Musk21

Zsa Zsa Gabor, who had been on someone's list each of the 1st 9 years of us doing this (including 14 lists in 2012), died at the age of 99. No one had her on their list in 2016.

I guess I don't see what the big deal is. Tubby Smith spent $172,000 on average over 5 years at the U, although that included lodging, meals, etc. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2015/03/17/mens-basketball-recruiting-kansas-kentucky-louisville/24911927/ Competing for recruits has gotta be a cutthroat business....

There were so many times that I contemplated going to one of his impromptu shows at Paisley Park. I always had an excuse....Too late at night, who am I going to go with. After reading the accounts yesterday/today of so many that have gone, I am so pissed that I missed out on the chance. Such a huge loss. I usually laugh at all of the "one of us" connections that us Minnesotans like to present, but Prince truly was proud to be "one of us." And there will never be a Minneapolis icon like him in our lifetime.

Country music icon Merle Haggard died today on his 79th birthday. Current Standings 1. luke829 (K.Turner, R. Angelil, J.Feek) - 141 pts 2. lecroy24fan (M.Haggard, M. I completely agree with Kenny Williams' decision on this. It's about setting precedence for future players. You let Drake LaRoche be a "26th man" and where does it stop? Are they going to let any or all other players' kids do the same? Seems the players have LaRoche's back on this, but would any of them really feel comfortable to speak out against it? I think the Red Sox had it right when they decided in 2014 to limit on field access for children. Set up a family room for families and concentrate on your job. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/adam-laroche-drake-chicago-white-sox-bringing-kids-to-work-a-big-issue-in-baseball-031716

Could use a few more entrants....Accepting lists through this week. Get 'em in!

They already did one on Randy Moss, but I think the Vikings would make for a good documentary. 4 lost Super Bowls, Darrin Nelson's drop in '88, the historic '98 season and futile NFC Championship loss to the Falcons, 41-0 in the '01 NFC Championship, Korey Stringer, Favre and the '09 season. Plenty to choose from....

I watched 1-7 over 2 nights, then skipped 8 & 9 and went straight to 10. I already knew what happened and 6 - 9 are mostly focused on the trials, really heavy and kinda hard to watch (stay awake) late at night.

So you went to sleep about an hour ago then?

It was May 1990 and the Red Sox were in town for a weekend series against the Twins. My Dad was a waiter at a downtown restaurant and 3 guys strolled in Saturday night just as the restaurant was getting ready to close. They told my Dad that they really wanted to eat there and that if he could get the cooks to make them each a meal that they'd get him tickets to the Twins/Red Sox game on Sunday. He asked if they played for the Twins and they said "No, we're on the Red Sox." My Dad told them that he had wanted to take his family to Boston soon and wondered if they might be able to get him tickets to game at Fenway. They said "Sure, no problem." He was mostly a casual baseball fan, but told one of the guys that he looked familiar. He said "Yeah, I'm Roger Clemens." My Dad told them to sit down, that if he had to make the food himself, he'd do it. The other two guys were Marty Barrett and John Marzano. About a week or so later, Marty Barrett called our house one evening to set everything up for us. Said he'd have the tickets waiting for us at Will Call. We planned a trip to trip out to Boston for early August. Before the game, my Dad knocked on some door in the stadium and told the clubhouse attendant who we were and to see if we could personally tell Marty Barrett thanks. He let us in the clubhouse and we chatted with Barrett for awhile. It was in a hallway of some sort, not the actual locker room. A few players walked by including Clemens. I said "Hi Roger! Good luck today!" He ignored me.....Barrett said "Don't feel bad, kid....He's pitching today. That's part of his pregame ritual to not talk to ANYONE. He does it to us too!" They game was great. Barrett had provided us with tickets right behing the plate. Clemens pitched a great game and it was on his 28th birthday. Afterwards we went to the players parking lot and got a bunch of autographs including Clemens, Cecil Fielder, Jack Morris....Was a pretty amazing trip for a 13 year old baseball fanatic!

You are the only one with him on their list for 30 points.....And you take the slim lead on Dec 28th! Current Standings 1. Pius Jefferson (Lemmy, J. It's time to get ready for the 10th annual Celebrity Death Pool! Start compiling your lists for 2016. Rules are: Pick 25 celebrities that you think may pass away during 2015. Points are earned based on age. 100 minus their age. So if someone on your list dies and was 88 years old, you earn 12 points. If someone was 24, you earn 76 points. Celebrities are allowed per my approval. They need to be pretty well known. George Clooney's nephew does not count, but Michael Lohan would be allowed. I'll notify you if someone on your list doesn't meet the criteria.- Send completed lists to me here via PM. Lists will be accepted through Jan 14th, 2016. Let me know if you have any questions.
