not for competeing in the central but a team worth watching come playoff time. Of course do it on the cheap!

    Listening to Dick, Bert, Coomer and friends it's hard to understand how this team with all these great players can be in last place.

    Nothing new with the wait for a week dl trip. Lets hope Valencia does well we really need any ML level talent we can find if he can get back to that.

    They certainly have played like a farm team the last year and a half so I can see how it could be confusing.

    We are in last place with him if you get an offer you can't refuse do it! Before this team is good again without a lot of new talent he'll be retired.

    I'd add Burton to Span and ask for Corcino or Cingrani and Didi.

    Frankie may have as much or more talent but can you rely on him when your season may be on the line? Doubt it. If the O's offered a big plate of crab cakes and a six pack Gardy would be happy.

    Seems like Hicks has not lived up to the hype but if you look at his stats next to Torii age for age to where Hicks is now he has been better at every level. If he turns out as good as Torii I'd be real happy. Trade Rumor says the O's are looking at Frankie. Not sure what they have to offer back, maybe crab cakes?

    Morneau is now the only Twin to have played in a Playoff win by the Twins. 2004 is a long time ago, with a lot of good players, 2 mvp's, 2 cy youngs, 3 batting champs and no playoff wins. Time for a change and after the season to save face is fine.

    Could be the White Sox are looking at Garza and the Cubs are scouting the Sox. Unless of course the Twins may want to bring Garza back home, seems likely doesn't it? I bet you'll see a bunch of scouts at nearly every game this time of year.

    Gardy gets paid very well to pace, sigh, shrug, eat sunnies and look dejected. Why would he give up that pay check?

    That would sure be like the twins to take on that contract and a guy that may have issues. If he doesn't have issues why would they want to trade a guy with that upside and that young?

    Len3 says the Twins are getting calls on Span and Willie but not on Liriano. They are calling other teams trying to find a taker for him.

    I think the Liriano market is going to be really soft. Think about it, every team that needs pitching has watched him for years and they all know he is anything but reliable. Now you are in the race do you really want to bet your chances on a guy that may be a dud. You trade for him and he gives you 2-3 starts like his last or early this season and you are out of it. I think the only place he goes is a really desperate team after everything else is done. Span might go to the Reds or Nats but I don't think he'll bring much back as much as we hope. Willingham is the best chance to really add some talent but wouldn't some fans revolt meaning more empty seats and more empty seats meaning lower payroll next year? This team really is a mess. Sorry I'm getting a little depressed after all this losing. Please something good happen!!

    A lot of stuff going on and players moving around the last few days. I'm starting to think Ryan will overplay his hand the only deals done will be minor like maybe Carroll. With his age and contract that may make it a salary dump with a real low prospect coming back. Really my question is are they ready to rebuild or are they still thinking after over 1 1/2 in last place that this isn't a bad team, just an unlucky one. I just don't see a solid plan on what to do next.

    Well Dick says the goal now is to catch KC and get out of last place. Not sure we can do that without Liriano and that would really mean more than getting a few prospects that might turn into players. We have so much talent stockpiled in the minors do we even have room for them?

    Dick and Coomer need to stop trashing Dunn.

    Marlins are moving their CF into 2nd base. Could they use Span as part of a deal for Johnson or with only next year left on Johnsons contract is that a short sighted move?
