  1. I had to look it up. Good God. In 40 games vs. our boys, 177 PA, 16 2B, 19 HR, 45 RBI, .392/.475/.869 with a cool OPS of 1.344.
  2. I like Romo as setup. Duffey has great stuff and I do really think he has the make up to be a shut down reliever, his problem is that damn control. Once he loses it, he really loses it. If he could learn to harness it just a little better I really think he could be something special.
  3. They took 2/3 of the road and blew the last game in pretty remarkable fashion, it was much closer to a sweep than "barely" beating them. The season is 162 games long, if they lose the division by 1 game there will be ~60-70 losses they could look back on. Losses happen.
  4. Also the offense seemingly already left for Target field mid game. In the last 7 innings the Twins had 2 hits, they both came in the 7th. The other 6 innings Marlin relievers faced the minimum batters.
  5. Did he forget where he put his control? What part of intel is finding the strike zone? He walked 7 batters in 51 innings all season and then walked 2 in 5 batters. I get making every excuse why he did bad, but sometimes you just gotta chalk it up to he didn't have it and got beat. He was throwing as hard as he usually does.
  6. This is an interesting topic, because what do you do? You can't pay all young players a TON more, because only a small handful are worth it. You start taking away the "free" years and there are a lot of guys who don't get the chance to develop because they are forced on ML rosters or are gone. Not every prospect can cut thru the minors and onto a big league roster in 2-3 years. Baseball is an outlier sport because of varying stages of development time for so many players. It's obvious we are seeing a shift, as more and more veteran players are not seeing the 5-6-7+ years contracts into their 30's. Teams are getting smarter....payrolls aren't getting smaller though. Guys are still getting paid. It's interesting. I'm not sure what the solution is. I think they need to push back the deadline. Not enough teams are ready yet. Push it back 15-30 days.
  7. My bad, it wasn't you who questioned Wolfson's report earlier.
  8. Boston and New York also on his NTC. He probably has his reasons. I will say it again, he's a weird dude, so who knows.
  9. Because he's a weird dude? Who knows. A guy who does it for a living reports he wouldn't waive the no-trade clause to come here. You either believe him or yell conspiracy to anyone who will listen. I'll go ahead and believe him.
  10. None of the top bullpen guys moved. Vazquez, Diaz, Smith, Giles, Yates etc. Probably tells us they were at absolute premium price.
  11. Can we let anything play out before doomsday predictions,?
  12. The pitchforks are already out and deadline is still hours away.
  13. The front office in their 3rd season has the Twins 24 games above .500 and on pace to win 98 games. Two seasons ago when the Twins snuck into a WC game, a lot of people clamored and yelled when they didn't add, didn't trade pieces likes Kepler, Polanco, etc to bring in talent. It looks like not adding and trading young talent paid off. They added Perez, Cron, Gonzalez, Cruz in the offseason which all have paid big dividends. But now if they don't bring in any more players today, you have come to the conclusion that they can't get it done and should be replaced. I get being frustrated, but the overreactions around here sometimes are unbelievable.
  14. Matt Chapman's gold glove defense at 3rd base makes him a much more valuable player. Reyes has a nice power stroke, no doubt, but should rarely if ever see time in the field.
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Twins end up getting Will Smith.
  16. After a brutal start Sano has an OPS of of .914, (which would be 7th in AL if he had enough PA to qualify) and Buxton's real only hold back is he cannot seem to stay healthy, he's having a better season than he did in 2016 when he put up 5.1 WAR. I would say they are both pretty choice pieces.
  17. The Cubs bullpen could possibly be in need of arms more than ours, I highly doubt they would trade Kintzler. There is about no reason the Giants would want Schoop if they are trading Bumgarner. A trade of Madbum means they are not competing and have basically zero use of a rental player like Schoop.
  18. I'm holding out for a flurry of deals in the last 8-10 hours but with NOTHING coming in, sure seems like it's going to be underwhelming.
  19. I don't think it's a theory, the Twins had a lot of good teams, but rarely were they dominant. It just happens more times than not they faced a complete juggernaut in the Yankees in a the playoffs. Most of those teams had more All Star and HOF caliber players than some teams have ever had in their team's history. Not that I am using it as an excuse, but it needs to be noted. But this year, yes please make some moves.
  20. Kubel had knee problems off and on all year that year and Shannon Stewart was a starter who missed alot of the season with injuries as well. That series I will never forget Frank Thomas taking Johan deep twice in Game 1, and Torii Hunter making a very ill advised dive a fly ball in a tie game that resulted in a 2-run inside the park HR for Mark Kotsay. Frustrating times.
  21. That game sucked too. The Mauer foul ball call. Either way, the Twins rarely put up enough runs to win against those Yankee teams.
