  1. On the other hand, I'd overpay a Killebrew to keep him around through his prime and for a long time. Sano might "only" be worth $40 million and not $50 million on the field, but 1) what the hell do I care if the Pohlads have to pony up more? and 2) he's probably worth more than his on-field production if he becomes a superstar face of the franchise type.
  2. Dammit, I knew there was an easier way!
  3. I did the Dardanelles. Eceabat to Çanakkale. At some point, I'd like to go back and do the Bosphoros.
  4. Seriously. Guy's getting lazy. Fun fact, both Lord Byron and I have swum from Europe to Asia.
  5. If it makes Bigmouth Billy Bass feel better, JT Chargois' debut in the bigs involved one out and five runs. And we still think he may be a shut down reliever. As for me, I'll take the runs.
  6. Is this where the futility ends for Buxton? God, I hope so.
  7. That's about the only circumstance where Pork Chop Vargas will steal second.
  8. Sounds like Prince Fielder, but with cheese curds.
  9. Yikes. Can we count that last one as a double. You know, because of the steal and all?
  10. The Spanish announcers do. "Buxton RRRRRRRRRROBA la segunda!"
  11. I hate when my feed falls behind and I get spoilers. But I like this.
  12. Alternatively, Kennys "Refrigerator" Vargas!
  13. This was my initial thought (or is it blind hope?) as well. Even though he only pitched three innings this outing, he struck out five. That was like a two-game total for him last year. Obviously, the results aren't there aside from the rise in strikeouts, but if he is just working on things, he's got a chance to improve.
  14. Isn't revenant French for "ghost"? It's been so long since I spoke French.
  15. How about Joe "The Wall" Mauer? He plays great defense and picks all the throws the first. For the cynical among us, it could also describe his approach at the plate. For the linguistically inclined, it's a literal translation of "mauer."
  16. Depending on the players' comfort level with it, I'd say an infield of 3B: Polanco, SS: Gordon, 2B: Dozier, and 1B: Sano looks pretty good. But I kind of fear a Dozier extension. He'll justifiably want a lot of years, and he's not exactly young anymore.
  17. Is Kennys "Refrigerator" Vargas going to play today?
  18. He's also right. The Buxton from a week ago (or, hell, even yesterday) would have ended the only inning they scored in. Yeah it's a team sport, but that was huge.
  19. Good defensive replacement there with Kepler.
