  1. Which players have been let go for making comments? Which players have had attitudes and were traded at the deadline? Where does this stuff come from?
  2. The deal comes out to: 2020: $4.75M 2021: Team Option of $5M with a $250K buyout. http://www.startribune.com/reliever-sergio-romo-will-return-to-twins/566260782/ I dig the option for a 2nd year. Also, let's try and keep this thread about Sergio Romo and not what people think about the front office's other moves and non moves they have made this offseason.
  3. The NFL and the MLB are very different. MLB contracts are often times fully guaranteed, where is the NFL contracts are not. There is also a salary cap in the NFL. I will not get into a Cousins debate with you because we obviously have different views on that as well. Cousins is pretty much in the Top 5 of every QB stat across the board this year. I don't know what else a lot of Viking fans want.
  4. Why would we be upset not signing Porcello? Outside of being an innings eater, he is a fairly mediocre pitcher. 2/3 seasons his FIP was above 4.60, his BB/9 and K/9 were the worst in his career last year and he had an xFIP of 5.14. I get it that's he's only 31 and is a bounce back candidate, but I would say there is a better way of spending $10M dollars.
  5. It's December. If the team looks like this in late March, I will agree with you but it's far from that. The Twins won 29 more games than Chicago last season. Adding Grandal and Mazara puts them at a lock huh?
  6. I'd like to see you back up the Twins having tendency to dump players at an alarming rate and show some examples of players who think they have no stability with the team.
  7. I really think Littell is done as a starter. He looked like he could turn into a a pretty nice bullpen asset as the season progressed last year.
  8. Fair enough, but that still doesn't mean he doesn't have upside. Yes, he's not Wheeler, Cole, or Strasburg, but it's certainly a decent addition to the club.
  9. When he got suspended last year I would say he was probably the front runner to start game 1 in the postseason. Yes, he is not a top of the rotation guy everyone wants, but there is certainly upside.
  10. Amazing value and signing. For everyone calling him a "good 4 or 5" forget how excellent he was in July and August last season.
  11. The is the most reasonable post in this thread IMO. Eddie has more value in 2020 to the Twins than what he would get back in return. There is no one knocking on the door to take his spot right now and he is still a big time thread with the bat.
  12. Rooker's AAA numbers look good until you see he struck out 35% of the time. You have to assume that number will go up in the majors too, unless he can work on that, I have a hard time seeing him just being plugged into 1B.
  13. Jorge has played all of 15 games at 3B in a decade long career. Changing positions isn't that easy.
  14. I also think there is no way the Twins pay that either. IF they do plan on bringing Cron back, you have to probably assume they decline arbitration and offer him a 1 year deal more in the 4-5M range.
  15. I think anyone would love to have Merrifield on this team, but he would more than likely cost a fortune to pry away from Kansas City. If they are going to be using assets like that to acquire anyone, I'd rather they do it for pitching
  16. WIth Rogers number to jump that high.......I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an extension before arbitration hits.
  17. For reference, per mlbtraderumors. Their arbitration estimates: Twins (10) Sam Dyson – $6.4MM Ehire Adrianza – $1.9MM C.J. Cron – $7.7MM Trevor May – $2.1MM Eddie Rosario – $8.9MM Miguel Sano – $5.9MM Byron Buxton – $2.9MM Taylor Rogers – $3.9MM Tyler Duffey – $1.1MM Jose Berrios – $5.4MM
  18. With the way the Twins schedule sets up, they would only need a 5th starter 3 times in their 1st 40 games to still start everyone else on full rest. Plus....the Twins should have more than 5 guys capable of starting a ballgame anyways. They will have Dobnak, Smeltzer, Thorpe, Stashak still in the system if they aren't on the major league club. All are capable of putting together a decent outing.
  19. Because Odorizzi and Pineda were good pitchers this year. I haven't seen one person clamor to bring Perez back. In terms of FIP and WAR Berrios and Odorizzi were Top 30 starters this year, there's good reason to want to bring Jake back. Berrios is 25 years old and put up the best ERA+ of his career. Even if the Twins had 2 more aces, they likely lose Games 2 and 3 anyways because they didn't score any runs.
  20. Wow a whole team of rookies and castoffs that just won 101 games. Color me shocked. Can we get rid of this perceived reputation? They were a middle of the road of the salary team who had the best offense in baseball.
  21. Sometimes the hits just don't fall. Look at Game 3. Torres's HR cleared the wall by about 2 feet. Eddie missed a HR by about as much, and Marwin needed the about the same to tie the game. If Sano's line drive blast late is 6 inches higher it gets over Judge's head and Twins score. Game of inches sometimes.
  22. If you want someone in the system replacing Cron, Rooker probably is the more likely option. He put up a .933 OPS in AAA last year. Kiriloff's OPS against AA pitching was lower than what Cron did at the major league level.
  23. Why wouldn't the Twins just trade prospects? What's the use of trading Buxton AND prospects, when they could just do it with prospects and keep Buxton?
  24. Yankees playing nearly at full strength after being injured all year long. After being relatively healthy all year long, the Twins had the injuries hit them pretty hard in September. I imagine this would be a whole different series if Buck and Big Mike were on the roster and Kepler/Marwin/Garver were all closer to full health as well.
  25. Awfully disappointing ending to the season.... but by far the most fun season in a long time. That being said, it's going to be a long offseason.
