  1. IMO, the Twins don't believe that Doumit is good enough to catch that many games a year. Butera wouldn't be here if that were the case. I wouldn't want to see either of them behind the plate for 80 games a year and I don't want any more reasons to waste a roster spot (imo) on someone that should have been a career minor leaguer in Butera.
  2. Mauer has been healthy all season (minus last weeks hiccup) but has still only started 31 out of 64 games at catcher. Maybe the Twins should be trying to find an everyday catcher for the future and not worry so much about resigning the backup to the not so everyday starter.
  3. I should have said away from catching at all not full time since he's already playing other positions.
  4. Thanks, I think I probably stole that from someone else. I'd rather have a Ferrari myself, on the highway but I'd much rather have a Chevy truck in the mud. Maybe the best way to keep Joe out of the shop is to keep him away from catching full time.
  5. By high maintenance I mean physically not personality wise.
  6. I can't speak for the op on the other thread but as far as my comment goes I was kidding for the most part. Most catchers are like old chevy pickups, beat up, banged up, and still keep running. As a Twins fan I've gotten used to Joe being more like a Ferarri, it's gonna take a few more days and a few more bucks before you get him runnin again. I don't expect Joe to put up unrealistic numbers and I don't at all feel bad for thinking he's higher maintenance than most. I think he's proven that.
  7. Don't take it so personally, iz just funnin.
  8. Somebody please erase this...before Joe reads it and misses 3 months with hurt feelings. Also known as bilateral leg weakness
  9. Does anyone have an idea on how signable Baxendale(sp) will be?
  10. Hamels changeup was sick the other night, seen him pitch before but obviously wasn't watching closely enough. One of my favorites would be a healthy Brandon Webb sinker. Sick movement and comes off of bats like a bowling ball.
  11. If it was me I'd hold onto Plouffe for a while unless you get knocked over with an offer, which probably will not happen. He's cheap and under team control for a while still, but the thing that really makes me want to keep him is that he's not just up there trying to pull everything right now and getting lucky. The base hit up the middle, and the drive off the wall in right center last night make it look like he can be a hitter at this level and not a pull happy kid on a hot streak. Hopefully he keeps that approach
  12. One thing I like this year is getting to hear a little between pitch crowd buzz. It lets you soak in the atmosphere of the game without being there imo. There's been too much talking and late reaction to the play the last few years.
  13. This has probably been brought up this weekend but watching the game on WGN is like being in the front row compared to FSNorth.
  14. Thanks, heard the same thing about Appel and Boras. Do you think the new slotting will steer some kids away from Boras in the future. Don't like the guy, of course I'm still bitter about the Travis Lee situation.
  15. oops "their" signability
  16. Saw that on MLBTR also. Also read on there that Correa got a 4.8m signing bonus and read in the Pio Press that Buxton is expected to get around 6.2m. Does that have to do with the players representation, there signability or both?
  17. You may be forgetting that as Twins prospects they will be asked to back off a little in order to have better control. Leaving them between 89-92 :-).
  18. Hit the wrong button the first time. My thoughts exactly
  19. My thoughts exactly.
  20. Thanks for the responses guys. I'm kind of hoping for Gausman myself, the guy just seems like a horse from what I've read, but will hope for the best from whomever they pick. The development of the player they pick may be more of an issue than the pick itself with the organizations track record lately. Hopefully next years draft has 2 or 3 potential #1 starters as it looks like they'll be in the same spot again.
  21. As weak as this draft is supposed to be, is it fair to compare Buxton to past high school hitters taken in the top 3? If he was that talented wouldn't he be the clear cut, easy #1 over all pick, considering the question marks or concerns that come with all of the top pitchers in the draft?
