  1. I've heard he writes backward like da Vinci.
  2. You and me both. And yet we keep reading.
  3. I was at that game, and that was little league stuff. The guy I was sitting next to decided to boo him the next time he came up to bat, and I had to remind him that "boooooo" sounds a lot like "Plooouuuuffe." So I think he might have gotten away with one....
  4. You are correct, sir. In fact, I recall a few times last season where I called Liriano a "Trojan horse." I stand by that statement.
  5. Is next year's draft projected to be significantly better? If so, there's some "protection" from the signability issue for Kohl Stewart. If he decides to follow through on football, the Twins get #5 in 2014.
  6. Yeah, this is mainly small sample size, of course. On the other hand, we got him (and a AAAA pitcher) for giving the Sux a pitcher who pitched a 5.5 ERA for them for three months. I actually liked this trade when it happened because Liriano just isn't any good. The fact that we could get anything out of him made it a win in my book. I'm also still not bullish on Flormion. If he doesn't stick, we're not exactly brimming with other options. If Escobar proves serviceable then at least we won't be completely stuck.
  7. I came to this site today looking for this specific post/article. Crazy slump in Mauer terms. Good article by the way.
  8. It's on FSN Plus tonight. Now switch the channel over and watch the amazingness that is Joe Mauer and his totally-worth-it contract.
  9. I'm very happy with my response to this trade, in case anyone cares. What's that? No one? ...okay.
  10. It's a real problem with pitch counts, isn't it? Somewhere along the way we decided 100 was a magic number. This not only ignores the "horses" of the game, but it is detrimental to those who struggle with high pitch counts for whatever reason, be it fragility, being out of shape, or - like Pelfrey - not having the gas in the tank because of record-setting comeback from TJ. It goes both ways. Just like you wouldn't have wanted Bert Blyleven or Nolan Ryan or Jack Morris yanked every sixth inning, you don't want a guy like post-surgery Pelfrey pummeled every sixth inning. Pitch count is individual. Or at least it should be.
  11. Oh, and I might as well add this here - I really do appreciate these articles, and I read every one. Of course, I do read some of them a day late. Nevertheless, a real highlight of Twins Daily, whether I'm on time or not.
  12. The summary is absolutely fine by me, and I wouldn't ask you to completely rejigger your article just for me. But you're right about the first ten words. If it's not in the first ten words, I can't see it on the front page. (And you may be right about the catchy picture.) I also don't want to come off as whiny or unreasonable. I would simply appreciate it if we could push the critical Twins information to the second sentence or later. As for this: I'm not asking for the withholding of information. Keep it in the article, just move it back a bit in the article. That's all.
  13. This is what I'm talking about. If we could avoid this, I'd appreciate it. I know not to click on these threads until I'm ready, but it'd be nice if it weren't in block letters on the front page. http://i.imgur.com/qblzI4I.jpg
  14. Can we refrain from putting Twins spoilers on the very front page, please? The first thing that came up when I went to the home page was exactly what happened in the game I haven't watched yet. I realize most of us watch the games as they happen, but some of us can't and would like to retain some measure of suspense.
  15. I certainly hope so too. Clearly, he's got something going on that makes him ineffective in the majors, and given his stellar numbers at AAA last year, I have to believe that that lower level of competition there was "hiding" the problem. Best to work out that kind of kink while you still have options. I hope it's a case of one step back for two steps forward.
  16. He's absolutely on track. 3-5 more years of 2012 (not even 2009!), and he's a shoo-in. One more 2009 and it isn't even a question anymore.
  17. Very professional visuals. I like it.
  18. It's early. But also, there seems to be a difference between the cost-controlled players hitting their prime under the draft team's control, and the foreign free agents who can strike it big right away. I'd have liked the Twins to pick up Darvish for sure, but it wasn't going to happen.
  19. Yep. Totally, man. You get me.
  20. These jam shots are gooooooood.
  21. I reeeeally love you guys. No really. I do. You guys are good guys.
