    I hope Roy Smalley stays out of the left lane if he doesn't drive 67. Then again, I've driven in Minnesota, and the "passing lane" is more like the "I don't care about anyone else lane," so I guess I wouldn't hold out hope.

    This does seem to be a good time to spend more. The core is still cheap, and we're about to enter what should be the window of contention. Also, with how significantly better the team has been this year, and with attendance being a lagging effect, they could reasonably expect more revenue next year anyway.

    That would be terrible business analysis. The money is gone any way you slice it, and frankly, we already know that it was an expensive mistake. Literally the only consideration should be whether you think Hughes will provide more value over the life of his contract than the last guy added to the 40-man this offseason will provide over the life of his. The idea that either will add any value at all is, to be perfectly fair, quite speculative.
