  1. So proud of these guys. So much angst of what could have done better, who else we should have gotten, etc.........that this is going to be the best team win wise in over a half a century. Whether or not we realize it now, this is something special. Teams don't win 98+ games often. We are in for a ride.
  2. Man, as much as I/we like to dog on Eddie, he is so damn charismatic. So much energy, so much fun when things are going his way. Teams need guys like him when he has a cast like the Twins do. Also. Dobnak. I love this kid. 2019 Division Champs. First goal. Let's go.
  3. ' The only problem here is by not starting Berrios/Odo in Game 1, then they neither have a chance to pitch in Game 5 if it comes down to it.
  4. ' He also has a nice mustache I see you absentmindedly left out.
  5. Even so it seems weird just 3 days after he threw 93 pitches. I could see if he hadn't pitched in 6+ days or something, but it seems like an odd decision with as many arms are up.
  6. I don't think anyone is sleeping on Tito, but the Twins have a 5.5 game lead with 21 games to play. Last night was only one game.
  7. Lot of finger pointing going around. Hard to win games when you score 2 runs through 11 innings.
  8. The last 6 series that have went to 5 games, no team used more than 12 pitchers, and 3/5 used 11 or fewer. Give me a speed guy off the bench over a 9th reliever anytime.
  9. In a 5 game series, do you really need 9 relief arms? I'm trying to come up with a situation where Thorpe would get a chance. In a blowout maybe? I'd rather see a 4 man rotation, 8 pen arms and an extra bat off the bench.
  10. I didn't get to see the game, but looking at the box score and game log, it seemed Jose did a decent job with everyone outside of Betts....then ran out of steam in the 6th. Am I off on that? I guess if you get beat it's better it's an MVP caliber player than a scrub. Either way, take the series tonight!
  11. I really think that Pineda and Odo are going to be at least looking for 3 year deals in FA. Odo at 2/20 is ridiculously low, IMO.
  12. What exactly did the Twins do? Move him to the bullpen? I don't get the blaming the team. Did Romero forget his control because he is coming out of the pen? A good pitcher will be able to get hitters out either way.
  13. Easy to say in hindsight. There was plenty of talk to trade Polonco, Kepler, Berrios, Buxton etc... 2-3-4 years ago too. It's easy to point out the guys that flamed out and ignore the ones who kept getting better.
  14. What's the chances Smeltzer even sees multiple starts before the playoffs start? I think there's about zero chance he is even considered for a playoff start. Probably a much better chance he is left off the playoff roster IMO.
  15. Outside of Romero and possibly Gordon, were we expecting much help this year? Does Garver not count? He's having quite the breakout season. How about Adrianza? he has been around but he has had quite the breakout. The rest of the offense haven't really given anyone else an opportunity to even get AB's. I'll agree with you on the pitching, a lot of guys had had chances and no one has really stuck. We have seen some stuff from Smeltzer, Thorpe has shown some promise. Most Twins prospects were at the lower levels coming into this year, that has to be taken into account. Next season is one to watch for break out players with so many talents being in AA and above.
  16. I'd go with an 11 man staff. You do not need a 5th starter and depending on how you use your staff maybe not even a 4th starter in a 5 game series.
  17. You are very right on your BABIP look at things, his BABIP since the break is overt .600 which is outrageous. But you went too far comparing him to Tyner who had a SLG for his career of .323.
  18. Disappointing start to the week, but they closed strong. Anytime people start saying "We need 5-1 or we HAVE to sweep here" is going to probably bring disappointment more times than not. Winning 2/3 all year long would result in 106 or so wins. If they didn't give away Game 1 against Chicago, they would have done just that. Last long road trip of the year starting tomorrow, Buck might be back....I'm excited.
  19. Getting 2 ER ball out of 5+ innings of a starter IS valuable though. I think all of us would like it if Jake could save a few pitches during his outings and go 7 everytime out, but sometimes you just gotta take what you can get.
  20. Kepler has played 4 innings of 1B in his career, I know he can play there, but thinking he is going to probably isn't going to happen in the stretch run when you have Cron, Sano, Adrianza and Marwin who have all played there this season. Unless Rosario is up and running full speed and moving in the OF like he should, keep running Cave out there IMO.
  21. That's why when you are this far into a season you celebrate the victories and lament the losses. If you can't celebrate today's victory because we are a worried about losses down the road, what can you really celebrate? We moved 1 day closer to the postseason with a 2.5 game lead in the division. Enjoy the win today and root them on for a series win tomorrow.
  22. I mean....that's not entirely true. It's pretty much just a 1/5 (or so) chance he is going up against the other team's ace.
  23. Twins were up 7-0 after 7 against one of the worst offenses in the league. Why try and overuse Berrios when they don't need to? A CGSO is nice, but in the long run, save that arm.
